  • As the 610 HP ‪@BMW‬ iX M60 rolls into MotoCanyon, we pose the question: What makes up a real M Car? From behind the wheel as well as demonstrating how the ‪@BMWUSA‬ iX is constructed, MotoMan creates a punch list of the attributes that make a BMW into a ‪@BMWM‬ Car . . .

    I test drove an iX. I have to say I liked it. Well, I liked the acceleration. I kept slowing down so traffic ahead would get way ahead of me, then I would floor it to catch up, over and over, again and again. Being pushed back in my seat felt wonderful. It handled good too. I like.

    I just did a road trip 1060km, only 2 stops, one for breakfast and one for lunch while driving 140km/h when possible … it’s the best roadtripping “SUV” for the moment.

    Amazing weight for all the construction engineering. Can’t argue the badge points but question the individual that has this kind of affluence yet not having their dedicated canyon carver. Leave this one for the 7 10ths hustle with everyone on board after a round of golf or on family vacation. Nice color and great review. 12:03

    Spot on... more Bladerunner than... When I first drove an iX there was quite obviously nothing to compare it to and one of the most striking impressions, and an everlasting one at that: the silence along with the power. The sheer REFINEMENT. I've since gone from the iX 40 to the M60. Utterly addictive and surely the nearest thing to warp drive (for now anyway)...

    I think I might consider this, but the much cheaper EV6 GT and upcoming Ionic5 N are just as quick with similar drivability for a lot less. I guess you would want to pay the extra 40k just for the moniker, but that’s a lot for a badge.

    The good news for buyers is that used 2023 models are already selling in the $70k range. I'm thinking there's going to be an even bigger dip once 2024 rolls around. For reference, I asked my local indy shop's car buyer (they also sell used BMWs and now Teslas) if there where any iX coming up for auction and he found a 2024 for $93k! So I'm assuming they paid close to the $110k+ price point and instantly dropped a decent amount.
    Also, the used 2023 iX 50 with sport package I test drove had inflatable and massaging lumbar for the passenger. I'm guessing it was produced later when they had more chips available. I've never been in a car that had massaging seats, but this was so pathetic that I can't see myself ever using it besides showing people it exists.
    I really like iX though I'll miss the sport seats with thigh support in my 3...I was thinking of an X7 M50i but I also think about the costs. I'll be saving close to $3k/year on gas and then there's the maintenance that the X7 will definitely need let alone repairs.
    That said, I'm someone who keeps their vehicle for a long time so I wonder what the battery will be like in 10 years? The buyer at that shop has an original i3 and his range has barely decreased and that's with old battery tech so that gives me hope. Plus most cars value in 10 years isn't something to be banking on anyways. Also, if I added up all the maintenance/repairs I put into my 3 it would cover the cost of a new battery if needed.

    For this review I will tie my napkin like before a wonderful dinner :) great! and great timing I might to buy one next month. I drove the 40 and the 50, the 60 not yet. After this review...I skip the 60! Either the 40 or the 60 it is. It is not an M. I guess we need to wait until the next generation of batteries, where they will be half or a third of the weight. I am used to drive fast sedans or sport cars on the Autobahn, with the iX50 I did not feel as stable at high speeds as I would like to. What I did not like 1 year ago was the design, now I start to like it. Also the color combo you got here is really good looking. Base Price in Germany M60 143.000€, so way more expensive. There will always be new upcoming faster EV - but there no need at all to be faster than this one. Just lighter. Thank you

    I just cant wrap my head around something weighing nearly 3 tons being "sporty." Sure sub 4 seconds to 60 is badass, but how will the brakes stand up to those 3 tons say hammering it up n down the 26 miles and 7000 feet of elevation change on Mt Lemmon in Tucson for example. Its a fast bus to the mall. "Sporty" shouldn't even be mentioned. Nice colors inside and out, but you can keep the 3ft iPad.

    I realize that you probably can’t pick the exterior colors of your demo’s but while that blue make look stunning in real life it doesn’t photograph well. Way too dark to be able to see the cars lines and exterior. I will say the paint really looked polished!
    Great philosophy from Tony Roma. EV’s are still so new and a lot more should be learned before manufacturers get ahead of their skis with making true sports models. Unless they start making vehicles with more than 4 wheels those existing 4 wheels have to bear much more weight than ever. Remember when we use to say that a 4500 lb. car was bloated? With EV’s most of them (especially the SUV’s) are pushing 3 tons now.

    • @MotoManTV
      @MotoManTV  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We try as much as we can when/where possible to pick colors. That only happens when there is more than one of a particular car in their test fleet. In a case like this, there is only one - and I have to say the combo was good but the blue needs to be seen in person to really understand how pretty it is.

    I want to like this thing, but I don’t. 111K for this is way way too expensive for an EV with 280 miles of range. That steering wheel looks worse than what Genesis puts in their vehicles, and it just looks like a giant appliance. I agree with you on that it looks like something out of Blade Runner. I think I’d go for the EQE AMG over this even though it might be more boring to drive. I just think MB has a better design inside and out than BMW right now.

    in the right colors it's an ok looking vehicle but in the wrong ones it's so ugly. I have wondered how long that wood will last around the iDrive knob. High end, costly EV's are not selling right now so if you buy one you better get a deal on it or you are gonna take an even bigger hit when you sell it..
