I noticed those twists, but didn't know if anyone else noticed them as well. Now I know about enharmonics. You're right in that it gives an emotional feeling, and a twist. Kind of magical.
I've just listened (and looked at) Michael Buble's version. It's in F# (seven sharps 😓) there is a lovely thing in this version just after "laughter fills the air .." it drops to a Dadd2 which is oh-so-spicy. What's it doing functionally? There are also B minor chords (which contain D as a minor 3rd).
That was fascinating! I've heard that song every holiday and previously never gave it much thought. And if any of my songs become hits, I'd be happy to send a little something your way.

You can’t escape this song no matter where you go lol. Great video on the harmonic insights of this one.
Glad it’s helpful
Have a nice Christmas & happy New Year.
You too
Great Explanation.
Merry Christmas to you
And to you!

Absolutely

That D chord is a warm extended chord. The add 2 is another way of describing a 9th chord with the 9th at close quarters in the texture.
Absolutely amazing. And I scarcely have a clue 😊
😀
@@MusicMattersGB I’m truly appreciate your efforts. Merry Christmas and all the best for the new year 🎵
The same to you.
Would it be 'wrong' to think of the C-6/Eb as a borrowed iv chord? Oh - and don't worry I've got you down for 10% on my next hit lol:)
Good to know about the 10%! You could think about it as a borrowed IV with an added 6th. IV with an added 6th is really a II7 in first inversion.
Honestly surprised you haven't done Chopin's Nocturne in Eb Major Op 9 no2. Great video though.
We’ll get there

Good luck!
