10 years ago it was all about "Not labeling people, we are all unique individuals", now it seems like everyone needs to find their non-mainstream label to fit in.
I would even argue that it was more about redefining existing labels rather than throwing them out. Like people were encouraged to embrace whatever they were perceived as and re-invent what that meant to them as an individual. Now everything has to be constrained into categories and subcategories, and society is expected to participate in a game of up dress up with other adults. What started as a decent enough idea took a weird turn for the worst.

This is basically what I hate about the whole sexuality and gender movement in a nutshell. People take their slightest emotional reactions that they may think isn't normal, because people don't talk about it constantly, like liking what you see in the mirror. They put a label on it and think they have developed a whole identity. Growing up I actually thought we were moving past these tight restrictive labels (boys like trucks, girls like barbie) so that people could just be who they wanna be. But now we just have more of them and they're even more restrictive. The whole thing is schizophrenic.

If I remember high school chemistry, I believe that the difference between water and H2O is that h2O is the pure chemical compound and it exists as a gas. My thoughts exactly. I’m 30 but I saw people acting like this back when I was 14 but back then girls were claiming they were bi to get attention from guys. All of sudden almost every body was bi or lesbian all of a sudden. And as an adult I’ve run into people who said it was a phase in their life so this isn’t shocking just annoying
I'd say it's more than that. Everyone experiences some form of social anxiety, but even in more severe cases, you don't usually see shit like this. I know a few people, myself included, with a severe form of social anxiety, and none of us are attracted to ourselves.

I've worked in mental health for years....alot of these ppl have personality disorders (narcissim), have underlying psychological issues, or are simply attention seeking. This has got to be the 1st generation where being mentally ill or "odd" is a badge of honor. They are all slapping labels on themselves in an effort to be exceptional and all it does is create MORE problems for them in the future bc they tend to base their entire identity around these ideas.

As someone who identifies as Asexual simples because I don't enjoy sexual intercourse. I definitely think that it's a self esteem problem with how I see myself, I don't find myself attractive and thus I don't like sex. Due to that I identify as Asexual and there's nothing with identifying as that but once it becomes who you are, that's when it becomes an actual issue. It's hard to disagree with how Aba and Preach are thinking. It's a lot of labels, a lot of confusion. I find people attractive, I enjoy making out, but intercourse is when my brain shuts down. I'm definitely broken mentally and that's something that I've got to fix through my therapy.
Counsellor here. It can be viewed from a few different perspectives. My choice here would be the model of grief, has 5 stages. Denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. These people, from what I have observed, are in denial and using their new label as a coping mechanism and as a defence mechanism. This is not a healthy form of "self love" or acceptance. The one lady said she doesn't mind hooking up once or twice a month but "prefers herself." It could be bad experiences or simply encountering the hardware store special (screw, nut, and bolt) not really going anywhere for her.

I can remember learning that it's disrespectful to say "lgbtq", instead we have to now say "lgbtqa+", as not to unintentionally offend anyone from that community.

Life is hard. I think people find solace and relief from putting a name to something they are feeling. It's much harder to explain something when you don't have a name or definition to it. There are some people that just adopt something for attention, but I think that a lot of people do it because it's comforting.

I am someone who sort of just "gets" LGBT stuff because I myself am part of it and like reading or hearing about it, and I understand Aba and Preach's confusion because it's simply not something they care about and they don't need to. I absolutely love the discussions (on all the videos actually) where you guys are just explaining what you don't understand and why, and the "disgust" that you might show is appreciated is less that because I understand where you're coming from and you're willing to have the discussion rather than just say, "ew, don't like that, don't want to see that". Also I completely agree that the labels are maybe excessive, but I think of it as being something that those people who engage in labeling need, maybe just for now or always, and it's okay for other people not to care because it simply isn't relevant to them. I still find myself slipping in and out of wanting to have labels sometime with gender or sexuality but I've come to rely on my feelings and conversations to describe myself, not labels that aren't mainstream and not easily understood in conversation by everyone. Additionally, the more secure you are in your identity, sometimes the less you need to talk about it.

I would even argue that it was more about redefining existing labels rather than throwing them out. Like people were encouraged to embrace whatever they were perceived as and re-invent what that meant to them as an individual. Now everything has to be constrained into categories and subcategories, and society is expected to participate in a game of up dress up with other adults. What started as a decent enough idea took a weird turn for the worst.

This is basically what I hate about the whole sexuality and gender movement in a nutshell. People take their slightest emotional reactions that they may think isn't normal, because people don't talk about it constantly, like liking what you see in the mirror. I'd say it's more than that. Everyone experiences some form of social anxiety, but even in more severe cases, you don't usually see shit like this. I know a few people, myself included, with a severe form of social anxiety, and none of us are attracted to ourselves.

I've worked in mental health for years....alot of these ppl have personality disorders (narcissim), have underlying psychological issues, or are simply attention seeking. This has got to be the 1st generation where being mentally ill or "odd" is a badge of honor. They are all slapping labels on themselves in an effort to be exceptional and all it does is create MORE problems for them in the future bc they tend to base their entire identity around these ideas.

As someone who identifies as Asexual simples because I don't enjoy sexual intercourse. I definitely think that it's a self esteem problem with how I see myself, I don't find myself attractive and thus I don't like sex. Due to that I identify as Asexual and there's nothing with identifying as that but once it becomes who you are, that's when it becomes an actual issue. It's hard to disagree with how Aba and Preach are thinking. It's a lot of labels, a lot of confusion. I find people attractive, I enjoy making out, but intercourse is when my brain shuts down. I'm definitely broken mentally and that's something that I've got to fix through my therapy.

Counsellor here. It can be viewed from a few different perspectives. My choice here would be the model of grief, has 5 stages. Denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.
These people, from what I have observed, are in denial and using their new label as a coping mechanism and as a defence mechanism. This is not a healthy form of "self love" or acceptance.
The one lady said she doesn't mind hooking up once or twice a month but "prefers herself." It could be bad experiences or simply encountering the hardware store special (screw, nut, and bolt) not really going anywhere for her.
I don't think any psychologist would want to get cancelled. Nowadays having an opinion against any such groups gets someone a lot of hate.

I am someone who sort of just "gets" LGBT stuff because I myself am part of it and like reading or hearing about it, and I understand Aba and Preach's confusion because it's simply not something they care about and they don't need to. I absolutely love the discussions (on all the videos actually) where you guys are just explaining what you don't understand and why, and the "disgust" that you might show is appreciated is less that because I understand where you're coming from and you're willing to have the discussion rather than just say, "ew, don't like that, don't want to see that". Also I completely agree that the labels are maybe excessive, but I think of it as being something that those people who engage in labeling need, maybe just for now or always, and it's okay for other people not to care because it simply isn't relevant to them. I still find myself slipping in and out of wanting to have labels sometime with gender or sexuality but I've come to rely on my feelings and conversations to describe myself, not labels that aren't mainstream and not easily understood in conversation by everyone. Additionally, the more secure you are in your identity, sometimes the less you need to talk about it.

What I'm really annoyed by is that it used to be about respecting each person's sexuality, and one's sexuality not interfering in how we're treated in society, work, etc. Now it's about talking about specific details of one's sexuality, boasting about it, knowing every detail about others' sexuality... There even are talks about every sexual identity being created at my job. Why is it important to know that a co-worker is asexual, for example?
