Hiya Folks! I’m sure most of you have seen it by now, but 4 days later, we finally made it!
That moment the music hits, as Ysera is literally reborn like a dragon coming out of its egg, is beautiful. Always glad to hear my favorite soundtrack from Cataclysm.
The first few minutes sum up Ysera’s revival. Afterwards you can choose to stay for the full lore/cutscenes or not.

What I can't believe is the emotion that the woman that voiced that character put into that phrase.
I actually cried at this cinematic. Too often this game feels like a story of loss, where you cannot get anything back, and heroes fight just to hold on to what they have. Sometimes not even that. Ysera was one of my favorite characters. I'm happy to have her back.
Side bar: does Allie also go to Ardenweald if/when she dies?
I had to take a moment when Elune took Ysera's soul and placed it in the stars to prevent her from going to The Maw... like... I don't play games to cry. LOL

The moment the music hits, and she comes out of that Wildseed like a dragon coming out of its egg and in a similar notion to how Elune rose her soul back in Legion at her death. It was all so beautifully crafted in a matter of seconds. Animation truly is beautiful!

Both her cinematics are beautiful. When she was made into a “constellation” in Legion through Elune, and the similar notion as the Winter Queen brings her rebirth. And oh the music, best since Cata.

@@ketofitforlife2917 Ysera was uplifted to Dragon Aspect by power of Eonar (whos power is like alive Nature and WQ has afterlife Nature power), and a Titans (Order) Pantheon is of the same calibre as a Death Pantheon - so it's 99% Eonar because they are "sisters" in Nature aspect of their powers. And Elune is possible a beign of not any pantheon, but very possibly one of The First Ones (even higher calibre than Titans, beigns who created the Cosmos and all pantheons to build and maintain it, maybe because after it creation they themselves can interract with Cosmos only from OUTSIDE with limited possibilities), who now tries to Balance all Cosmic Forces of each corresponding pantheons so the Cosmos itself won't collapse.
This is such a well done scene, emotionally. The amount of information about the relationship between this character and her sister they've packed into about 4 lines is just so wildly impressive.

THE MUSIC AND SYMBOLISM IN THIS IS AMAZING !!!
Like, when Ysera died back in Legion, we hear the same theme as we do now (while the queen is in the process of awakening her). In Legion, the theme was melancholic and sad, and here it is triumphant. It's also intertwined with the Night Elves' Nightsong!
And the constellation that Ysera turned into upon dying is shown here as well. I love everything about Ardenweald by the looks of it and this in-game cinematic is by far the best together with the Arbiter one.
Ardenweald is my favourite zone, I love logging in to see it, its like an apology from Blizz for destroying Teldrassil. LOL
this was one of the best cinematics ever and the winter queen is fucking amazing. shadowlands is crushing it so far.

My mage is Kyrian, though... and there's a point where you have to go back to Ardenweald and request an audience with the Winter Queen and I swear, if my character could have talked, she would have said, "Oh god, not that bitch again. HERE WE GO..." Haha. But she was actually pretty decent in that quest chain, so idk what happened. She must have mellowed out. xD

I don't know why but I did cry a bit on this cinematic. It is so beautifully made and the music is spot on. Kudos to Blizzard for creating another cut scene masterpiece.
I sobbed when I had to kill Ysera, and sobbed again watching her reborn. Of all the Dragons, I love her the most.
I only started playing WoW back in June or July, after the loss of my friend and guild/alliance leader on Neverwinter, but it's cinematics like this that got me so invested in the characters, the lore, and the game itself.
Say what you want about blizzard, but their stuff is very beautiful. I love their facial features and expressions, the colors and the setting is very inspiring.
I legit bawled like a baby when this cinematic played. I'm a huge Druid fan and Ysera is my favorite WoW character, it pained me so much to see her pass on in Legion, and the moment I heard snippets of Nightsong play (the song that played when Ysera was saved by Elune in her death) at the Hibernal Hollow, I knew immediately it was Ysera.

Elune talks about this in the ancient cosmology tome. This had me teared up again, because if you remember when Elune (The Winterqueen's sister) saved Ysera the first time, she placed her soul amongst the stars, to prevent it from going to The Maw. In this clip, you see the WQ sacrificing her own anima (Law of Conservation) to do the same thing in reverse. This shit is getting really epic, really fast. Ardenweald's central tree, and Teldrassil; Elune and the WQ having the power to ascend/awaken Ysera. There is only one 'sister' she could be talking about. You might think it's Eonar, but the ED was here before the Pantheon. Yes, Eonar bound her power through the keepers to Ysera, but after the battle with Galakrond, Eonar had no connection or communication to Ysera afterwards. It was all service, worship and duty to Elune by protecting Azeroth. The missing link is whether or not Eonar and Elune had any communication? There's no evidence of this. Further, just as the WQ had no concern before being persuaded for Ysera, why would Elune draw close and save Ysera in Legion? Again, Ysera was here as a protodrake and had more intelligence than many others BEFORE Eonar bound her powers to her. You might think it's Freya too; but Freya had little to do with shaping the aspects themselves, she was a guardian and shaper of the dream, Eonar was her titan keeper, and that's it. Additionally, titans and eternals (Elune's godhood/eternal?) are leagues apart in power. I love these developments!
but if you look even closer, you can see her getting fully blue again in the last shot with ysera at 2.11

Man would be badass if we went to fight the jailer and we had the heads of the dragonflights. Even Deathwing was corrupted, he wasn't inherently bad.
I actually would love to see Arthas, Guldan, Garrosh and some other villains team up with the Jailer. It would be sick, like a team of super villains

There's lots of lore to imply that there are fates outside of the shadowlands, and that certain things can keep you from moving on to there. Bwonsamdi mentions that Vol'jin is "bound to azeroth" or something, and presumably this is how things like tauren and orc ancestors and shamans work, not to mention the myriad actual ghosts haunting azeroth: Having a strong connection to your homeland keeps you from falling into the shadowlands.
Naturally I'm talking out my ass here, but it would seem likely that Deathwing was so heavily corrupted by the old gods that his spirit was completely shattered, or maybe even captured by the void. Revendreth is for rehabilitating arrogant and cruel, but otherwise mundane souls that can be shown the error of their ways. A dickheaded king might cause a great deal of suffering, but he isn't a cataclysmic threat. Sylvanas on the other hand was doomed to the maw well before she even burned down Teldrassil. Deathwing would likely be far too powerful and deranged for revendreth to even handle as a spirit.

I think it’s more correct to assume that she ment Eonar as her sister than Elune, as Eonar is known as the Life-Binder and the titan patron of all life and nature. And it was Eonar that blessed Ysera after all.
“Eonar the titan blessed Alexstrasza's younger sister, the lithe green dragon Ysera, with a portion of nature's influence. Ysera fell into an eternal trance, bound to the waking Dream of Creation. Known as the Dreamer, she would watch over the growing wilds of the world from her verdant realm, the Emerald Dream.”
While this is a great theory- I don't think it's sound. Eonar is the Titan-creator, which is a world soul, and a literal god. The Winter Queen is a guardian of rest, rebirth, and death- which is what the seasons of autumn and winter stand for; meanwhile Elune is associated with growth, spring, summer, and life.
Élune is her sister. Full stop.
Eonar is a titan, the Winter Queen is an Eternal One, a race that seems to predate the creation of the Shadowlands, and would then predate even the Titans by millennia. I think it makes more sense that Elune, the only "true goddess" we know of, would be the sister of an Eternal One.

Theory 1
Elune is an old one and the last surviving member which explains why she has unfathomable power,
Evidence: ysera at the brink of death was put out of her misery by elune and turned into a constellation, now when the winter queen spoke of ysera, the winter queen mentioned "why should I help her pet?" Clearly the winter queen is aware of ysera's relation to elune and when she said her, it seems she is also aware of who elune is, and the other minion of the winter queen said " if she dies, then all of emerald dies with her " clearly stating the minion too knows about ysera's relation to the emerald dream

Notice how parts of her face begin to "wilt", ending with one of the leaves on her horns falling off
Really shows bad the situation is for them, considering that the Winter Queen and the land are one. "If the land thrives, then so does she."

Winter Queen. A benevolent ruler yet so soft spoken. She portrays the image of a quiet but firm ruler, but in her heart she feels for her kingdom. Btw did anyone else notice a leaf falling from her branches. Does that mean anything? Maybe if she loses all branches she loses power?
The falling leaf shows that she sacrificed a portion of her own being to save Ysera. That’s also why Ysera’s eyes now glow like the Winter Queen’s.
I literally cried when Ysera died, this was even better tears and goosebumps! Something to look forward to. 💞💞💞
Ysera has from the beginning was my favorite of the aspects and when i saw her die in legion i legit shed some tears, and now she's come back makes me so happy to see The Mother of Dreams again.

The Dreamer, at least when she was an Aspect, was in charge of the interaction between the supernatural realms and Azeroth. This was primarily the Emerald Dream, the 'backup save state' of Azeroth. But she knew Elune, and knew the Shadowlands. And they apparently knew her.
One wonders if the Aspect of Dreams could power and energize the Wyld, if it was intact at the time.
My first thought was Elune too, but it won't make sense because Aparently it was leaked that Elune is one of the "First ones" who then made "The Eternals" (the jailer, the Primus the Winter Queen).

Eonar is the Winter Queen's sister. Both heavily nature-themed elite NPCs with growth & leaves in their hair representing the Emerald Dream & Ardenweald respectively. Elune may be their mother.
I think Elune is the sister, because the Winter Queen is an Eternal One, they predate the Shadowlands existing as they do now, which itself predates the Titans by millennia, so Eonar is far, far too young to be the Winter Queen's sister, therefore I think it's more likely that Elune is her sister.

@@shamlotbestrhapsever7437 Eonar's *race* is younger than the Winter Queen is. How exactly would that work? 10,000 years is nothing in the cosmological scale. Tyrande is venerable for a mortal, but by the standards of the Eternal Ones she's still very young and fleeting.

The details are often quite nice when they go all out with a pre-rendered cinematic. How the queen noted that Ysera was of her Sister (hinted as Elune. Some say Eonar, but she is a titan and it is clearly Elune that personally(ish) fetched her on death) and the stern defiant pose+tone assumed at this suggesting them not being on speaking terms.
...Then those who join the Night-Fae covenant get to bring her up to speed on what has happened via a quickly rushed together play. Giving her a quick afterlife crisis as a Titan got killed, the planet got impaled, wars started, a world tree got burned down, Old gods tried to take over (again) and the Banshee queen is trying to doom all of existence. She herself also figuring out that the nightmare she had of Tyrande becoming the Night Warrior is probably also real, lampshading the obvious "She's gone savage" problem. Which i am assuming WE will have to deal with it.

Actually, now since you mention it... I strongly feel like this expansion will end with an epic confrontation between Arthas and Sylvanas! That would make a totally senseful ending!

@@RAMBO14001 I suspect it's actually going to be a matrix styled (Neo-vs-Mr. Smith) showdown between Sylvanus and Tyrande. The two sisters have become the avatars of life (Elune) and death (Jailer). And based on the cinematic in which Tyrande effortlessly smokes Nathanos, her power seems to be continuing to grow. By the end of the expansion, her power will probably match her sisters. Then the two antagonistic forces of the cosmos will collide and cancel each other out.

@@YoSorcerer Nah. Eonar empowered Ysera indirectly with the Keepers. The way the Winter Queen “revives” Ysera here is also VERY similar to how Elune put Ysera to rest. Same Music, Constellations, etc. And Ardenweald is the autumn/winter version of the Dream. So, Elune makes sense. Also, Elune is a “goddess”, and the Winter Queen considers her sister to be “vexing”. So, Elune probably has a god complex in a sense lol
It's Elune, the pronunciation might be wrong, 😂😂, but she said my sisters pet, the "owner" of Ysera is Elune, so that makes the winter queen her sister, my mind is blown.
I don't know why it bothers me that Ysera has eyelashes and eyeshadow 😅
I do hope we get to see Elune finally and maybe this whole thing can tie into the other patches...
Knowing Blizzard there had to be a Horde vs other faction conflict too in a later patch, so yeah...

I actually cried during this cut-scene
Elune has a lot to be grateful when it comes Ysera. Ysera helped save and blessed her "chosen people" (the Night Elves) and she saved and raised her son, Cenarius. A lot of people seem to be confusing Elune's gratitude with some sort of deeper connection. Eonar empowered and reshaped Ysera and charged her with protecting Azeroth through the Emerald Dream. Therefore, Ysera serves Eonar, making her Eonar's "pet". The Winter Queen's words are a clear reference to Eonar, not Elune. I think Eonar and the Winter Queen are two sides of the same coin, together they represent the full cycle of life, with the Winter Queen representing the stage between death and rebirth. Winter in the Shadowlands is used to represent the time the soul spends in Ardenweald recovering before it is returned to the world of the living through rebirth.
It's also worth noting that Eonar's blessing to Ysera and Alexstrasza sort of mirrors her relation to her sister, the Winter Queen. Both protect life at different stages and in different realms, much like what she did with Ysera and Alexstrasza. Eonar granted each sister a portion of her power, that while essentially doing the same/complementing things, would be done through different realms, causing the sisters to spend most of their lifetimes separated in order to fulfill their duty. I suspect the story between Eonar and the Winter Queen might be similar. I wouldn't be surprised if there's even a bit of resentment with the way the cards were dealt. I know I'm 3 years late but I've only just got back into the game in the last 2 weeks after stopping for personal reasons part-way through Shadowlands. Shadowlands has it's flaws and I can agree to all of them, but I don't care what anyone says, this whole part of the story and everything else involving the Winter Queen made it tolerable and somewhat likeable for me. Ysera's death hit me hard and her return was so beautifully done I bawled for a solid 10 minutes. I would 100% repurchase Shadowlands if I had to, just to experience Ardenweald all over again. The place was beautiful and had me kind of emotionally attached. A lot of Shadowlands was done so wrong, but Ardenweald was done so right in my opinion

I don't really get where people are getting that the Winter Queen meant Eonar is her sister. Eonar's connection to Ysera is indirect at best, because Freya used her portion of Eonar's power to uplift her as an Aspect. But Ysera is literally the adoptive mother of Elune's only child? And has a lot of history with the night elves and worshippers of Elune. Not to mention that Elune is supposed to have some connection to the Dream herself, and she was the one who saved Ysera's spirit when she died. Also, the Titans are beings from our reality, where the Eternal Ones like the Winter Queen, the Archon, etc., exist solely in the reality of the Shadowlands. There's never been direct interaction between those two realms til now. It's gotta be Elune she's referring to.
It stems from the fact that Winter Queen is a member of the Pantheon of Death. Eonar is a member of the Pantheon of Order. While Winter Queen represents the death part of natural life and death cycle, Eonar cares about life part, that is why they are "sisters".
It is also pointed that Elune seems to have connections to almost all cosmic forces. She can intervene in mortal planes while Winter Queen cannot. Elune is revered as goddess across entire universe.
But I do agree that most recent events are indicating that Elune is her sister. Not Eonar.
I really wish they could have done the saving Ysera scene without outright telling us it was her before the reveal. I would have serially died if I had just been strongly suspecting (like I was in the begging) but then have it confirmed upon seeing the constellation.
Still, best part of Shadowlands by a country mile.

Why does the winterqueen not know who Ysera and Ursoc are? I feel that would be important knowledge. That would like Revendrath not knowing who Garrosh Hellscream is.
That's simple. They're nothing compared to the infinity that is the shadowlands.
They're eternals and have existed for God knows how long.
Your accomplishments and life in your world don't mean anything to the countless souls they've seen.
Every souls in the universe goes to the shadowlands. And the universe is pretty fucking big.
She knows who they are, she even refers to Ysera as her sister's "pet", as for Ursoc.. he is important to Azeroth, but he is not that special among the Azerothian wild gods, then you factor in Ardenweald also oversees the rebirth of every wild good from every planet in the universe, then.. well.. Ursoc is small beans compared to that big picture.

It's safe to say that Ardenweald is a discound version of Athel Loren from Warhammer fantasy. I mean come on, the huge ass tree that is basically the Warcraft's version of Oak of Ages, the Wild Hunt thing, the Winter queen being also a Warcraft version of Ariel, the mage queen of Athel Loren and probably other stuff you can immediately compare it to.
That rebirth scene made a 50-y/o man cry.
I kinda feels that the Winter Queen is gonna take a huge rol at the end of the expansion.
And 2 years later we all know now that it was a waste of a good character for such terrible expansion on terms of lore.

So... the Winter Queen is the sister of Eonar? So that'd mean she's a Titan too. Maybe the way the Shadowlands is divided isn't what it seems after all.. and maybe the green world of Eonar is one of the twins and the blue one is actually Ardenweald.
