Why would you call the doctor off always keep your options on the table critical minutes we’re lost do to this paramedics wrong call always use all your resources. I hope this paramedic learned her lesson.
It was the right call at the time, the patient did not require a doctor at that time. The air ambulance is a highly valuable, very limited limited resource. Standing resources down that are not required is common practice in the ambulance service. It frees up resources like the Doctor up for other people who may need them more. Bear in mind there are very few doctors available across the entirety of yorkshire for the most unwell patients, and only one with the air ambulance. It is a difficult balance to strike that ambulance crews wrestle with every day. It’s very easy in hindsight to criticise, especially when you don’t have an appreciation of the larger picture.
@@joejarosz2432I agree with your comment but I wonder if this situation is something that could justify revisiting the procedures. If you ask me (a layperson) once the GCS goes below a certain value it could be best to dispatch the doctor if available and have them continue to respond even if the patient’s GCS later improves, since this case demonstrates that when it comes to head trauma, nothing is certain

I remember seeing Gemma in Sort. I don't know if this is before she was a member of Sort or after. 👍👍
After, she’s still with the air ambulance.

I wondered the same thing. They could have cost him his life.
