    "I believe whatever the Son of God says," is my prayer every moment of everyday but most especially when trials come. Everytime I make this act of faith "the rays of the Light of glory dawn in my mind" and I "see" God through His gift faith.
    Credo in Unum Dominum Iesum Christum, Filium Dei Unigenitum.

    If I feel like I don't have faith, but I say the act of faith, and try as best I can to live in God's friendship in His Catholic Church, do I still have the gift of faith despite my unwanted doubtful thoughts?

    • @trainedmoose

      Fair question. I would like to think that you will be rewarded for your consistency in reaching out for your faith. If nothing else, I believe faith is a relationship with God. If you keep on saying your act of faith and living faithfully in His Church, you are keeping a relationship with God, which is a great thing. Good luck and God bless. I appreciate you opening up like this.

    • @mickeyesoum3278
      @mickeyesoum3278 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      1- being able to justify your beliefs to yourself is already something quite relevant; 2- when trying to convince someone, you can appeal to reason, logic, Natural Theology - such as Aquinas's arguments for the existence of God covered in this channel, or other arguments for the plausibility of Christianity; 3- you can also try preaching the Gospel in the way you think is more likely to be understood by your interlocutor, and hope for God to bring him to supernatural faith down the road.

    In the "threefold dynamic of faith" part, at around 3:00, the Latin for "Believing in a God" and "Believing God" don't seem to match the English. Is this an error on your part or am I ignorant of the grammatical nuances? If the latter, would you mind explaining the grammatical nuances to me?

    Faith is relationship with God. In faith God is subject and man is object. Aquinas reversed the order. Faith is considered as a epistemological category by st.aquinas .It is wrong. I am a devout Catholic. But critically examine Augustine and Aquinas.It doesn't mean that I object All contributions. It is wrong to consider the statements of Aquinas Equal to words of God.

    • @ThomisticInstitute
      @ThomisticInstitute  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No, St. Thomas's words are not the Word of God! But he was very familiar with the Word. As to your point about subject and object, this is a much-contested matter. The Council of Trent spoke well about the many meanings of faith, in response to Reformation critiques. But when we say that man is the subject of faith, we mean that, by an infused gift from God, he is able to know God according to a supernatural disposition. This is God's faithfulness, but in a human mode.
