“Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us.”
    (1 John 4)
By graciously extending to us a share in his happiness, God establishes a certain society with us within which friendship can develop. Charity elevates the love of benevolence such that we love God Himself as a friend, not for our sake, but for his sake.

Education about God is like an introduction to God, (it has been this for me, I'm no theologian just speaking for me). I thank you for the articulate, illuminative presentations you present. God's blessings and my prayers for all of you. I hear, I grow, I give thanks to God.

Wow, I think this is one of the best, if not the best, video in the series so far. For me, it really helped bring a great many of Aquinas' teachings into a harmonized whole. The last couple statements about the relationship between wisdom, charity and peace was very profound for me. Thanks!

@@ThomisticInstitute Note: "Cheers" is a British expression, now (unfortunately) increasingly common in North America. It means "Thank you." It used to mean "Bottoms up!" In monasteries (for all I know), it may still mean that.

Why 'unfortunately'? Here in England I still use it when having a drink with friends 🤠. Thanks for your marvellous videos. God bless America. God save the Queen.

    True
Also,on the contrary, God doesn't benefit from creation at all. Supplying creatures with existence is a pure gift, without any gain on His part. Creatures receive everything from the act of creation; the Creator receives nothing from it. From the Divine perspective, creation is an act of love which is totally and in all ways selfless.
    God bless.

@@michaelunderwoodii2357 A good distinction to make is between extrinisic and intrinsic glory. In Himself, intrinisically, God is glorious and cannot be any more glorious; if this were not the case, it would imply an imperfection of God and the possibility of change. However, extrinsically, God’s glory can be increased, if we consider glory as “praise joined with renown”, in that creation may more clearly reflect God by its own perfection. This is not a change in God, but a change in creation.

Love means give first preference to the other in relationship (Philipia 2 :3) Minimum love, fulfill the demands of law(Pope Benedict XVI Caritas in Vertate 7) Maximum love,(Opcit) Maximum love is love unto death (John 15:13) Maximum love is Agape in Greek language, Caritas in Latin language and Charity in English language. I am proud because I was a student in St.Thomas Aquinas university Rome.

King Solomon was favoured by God! God asked Him in His dream what gift he wanted for his faithfulness. God showed him all the richness and kingdoms of the earth and if he deemed so He will give it to him, then God him great power and prowess that he can conquer any land and kingdoms if he deemed so, finally King Solomon made a decision and asked God for the Gift of Wisdom to rule His people of Israel well and God granted it unto him and together with the two previous gifts lay down unto him! King Solomons richness is well known throughout that time and his wisdom that even the Queen of Sheba travelled for more than a year from Ethiopia bringing lots of gifts only to seek his advice and wisdom!
