I am quite proud of the fact that I am in this video! I was a young Archaeology student working my summer digs at Beddingham Villa and we were told that a film crew was turning up to make a documentary. Spike Milligan would be doing it. Can you you imagine the excitement of meeting one of my comedy heroes? He did interview me while I was doing the Resistivity survey but it didn't make the cut unsurprisingly. He asked if If i had found Hadrian's Wall with it yet! They were beautiful summers doing work that was intensely interesting. Great days!
I loved listening to that old couple with their true words of wisdom... but actually acting on that wisdom too... Living the life... Fair play to them...
Quite brilliant! My 2nd great grandfather was born in India and I am an archaeologist. I also love the Goons and listened to radio programmes when I was a child!
Thank you for your interesting comments. I've just moved to a new build estate and I made a video about where our new houses now stand th-cam.com/video/dKvrff63484/w-d-xo.html
It's one of the first programmes I made, I was based at Elstree, he signed some books for me and he loved talking about Rugby. I wish I'd added some music at the though!
just watched 'an audience with Spike...' made in 96: he was clearly ill whereas here, 7 years earlier, his speech and movement seemed fine, despite his age. I wonder if he had a stroke? Amazing bloke. Genius.
Spike seems very excitable and hyperactive in this, knowing of his struggles with depression i feel he is at a peak during this, but soon he will crash and end up in a deep depression. a horrible sequence of dizzying highs followed by terrible lows repeated all through his life. R.I.P. Spike, you've earned it.
I adore Spike, I would watch him on TH-cam if he was just combing his hair. A great wit , funniest man of entire generation, humanitarian and a wanna be archeologist. Saw him live at Her Majesty's in Brisbane all now a treasured memorie.
Without uncontrolled mass immigration, Britain's population would have been stable since ablout 1950. Probably even have declined a little. But with mass immigration, the population has risen from around 50 million in 1950 to approaching 70 million today. That is by more than twice the population of teeming London in 1980. And very many of those immigrants have much higher birth rates than the native British. Talking about "ecology" in Britain while supporting mass immigration is ridiculous. There are huge, fertile, unpopulated places in the world. Britain is small and already grossly overpopulated.
