I’ve always thought they made a big mistake on 90210 and Charmed taking your character off the show. Both were better shows with you. It’s a shame you couldn’t talk to anyone. Show wasn't the same once she left. The show was at its best when shown from the viewpoint of either twin and then later Dylan. The show was still entertaining through season 5 and then through the departure of Dylan. But without Shannon and Luke that was the end. I believe Shannon, Jason, and Luke were the irreplaceable elements.
Years 5-10 had a more relaxing vibe that made the name 90210 more solid than it was but the Brenda years is what established the show as a force to be reckoned with.
My mother watched this show in the beginning. Hiding it from me until I caught her one time when I came home late. I didn't personally watch it until I was SAHM in the 2000's.
When we are in our 20's, we don't have the words to describe a parents' illness or if you are in an abusive relationship. I don't think anyone is able to articulate what one is going through unless they start therapy or reach the age of 27 years old.
This was great - I can totally see Jason's smile every time he chuckles. Thanks for letting us in on your convo. You two are definitely my favorite BH characters - clan Walsh for the win. Hugs. Stay strong - take care of yourself and know that your cancer family has you in our hearts. It's not a family anybody wants to belong to - but we're all in it together, no matter what. My cancerversary is this month - the 28th marks 11 years since my double mastectomy - and my nerves are shot - even 11 years out it's still emotional and difficult. But none of us is alone in this -no matter where we are on the journey.....we are a fierce tribe.

This was a great podcast, thank you to Jason for coming on, it was great to hear him and for you both to share your stories of life during the filming of 90210! I am so glad for you, Shannen, that you're finally getting your side of the story out there. Many of us already knew you got a raw deal and we were not getting the full story. I'm just so sorry you had to go through what you were going through under a microscope like that while you were still growing and maturing- we ALL did stupid shit, made bad choices, acted out- its part of youth- part of learning- but you had your life splashed across the pages of every tabloid, and that was so terribly unfair. I'm sorry the reboot didn't work, I actually liked it- OR, I was just so happy to see you all, I was willing to like it. The reason the original 90210 was SO good back in the day is because there were NO shows that represented US. Sure there were plenty of silly sitcoms, but any real drama was not geared towards our age group; our demographic were just ancillary characters to the greater family dynamic, dealing with minor issues on a very surface-level aspect. Beverly Hills 90210 was about US (even those of us on the East Coast, lol) I'll never forget seeing 90210 for the first time- I was mesmerized, like what is THIS?! Back then, no cable, no internet, so the show just kind of appeared out of nowhere when, I think I was about 17, ( I am right between you and Tori, Shannen). The show tackled real issues that we were going through right with you, like prom, first sexual experience, parents, grades, boyfriends, mean friends (frenemies), jealousy, cheating, substance use/abuse, suicide- tempered of course with plenty of fashion, music, fun and silliness to still keep it light when it needed to be. BUT, now that time has passed, and we realize how impactful the show was, and how much your fans still love and adore you, and want to see you all together, can you possibly revisit the idea of a "30-something" (well, 50-something) type reboot to get the cast all together to deal with things people our age are going through? I would clarify to say, please just don't mess it up with focusing too much on the extended families (teenagers) story-lines, which is what the new version of 90210 did, and in my opinion, why it didn't catch on with the existing fans- the original cast was reduced to a bunch of moms & dads, and the teen stories took over- we were being displaced again! The teenage storylines worked when we were teenagers- and now that we are in our 40-50's, we want to connect with the characters, again, not a whole slew of new characters of every age group, if that makes sense (Sex and the City reboot is doing this right now, and fans are not happy with all the "kid" storylines with that one, either). I know we all miss Luke, our Dylan, but we can still remember him and talk about him, just like we do in real life. I am keeping you in my prayers, Shannen. Thanks for letting us see these little glimpses.

Wrinkle-scarred faces are not something that the actors are longing to show and are not what the Netflix users want (need) to get to see. After all, Luke is not here anymore. IMHO, Luke & Brenda story was the driver of the entire show throughout. Even when Brenda was not right there within the frame, she still was there in the picture. The 90's tabloids' sh*t has gone to nought, and the original BH90210 is the only thing left.

My mom was pregnant with me when she watched the last year of little house, so I’ve always loved little house and listened even then lol. I was a kid during 90210 and my mom and aunt would watch. I wanted dark hair like Brenda, and my mom wouldn’t let me dye my hair, smh but I was like 7 or something lol. I didn’t always understand what was going on in that show back but I loved Brenda and when I re watched as I got older and could understand what was going on - I still rooted for Brenda. Tv twins reunited. Awesome. Love hearing you two reminisce. Love all your work and the show Wasn’t the same without you - I don’t even know besides what I’ve read- what happened at the end.
I started working in high school. My schedule for work was open EXCEPT for Thursday nights. I had to be off for 90210 🤣 Management began to wonder why I had to have Thursday nights off after a few months of being hired. My boss came up to me one evening and asked, “Why can you NOT come in for work?” He wanted an answer and I didn’t want to give it to him. Finally, I had to. The dude raised his voice and said, “All this time you wanted Thursday nights off for that!? I cannot believe it.” He thought it was a school or family obligation. The following week, he had me on the schedule for Thursday night. I had to find someone to cover my shift until summer hiatus of the show 🤣

I soooo wanted to love the reboot. You guys hit the nail on the head. It just wasn't what the fans were looking for. I'm glad to hear y'all speak on it. I didn't know there were issues on set. Actually now I do remember hearing that "Shannen" was causing problems again. Something along those lines lol. I decided to ignore it at that point 😂
I never knew that’s the reason Shannen was fired because she was late due to her marital problems, media basically made Shannen look like a bully. However Brenda wasn’t a big loss because I was only a baby during Shannen’s time there and I only remember the later seasons when I was a bit older. As for the reboot I thought it was great I remember people being disappointed because it got canceled not because it wasn’t like the original but idk. And I will say for me Shannen was phenomenal in Charmed she is always going to be Prue and I definitely favour Charmed more over 90210.
It still tends to bother me how she still (even today) gets branded as the quote on quote: "Bad Girl" -to me that kind of behavior is quite like watching someone taking a sheet of paper, writing the words "Kick Me" and taping it onto her back. The media should be ashamed of themselves for the conduct they displayed towards her (and so many others like Shannen in general).

You had to be watching this show when it originally aired to understand its mass popularity. It was much see TV. Tiffani Theissen deserves mad credit for stepping in when Shannen left. The last 2-3 seasons were weak with bringing on so many new characters, while losing beloved ones. But, damn, nobody could touch them in their day. A lot of shows tried to copy them, and they all tanked and fast.
In my very honest opinion, I quite frankly always thought of Shannen/Brenda by far as perhaps the most humane presence of this series. She was never, nor do I even go so far as to thinking of her by any matter of means as all these needless derogatory terms in the dictionary that all these magazines, the "g-word" collums, in conjunction with the press, media and other outlets of miscellaneous description had attempted so woefully and rather crudely to display and portray her as such. She's had her flaws and imperfections just as we all have our very own fair share of much the same in the existence and time we are given upon this realm we live. Likewise with all rest of us, from the moments of trial and error we all face on a day to day basis, we all learn from them and evolve out of them to become who we are to the present day and that is what makes her as well as all the rest of us entirely human in every sense. As for those who have attempted to (and continue to) smeer her in such fashion, my question to those parties is when was the last time that they took the moment to turn their eyes inwards to find what sort of foul stench they have been carrying? With that mindset, I greatly hope that Shannen is doing very well these days and I most humbly wish to her all the absolute best that life has to offer. 🙂

I think that would be a great reboot with 20/30 years later with maybe Brandon married to Emily (maybe? ) and have twins (Brian and Brianna) and let the next generation roll with this generation ❤
Yeah I was very disappointed. I waited for so many years for Beverly Hills guys to gather together again and see what their lives look like after all these years... And what did I get? The story about the cast... I'm sorry but we wanted to see Brandon and Brenda and Kelly and other guys again together, their personalities that grew up with time. Why couldn't you do that show??
I loved the reboot but as a long time fan of 90210 I personally think it should of been the characters 30 years later.. we all wanted to know what had went on with character stories and where they turned out being in life.. the reboot was fun but kinda confusing to catch onto. But thats just my personal take on it.

Actually now I do remember hearing that "Shannen" was causing problems again. Something along those lines lol. I decided to ignore it at that point 😂
I never knew that’s the reason Shannen was fired because she was late due to her marital problems, media basically made Shannen look like a bully.
However Brenda wasn’t a big loss because I was only a baby during Shannen’s time there and I only remember the later seasons when I was a bit older.
As for the reboot I thought it was great I remember people being disappointed because it got canceled not because it wasn’t like the original but idk.
And I will say for me Shannen was phenomenal in Charmed she is always going to be Prue and I definitely favour Charmed more over 90210.
It still tends to bother me how she still (even today) gets branded as the quote on quote: "Bad Girl" -to me that kind of behavior is quite like watching someone taking a sheet of paper, writing the words "Kick Me" and taping it onto her back. The media should be ashamed of themselves for the conduct they displayed towards her (and so many others like Shannen in general).
@@justinharvey1355 I think she was branded a Bad Girl because people were jealous, she just had that Star quality and stood out more amongst the crowd. Although I dunno why Jason it doing this podcast after what he’s said about Shannen being difficult and apparently he visited Shannen on the set of Charmed and wrote that Shannen told him she hated Alyssa…

I would like much more of 90210
You had to be watching this show when it originally aired to understand its mass popularity. It was much see TV. Tiffani Theissen deserves mad credit for stepping in when Shannen left. The last 2-3 seasons were weak with bringing on so many new characters, while losing beloved ones. But, damn, nobody could touch them in their day. A lot of shows tried to copy them, and they all tanked and fast.

In my very honest opinion, I quite frankly always thought of Shannen/Brenda by far as perhaps the most humane presence of this series. She was never, nor do I even go so far as to thinking of her by any matter of means as all these needless derogatory terms in the dictionary that all these magazines, the "g-word" collums, in conjunction with the press, media and other outlets of miscellaneous description had attempted so woefully and rather crudely to display and portray her as such. She's had her flaws and imperfections just as we all have our very own fair share of much the same in the existence and time we are given upon this realm we live. Likewise with all rest of us, from the moments of trial and error we all face on a day to day basis, we all learn from them and evolve out of them to become who we are to the present day and that is what makes her as well as all the rest of us entirely human in every sense. As for those who have attempted to (and continue to) smeer her in such fashion, my question to those parties is when was the last time that they took the moment to turn their eyes inwards to find what sort of foul stench they have been carrying?
With that mindset, I greatly hope that Shannen is doing very well these days and I most humbly wish to her all the absolute best that life has to offer.

Yeah I was very disappointed. I waited for so many years for Beverly Hills guys to gather together again and see what their lives look like after all these years... And what did I get? The story about the cast... I'm sorry but we wanted to see Brandon and Brenda and Kelly and other guys again together, their personalities that grew up with time.

I loved the reboot but as a long time fan of 90210 I personally think it should of been the characters 30 years later.. we all wanted to know what had went on with character stories and where they turned out being in life.. the reboot was fun but kinda confusing to catch onto. But thats just my personal take on it.

Why can we not see a video of them talking like when the podcast is advertised. I only ever see the still image of Shannen
The only thing I can think of is that maybe she isn't feeling the greatest after getting treatment and she can basically do it in her pj's if she wants to. Chemo can really drain a person big time.
Oh I get that but when I see this advertised I can see her and Jason talking but not when I actually watch it. The same thing when she had Holly on.

The reboot was awesome! It was a mistake to cancel it.
Well the show sucked when Shannen left. I mean, it sucked anyway, but she made it watchable. I always liked her so much as an actress, and so much as a non conformist in a business full of followers.
