My AT&T GB service runs 940MB up and down! The latency is more than half what my Com Cast was! And cost was less than my 400M/10M cable speed, it was fairly reliable, but dealing with cable pushing contracts got really bad. I've had my own modem for 10 years to reduce cable cost, only internet! AT&T includes ONT (fiber to ethernet- optical network termination) in cost and no contract! Set it up as pass through, use my own wifi-6 router. My TH-cam uploads blaze!
just got fiber, didn't think much about it. have had spectrum 500mb down 20mb up, and that went from $55 to $86, soon to hit $100. so i looked around and found att. for $45 I have the 500mb package, but i get 620mb down 628mb up, with latency of 8ms overall. even the wireless was beating spectrum at 492mb down 196mb up with 8ms latency. spectrum i was getting 520mb down 23mb up with 24ms latency. no question at all, att wins hands down.
yea we have the spectrum 500 mb/s plan and att fiber is currently being ran on our street and we are considering upgrading. How is the reliability of it compared to spectrum?
Question : Just got switched to ATT fiber. I get a decent speed if I close to the modem but other area of my house, it is not that impressive. Please suggest what should match with it, a mesh network or any extender ?
True. Your most power is closest to the gateway. Farther you move away. Less power. Att offers mesh with extenders for $10/month. It’s worth it. Easy to install using the smart home manager app. If you want to use third party then that is fine also. But get something like eero. Orbi Soemthing with Wi-Fi 6 built into it. And along with that Say your home is 3500 sqft. Then get a mesh that covers 4500.
i’m getting at&t fiber installed wednesday after using spectrum for the last few years and not having too many issues, BUT there are some quality issues sometimes when streaming. and I game on my PC, so i’m excited to see what changes. got the deal through costco $200 costco cash card and i’m paying $60/month for 1 Gig… was paying $84/month for spectrum 500 MB/s…. my question is, should I use the at&t router or is there a way to use my nether nighthawk router (~4 years old)
@@kwaseb actually really well. I have the 1 gig fiber internet plan. I have att wireless so my bill is $20 off the normal price of $80 (with autopay). so monthly i’m paying $60… which is $25 cheaper than spectrum 500 gb plan was. only problem i’m having is random disconnects when playing call of duty when I am WIRED with an ethernet cable. haven’t had the issue on wifi so idk what’s going on or how to fix it. probably an easy setting but I can’t find the answer. anyone know?
@@dippin_Mikedid your first bill get the 20 dollars off for the wireless customer discount? I ordered fiber over the phone and they told me it may take a couple billing cycles for the discount to be applied
Been living in an "absolutely no service for you bub" area for many years now, actually been hacking my limited T-Mobile tether usage for unlimited 4G network on my PC, it streams and downloads great to my needs but pings in games never go under 80-90. Getting ATT fiber installed in my area now and I am so beyond excited to start fragging in TF2 with way better ping.
I have a question for you, I have Mediacom in northwest Florida right now because that’s all that was available at the time I got it. Att just put a door tag on our front door about how they just installed att fiber in our neighborhood. I called and got them scheduled to come out Monday to switch me over. They said I would be at 35 a month for the 300 plan since I have a wireless plan with them already but the discount might not show up till the next billing cycle, will I get credited back for it or is it just a thing where I’ll pay extra for a month or 2
Att should take care of it after your second billing cycle. Keep up with it. I’ve had them for 10 years. Anytime I get a credit for anything. It’s done about the third billing cycle.
For me, it was the other way around. We switched from AT&T to Comcast in late 2018. AT&T doesn't offer fiber in our neighborhood. We moved from an 18 Mbps DSL connection (that's the best they could do)to a 180 Mbps cable internet connection. I just got fiber installed from another provider a few months ago and switched from Comcast to that new provider.
Am on spectrum 1G , and am getting over 1200 on my WiFi 7 on my phone, also runs smoothly on my PC. And not fiber, you should compare it to Google fiber since another fiber.
Very cool!!! The xpon hit about those speeds with customers who have Wi-Fi 7. It’s cool to see. Next time I run around someone with Google I’ll ask to do a video with it.
I’ve been using T-mobile home internet for over 4 months now I get 500-800 most the time but I have 5 lines on AT&T for phones and there coming with fiber finally in about 2 months I can save 20$ so I can get 1 gig for only 60$ monthly with better ping than T-mobile can’t wait !
@kwaseb the DIRECTV package isn’t too bad. It’s the streaming service that you can view from any device with the application in TH-cam are pretty good at having the same system.
I have a question, I move often from state and I need Internet for my iPad and my laptop and I would like to know if I can use this Internet wherever I go without having to install it?
AT&T fiber is a fixed service. You can transfer it if you move to an area with AT&T fiber, but that's not always available. For your use case, buying a hotspot and service is your best option. In short, a mobile hotspot is a device that connects to your cell phone provider and provides a wifi signal that your laptop and phone can connect to. You just have to be mindful of how much data you will use and what data plans your provider offers.
Quick question. I'm right here across the Red River from you in OKC #boomersooner🏈 and I just recently left my Cox provider and went with AT&T fiber and I have that white box in your vid... my question is do you game online on your PS5, and how good is the latency?
How’s it going neighbor! Did they install the 320? I’ve playing MK11 on line. GT7 and Sport on line and there are no issues at all. Other family members have playing Fortnite and call of duty. No issues. We had 5 gaming systems at my home last year. All different online games. All good across
@mikee0508 you won’t need passthrough. My son in law plays PC on line and he had cable before. With att fiber bgw320 on a gig network. He has zero issues and will never go back to cables again.
What’s speeds are you getting on the app. What are you getting on the smart home manager app. Also what kind of speeds are you getting on Wi-Fi 6. 5g and 2.4. Bgw320 is the best for fiber. 210 for dsl
I think the lower speeds on your console might have to do with if the IP is static or not for the console.
No.... The IP address has nothing to do with speeds or ping time. Its just an address.
