Why Spanish Flu Killed Over 50 Million People - Deadliest Plague in Modern History
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 22 ธ.ค. 2024
- The Spanish flu swept the world between January 1918 through December 1920, infecting over 500 million people around the world. At first, it was just a normal flu, but it's second wave was the deadliest. But just why did the Spanish flu decimate the world population and what made it so deadly? In todays animated history video, we're taking a look at the lessons we can learn from Spanish flu and see just what went wrong.

In some counties tracking, probably, is of no use anymore - it mostly depends on the total number of cases as well as the number of infected sites in the country. But if they have only 1-2... It worked in South Korea.

Back then they weren’t even reporting the disease they just carried on like nothing was happening lol
They weren't allowed to.
First off, America wouldn't report it, then pressured the Allies into not reporting it.
Germany were on the backfoot at that time, so they also kept it a secret.
But the Allies, being in a winning position, should've held off on the troop movements, they knew about the disease 😳
Although, hindsight is about as useful as Donald Trump's brain.
But now they are saying it is just a flu and carrying on as nothing was happening. History repeats itself.
Many countries don't even screen people at the airports and still have basically open borders.
Keep in mind, this disease affected the young people the most, because their bodies didn't know how to react to such disease, and so the immune systems overreacted, which is how the patients died.
Today, we are so exposed to the disease through the open air and vaccines that there is no reason to believe that the bodies of our young people wouldn't be able to handle such disease.

It's amazing that the 'Spanish' Flu (a very unfortunate name) killed so many people and is pretty much forgotten. Until recently (in light of COVID-19), I didn't see much documentary material about the pandemic. But now it seems that some people are mentioning the pandemic in comparison to COVID-19. That's just my experiences though.
They've been around just now people are looking for it. There's a term for it o can't remember what it's called. Same effect when you buy a new car and notice when other people are driving the same car when you never noticed before.
It's not forgotten. Here in Europe everybody knows it.
If not for the COVID-19, I would not have been able to somehow relate to this 1918 pandemic, and get a glimpse of how people of those time must have dealt with it.
Whoever is reading let's come together in love and unity in these evil days. Forgive those that hurt you even if they don't deserve it. Be focused and calm
