Can we just appreciate the irony of Chris Rock and Jada Pinkett Smith both being in this movie? Also, the use of "What A Wonderful World" is so perfect here, and just one of many reasons that this movie is comedy gold! Other reasons include the Penguins, King Julien, and Nana beating up Alex.
@@ey3z4ya I do know and there is nothing ironic about them being in this movie together it would’ve been ironic if Gloria had Moto Moto slap Marty the second one DUMMY
Well, think about it: for a lion who always lived in a zoo, that single run was his first true natural injection of serotonine and adrenaline. So yeah... he probably literally drugged himself and he lost his head, together with his addiction to raw steaks.
@@Rhodair Because they'll get bored of it quickly. Lions, much like other predators, are very intelligent and require enrichment. And being stuck in a small enclosure would be bad for their mental health. It's like being stuck inside a small room with all the toys you could ask for. No matter how many of them you have, there's not enough space to play with them.
Three things I love about this film/franchise; Hans Zimmer’s brilliant score, the huge amount of film/pop culture references & the penguins. Nuff said! Hope you guys react to 2 & 3.
The Fossa, which is the predator of the lemur, is actually related to Mongoose and Civets. They are feline-like predators who are excellent climbers. The movie portrays them more as Meth-Cats though.
I hope you guys continue with this series. It actually gets better as you go on. Also as others have mentioned you should also see the Penguins movie. It’s pretty damn funny.
If you need more animated films to check out, I heavily recommend Surf's Up!!! Most of the dialogue is improv, the animation still holds up nearly 20 years later. It has a surfer chicken voiced by Napoleon Dynamite. It's one of the most unique and silliest animated films out there! I feel it'd be right up your alley!
CARS AND MADAGASCAR?? ARRG!!!... RIGHT...IN THE... CHILDHOOD!! I love these movies, me and my family quote this one *constantly.* We all praise king Julian 🙏✨👑 you should definitely watch the sequels!
The fact that this movie and it's sequels were everywhere in my childhood. The pengiuns had a seperate show on Nick. Later Julien got one as well. And then the Penguins got their movie!
Loved the san diego joke. I'm from and live in San Diego.. our zoo is world famous cause it really is the best. The animals are in bigger inclosurses and they are well taken care of. Just an amazing experience
oh heck yes!! don't ask me why (i'm 99.9% sure our teacher was just fed up with us that day) but in high school theology class our teacher put this on for us and it's still one of the funniest movies i've seen to this day. this just made my night, thanks y'all
“Oh Sugar Honey Ice Tea” the best line in the movie, not to mention the call back they did to the original planet of the apes, when Alex set his Statue of Liberty on fire.
Gloria has always been my favourite since i watched it for the first time at the cinemas as a 5 year old. I also feel like they really did a good job at pairing the couples together in the future movies
18:34 If you didn't know that's a refrence to the 1970s movie Planet Of The Apes, when Taylor finds the statue of liberty sticking out of the sand, he said the same exact thing. Except he says hell not heck haha
the tissue box shoes , I believe are a reference to Howard Hughes who in later life became a hypochondriac/recluse/germaphobe and wore tissue box shoes
I hadn't seen this movie in a while and always preferred part 2 more but the first film is still solid. I like the drive of Marty wanting to go to the wild and how in captivity because Alex was being fed, he never felt his predator instincts and was able to befriend Marty. Then that being flipped on it's head when they're in the wild is pretty good
My sister watched this movie everyday for a couple years straight on my moms dvd player in her old van when she was younger around 6. she’s 18 now. I haven’t seen it in forever
I remember this one time my sister and I were at busch gardens. We happened to walk by the lemur area and she started singing I like to move it move it as the lemurs were in front of the glass. I stopped her and told her that its likely that those same lemurs have probably heard that song hundreds if not thousands of times by kids and adults alike. Would you like that if someone did the same to you. She stopped and cringed as she looked at me. Then she apologized to them as she probably realized I was right. That song is nice at first but after hearing it hundreds of times its annoying as hell.
One of my favourite Dreamworks movies. It's up there with Shrek 2. I used to have the DVD of Madagascar as a kid. In the special features, there was a point-and-click game where you had to find the snowglobe in Alex's mouth.
Imo one of DreamWorks best movies...I argue DreamWorks was straight whooping Disney's behind during this time. More kids in my class were talking about the latest DreamWorks movie than the latest Disney
I recently had a dream where I was in a movie theatre in the mid 90s watching Madagascar, but the cast was completely different.. so you had Marty: Eddie Murphy, Melmen: Robin Williams, Gloria: Sarah Michelle Geller, and for Alex it was.. Adam Sandler bro it was the funniest shit ever! Adam Sandler as Alex was some chaotic shit and it bounced so well off the others
7:42 I did too, until i got a box fan and kept my room at like 50°F lol your brain temperature needs to drop 2° before you can fall asleep, so the cooler your room the better, and the air condition and box fan drowns out all other noise, I sleep WAY better now.
14:05 I love how they were able to cuss in this movie. Sugar Honey Ice Tea. 27:57 should also check out “The Penguins of Madagascar” it’s separate from the Madagascar movies.
I love watching your reactions cause you have the same humor as me and my own twin brother! ❤ we love Madagascar, also, the penguin’s movie is really good!!
The Madagascar movies in my opinion are one of the only franchises where the movies get progressively better, does anyone else think that or is that just me? Like it gets to a point where these movies just become Fast and Furious with anthropomorphic animals.
So I guess we can assume that all the 'Moms' aren't asking Curtis for babysitting help, not with that attitude towards little cute and cuddly things?🤔 😎😏
To let you guys know, I know. It passed me when I was watching it for the first time. But if you go to the part Marty says sugar, honey, ice tea, think about it.
Not sure if you guys have already seen this when you were little, but would you react to Who Framed Roger Rabbit from 1988. A movie that's both animation and live action combined, it's aged really well and you'll get a good laugh from it.
I like the 1st two movies of this franchise the most. The third one is ok in my opinion but not quite on par with the others. The penguins are the best characters in my opinion in this movie. I would love to see you guys watch the second movie Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa too. When you said you didnt like the lemurs I was a bit hurt I must admit. I have my own personal reasons for liking the lemurs but I understand your reason for hating on them. I also hate the bug eyed one. I think those type of characters are there to appeal to kids and annoy adults.
Hey if it’s animated films u wanna watch, I recommend the ones that won animated feature! You’ve guys already watched some, but not all. U guys are missing Shrek, Spirited Away, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, Happy Feet, WALL-E, Toy Story 3, Brave, Frozen, Coco, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Toy Story 4, Soul and Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio! Just a thought. 😅😊
The penguins have their own movie and it's actually worth watching too!
Totally agree. It’s really cute and the actor name puns are really funny
Haven't seen the movie but the penguins of Madagascar cartoon was pretty good from what I remember
The whole Madagascar series is kind of GOATed 😅
They are the best part
I liked their TV show.
"I don't get excited when I know people are coming over." I feel that!!

I always wondered why they don't give them a wheel or something to run on like cats

Also the Penguins of Madagascar tv show and the movie
The Fossa, which is the predator of the lemur, is actually related to Mongoose and Civets. They are feline-like predators who are excellent climbers. The movie portrays them more as Meth-Cats though.
Fossa do fill a similar predatory niche to cats, so it makes sense why they leaned in that direction.
Many of us watching this movie for the first time had no idea what a "fossa" was 😂
"KEEP MY WIFE'S STEAK OUT YO F**KING MOUTH!" Will Smith in Madagascar 19.
💀
I love how that old lady’s first instinct upon seeing a grown ass lion is to run the ones with it 🤣
She is almost blind and she thought it's some dude trying to mug her 😂

You just reminded me that I haven't watched that in a while. Gonna go do that!
That penguin surfing movie is so underrated.
Our daughters were only one and two years old so my husband and I actually watched this for our own enjoyment!
