Maybe I don't have the full story on Chris' rich idle but I would think dialing idle CO in with the mixture seat would be more critical than CO readings at mid - range rpm which would tend to balance by throttle position. Does that make any sense?
I am curious what would cause the bearing disintegration? If the engine was rebuilt why that much wear. I have a 1970 1800e. I use the Kendal20-50 high-zinc oil. My 1800 just hit 57,000 original miles is there anything I should be concerned of or send the oil off to lab analysis?
Amy's centre bearing? That was fitted years ago, then Amy & Niall won the LEJoG event in December 2021, where they were on ice for over 24h as they entered Scotland - so plenty of salt on the trunk roads. Then 10 months resting, before heading out on the Dansport, and the salt did it's worst... Rob

Also I do drive the crap out of the car and do higher speed runs on the interstate.

...and not forgetting the deep fords that are the hallmark of a good winter rally, ie the wheel and centre bearings all get immersed while rotating.
