I could happily sit here for hours on end listening to these guys, I can really connect with Clarkson when he isn't going bonkers on Top Gear. Not that that is a bad thing, but I can fully connect with him when he mentions that indescribable feeling and connection with a car
Well Stated, I have heard many people say negative things about him, yet i truly believe that they are just jealous. Plain in simple, he is a great tv personality, speaks well, has enough intelligence to speak about the subject he is put in charge of and smart enough to speak up when he doesnt. instead of someone trying to "sound smart". Jeremy has done a great job. He deserves his fame and wealth.
Jezzer actually gained his respect, fame, and wealth in the proper way. He worked hard became a firebrand and fame and fortune followed. It also doesn't hurt to have a common popular message to say.
Yeah the TT never gets a mention it really is a throw back event. I love all motosport because i enjoy watching racing and the skill of the drivers if it's old or new, but the TT is madness those boys really have some balls.
I've already told my parents that, God forbid, if I'm dying of a terminal illness at some point and I can do that Make-A-Wish thing, my wish is to meet Clarkson, Hammond, and May and go to a live show.
It's an interesting discussion, even moreso when you consider the fact they don't even mention the Isle of Man TT which makes anything else look like a stroll down the beach.
Pretty sure he was saying the Nicky crash started the movement to make the cars/racing safer. But I recently watched a documentary that stated it took a long time for the idea to gain a foothold in the minds of those running the races. So while there was fights for racing to be made safer it still look many years until they actually did take steps towards safety.
The traction control in F1 is just a "tuning" issue. They are running specific maps and power adjustments. Look at the Monaco race this year, they were running something like 20% less power than a standard track.
its been fuel injected for the last year or so... there was a lot of talk about the guys not knowing what kind of fuel mileage changes they were going to have with the new systems
@oioutzu michael schumacher wasn't actually the stig that was just a joke scene, but the guy who was playing the stig is ben collins and he was and F1 driver before he got let go and i imagine the new stig would be and F1 driver aswell.
Indeed it is, but it's a figure of speech that represents a very real and basically still socially acceptable form of discrimination, and when well-respected people like Clarkson use words in this way, it helps legitimise and perpetuate that discrimination. I don't for one second think Jeremy has any particular bias against gay people. And I've been pretty supportive of him through just about every other controversy over stuff he's said. But in this case I wish he'd chosen his words more wisely.
Has anyone stuck the audio transcribed captions on? At 00:58 the captions decide that "he was so angry" is "he was short and refuses to admit it's hard to be a perennial"
very interesting, for sure, but i am not so sure about what Jeremy said about the reflexes of former racedriver and today-racedriver; the acceleration and topspeed is higher nowadays and because of the immense grip the turn-speed is much higher and so the reaction must be faster too
Or it's someone who knows what makes them happy and what does. An Audi R8 is a summarily better car than any Ferrari or Lamborghini if you go by cost, performance, maintenance and the rest of the specifications. But fun isn't a number, it's an experience.
What Clarkson said about Villeneuve wasnt true, he DID put on his seatbelts before he went out on that fateful qualifying session, after the accident the seat was still strapped to him
@runeram708 jackie Stewart was the one who started getting safety measures put in place in formula 1 long before sennas fatal crash at a time when f1 drivers were dying on a regular basis each year, clarkson is correct on this, the safety measures put in place after sennas and lets not forget roland rassenburgers crash are just an exdention of the hard work jackie Stewart started in the first place all those years ago
I find it funny that Top Gear is obsessed that us Aussies go to Bathurst and have punch ups, well as a matter of fact there is punch ups, lots of booze and rivalry over Holden and Ford. Your one or the other.
F1 hasn't had traction control since 2008 and ABS hasn't been in F1 since 1993. And saying F1 drivers nowadays don't have good reflexes is moronic. The cars today get snap oversteer that the cars 50 years ago just didn't have. The slides were more gradual and easier to catch.
I heard him contradict himself in the next statement if that's what you're talking about :p He was blatantly wrong in his first statement, the demands on driver reflexes these days is on another level compared to the old days for exactly the reason he stated: massive grip and snap oversteer = superhuman reflexes needed to take those cars anywhere near the limit. Skinny radial tyres, no aero and good handling characteristics? Progressive and relatively easy to manage on the limit.
Traction control and ABS does not exist in F1. But i agree with him. Take the wings off Formula 1 cars and swap the slicks out with some diagonal tires.
He gives the impression being clueless about technology....but he definitely knows more about technology and engines than a regular person...maybe its just a little less than someone else in his position
I love Jeremy Clarkson, but the Villeneuve story is just wrong. If anyone has seen Gille's crash you'll know why. He crashed and came out of his car, attached by his harnesses to his seat.
lol...yes and of course thats just for humor...i am quite sure he mends the engine properly when the camera is not rolling...but i think james may is much more knowledgeable about engines than clarkson or hammond
@Sooksawaspakdee961 I'd like to point that the stig could do a full F1 race. (Or Ben Collins Stig, at least.), the man was in the SAS. If he kept the same level of fitness, he'd do a race with ease. He might not win, I don't think he has the skill, but he'd be fine to do it. Clarkson, probably not, he's a middle aged fat bloke, as he put it himself.
Hahaa, there's some people in this world without a clue. I mean, there's some people who actually think Titanic was just a film. "Ignorance is bliss." As they say...
I could happily sit here for hours on end listening to these guys, I can really connect with Clarkson when he isn't going bonkers on Top Gear. Not that that is a bad thing, but I can fully connect with him when he mentions that indescribable feeling and connection with a car
Hail Clarkson!... Thanks for the upload.
The live show is worth it!!!
Well Stated, I have heard many people say negative things about him, yet i truly believe that they are just jealous. Jeremy clarkson the epic legend
You're goddamn right!!! :D
Clarkson for prime minister!
Jeremy’s response to Eric is classic
Jezzer actually gained his respect, fame, and wealth in the proper way. He worked hard became a firebrand and fame and fortune followed. It also doesn't hurt to have a common popular message to say.
How much would I have loved to have taken part of this interview!
Yeah the TT never gets a mention it really is a throw back event. I love all motosport because i enjoy watching racing and the skill of the drivers if it's old or new, but the TT is madness those boys really have some balls.
the back of my head enjoyed this O.O
Clarksons a legend!!
Well said,i totally agree!!
Love the Beast is a great movie. If any of you haven't seen it check it out on Netflix along with Senna
I've already told my parents that, God forbid, if I'm dying of a terminal illness at some point and I can do that Make-A-Wish thing, my wish is to meet Clarkson, Hammond, and May and go to a live show.

Good point. I am aware there had been a period when TCS was allowed. I was looking at the upload date, my bad.

They do have traction control actually, but you are correct about the ABS and stability control :P
thanks for sharing :))
Exactly. In comparison, todays cars practically drive themselves. It was a real mans game in the 70s.
Me too - totally. Cars are my life!
i personally think group b rallying and its drivers were so skilled and had the reflexes of housefly's! I miss group B sooooo much
God damn i wish i knew clarkson.
its been fuel injected for the last year or so... there was a lot of talk about the guys not knowing what kind of fuel mileage changes they were going to have with the new systems

"The car is still the basis for a billion kid's dreams"
_words from the wise
thanks
In 2005, Clarkson received an honorary Doctor of Engineering degree from the Oxford Brookes University. (:

Cant you upload the dvd?
I don't know about ALL racing cars but F1 cars certainly don't have things like ABS or traction control on them.
It's weird seeing I serious Jeremy and that he actually pretty knowledgeable lol
my first car....dodge gtx v8 given to my by my granpa..i love that car to death. but you can imagine how hard it is to park it
very interesting, for sure, but i am not so sure about what Jeremy said about the reflexes of former racedriver and today-racedriver; the acceleration and topspeed is higher nowadays and because of the immense grip the turn-speed is much higher and so the reaction must be faster too
uncut? why the pictures not shown when given to jeremy then? lol

i want to see the damn pictures!

This talk is f***ing Car Bible
i was watching 'who do u think u are', then i came here
the guy doing the interview is the hulk from 2003.
I find it funny that Top Gear is obsessed that us Aussies go to Bathurst and have punch ups, well as a matter of fact there is punch ups, lots of booze and rivalry over Holden and Ford. Your one or the other.
he'a a ford fan (not surprised, had a hunch back then)
i love cars that bounce!
If i won the EuroMillions I'd have Clarkson be my personal chauffeur.
FIA rules state that any computer aid the helps with traction is banned..at least it is this season :P
Its funny. Pretty much everything Jezza would change in F1 has happened. And its all the better for it.
Any car fan HAS to watch love the beast. I almost cried like a bitch.
Hate to make clarkson look a bit slow but f1 removed driver aids for about 2 years when that was made, but i do agree racing was better back then
He's the GOD OF HELL FIRE
@sfryters because of the production schedule id imagine its more likely to be a touring car driver.
why would they dislike?
I hope Clarkson doesn't get hulk angry
did you not hear his follow up statement ???
F1 hasn't had traction control since 2008 and ABS hasn't been in F1 since 1993. And saying F1 drivers nowadays don't have good reflexes is moronic. The cars today get snap oversteer that the cars 50 years ago just didn't have. The slides were more gradual and easier to catch.

Jeremy Clarkson loves the banter, judging by your name you would probably kiss his feet.
Traction control and ABS does not exist in F1. But i agree with him. Take the wings off Formula 1 cars and swap the slicks out with some diagonal tires.
Clarkson is the first in his family to be born without a tail.
Justin Bieber:God sent me here to sing.
Jeremy Clakson:No,I didn't.
well even at that i think he was talking about racing in general
why is hulk interviewing clarkson
My kind of friday poker table and beer would include Jeremy Clarkson, Tiger Woods, Chuck Norris and Cameron Diaz.
You guys are commenting on his knowledge based on the current season when this interview took place F1 cars had traction control.
F1 cars haven't had traction control since 2008
nice up
They did a couple of years ago but they took them off (which is a good thing).
He is also wrong no formula 1 car has traction control or anti lock brakes or any stability control.
You have engine, grip, arse, and lots of carbon :)
The Full & Uncut Jeremy Clarkson Interview , Well in swedish "Full" means "Drunk" ha ha :)
he's bruce banner not hulk...yet...good thing clarkson didnt piss him off!
200 mph in a circle for 500 laps....yeah good times.
He gives the impression being clueless about technology....but he definitely knows more about technology and engines than a regular person...maybe its just a little less than someone else in his position
General Motors - Government Monitored - GM
@Kboman nascar is fuel injected!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Vettel?
I love Jeremy Clarkson, but the Villeneuve story is just wrong. If anyone has seen Gille's crash you'll know why. He crashed and came out of his car, attached by his harnesses to his seat.
If I were rich I wouldn't buy a 911 either
Or abs. So take that Clarkson!
@joyfulvulture It's called an opinion. You can't judge an opinion, only agree/disagree with it. "clueless" falls under the prior. Wrong, wrong, wrong.
im in nz and i have no idea what a hillman avenger is
janet street porter watched this video
4.45 copied richard on the top gear episode at the cool wall hahah, where are the woman!?
That's why he mends everything with a hammer....
props form tassie for the targa lol
WeII said Jeremy.todays racing is nothing,Iike it was before.too much safety measures!!
Typical Clarkson, brutally honest.
i want my drivers licence :(
I disagree completely. Clarkson is the most well known motoring journalist in the world.
He didn't get there by being clueless.
@WatchmenDrManhattan ?
there is no traction control on F1
@WatchmenDrManhattan Huh?
lol...yes and of course thats just for humor...i am quite sure he mends the engine properly when the camera is not rolling...but i think james may is much more knowledgeable about engines than clarkson or hammond

i agree with clarkson, racing these days is crap.
Hahaa, there's some people in this world without a clue. I mean, there's some people who actually think Titanic was just a film.
"Ignorance is bliss." As they say...
@WatchmenDrManhattan oh i get it!
