- This is the best tool I have seen so far when it comes to installing Wordpress on your own PC, Mac or Linux computer. It is free, easy to install and easy to configure! And yes, it is better than ServerPress.
It also has more options than ServerPress. With "Local" By Flywheel you can even go live from your own computer so you can show you client what you have done so far.

Thanks Ferdy. To everyone, just make sure you are using the lightning version. The old one which is also called local by flywheel is slow and presents all sort of challenges to use. The one used by Ferdy in this video is what you should use. It's fast and easy to use. I like it.

Amazing. You're not going to believe this Ferdy. I was looking for a way to refamiliarize myself with building a Wordpress website on my mac with a self-hosted platform on my mac as I'd done it before a year and a half ago or so. So, I was searching all around on youtube for videos to get me going with again and COULD NOT FIND A GOOD ONE! Then I remembered that you had shown us how a month or so ago and I said to myself I'll just go to Ferdy's channel and look around for it AND YOU MADE THE EXACT NEW VIDEO I NEEDED TODAY on the 17th of April. Just installed Local by Flywheel last night. Set up a custom install running php 8, mysql 8, apache 2, WordPress 5.9
Running Windows 10 X64 bit. Works well.

Thanks, Fredy. Your video was awesome. I once installed WordPress using Bitnami and the Xamp server way (download and self-install) which was quite long and stressful. I find Local quite easy and rewarding at the same time.

Hi Ferdy! I am so glad that you have talked about Local By FlyWheel! To be honest, I was not a fan of this part of your elementor and divi website creation tutorials spanning from 2016?? up until now because it was always starts with domain name and webhosting but never about setting it up offline. Anyways, aside from that, keep up the good work! Everytime I search for Elementor related tutorials, its always your channel that pops up! That is good SEO! Keep it up and thank you for being an Elementor advocate.

Thank you! Your video is just what I needed. I watched many before yours, and none of them mentioned that WordPress would be installed by Local. Their videos all showed existing websites in their Local app. Not really starting from scratch. I was trying to figure out how to install WordPress, when it had no exe file. I also had trouble at first with Admin login not working for me. If this were not an issue, I would have seen WordPress was already installed. I finally made a new site and it didn't have the login issue. Thanks! I'm off to watch more of your videos.

Hey Ferdy! Happy Xmas!Love your site. When going to hosting do you have to do anything with the plugins and themes? Or does it go directly? IS is worth it to save the website in local as templates and import it in the real hosting?

Great step by step guide, and I love Local. I had a problem though with an auto generated password the first time I logged back in to wpadmin. I tried their steps to resolve it, but could not get rid of the auto generated password, so have had to go to MAMP method

Thank you for this video, personally I prefer not to use the local installation for my website but to install them in private mode so we have a real online hosting without being public including being not seen by the search engine since no DNS is associated. Of course not all web hosting offers a private mode for developing a website and then the only solution is to use a site locally.
I prefer that too. This is a solution for people that want start with Wordpress without getting webhosting.
I don't know if you read these but BRO .... I have watched all of your videos from the past year ... I have learned how to make websites ... I did my first website for a medical equipment company ... now I'm doing a florist website ... I have no idea what I would do without your content !!!! Ferdy, I install local by flywheel on my pc, then make my new website with elementor builder then put some template of astra with background images, then i click the link of the live site on local by flywheel and paste it on my browser the website is complete like what's on the preview site on elementor, but if i sent the Live link of the flywheel to my friends, and paste it on a browser the images of my website disappeared.

Thanks, great video. When sending the client a link to preview the site, the images show as black boxes. I can't find a way to solve this issue. I can see them all on my computer, but the client sees black boxes. Any ideas on how to fix this? The URL to the image uses the local site, but the URL for LOCAL is the random URL they give us for preview.

I've been wanting to redo it, but since I'm not full-bottle on it all, I wondered how to create and activate a new site but retain all of the extras like the "google key" and other such things? You can tell how confused I am! I'm trying to figure out how to move the things which I've implemented over time which I "think" help my site get found in a search, etc. Help? How do I start? xx
Hi Tracy, thank you. I would export your site to a different place, change everything you want but make sure all the urls are the same and put it back on your live website.

@Ferdy Korpershoek is it possible to migrate an existing Wordpress site into a local Wordpress site using "local by flywheel"? it seems like their are no tutorials showing this one issue, and using the 'all in one migrate' plug-in doesn't work as most existing projects are over the size limit for the plug-in. So far I believe no one has made a video about this one subject, it might be a cool topic to cover and I'm sure thousands of Wordpress users would appreciate. Thank you.

Why you created the site on Local the server was NGINX.
Do you have to use the same server when you upload to SiteGround, or can you use another server like Apache?

Hi Ferdy, I have installed and make multiple websites in local+wp on my external disk, sofar so good. But when I move to an other computer and launch the disk elsewhere it does not show (after login) my websites.

I’ve try to do everything but I can’t get it work, i installed correctly the wp versión it stay loading forever and when I go to the site I get 404 error and with the admin page it’s the same... In case you experienced the same issue as I did, it's possible that you might have been using the Apache server and MySQL via Xamp or wamp with another application. To fix the error:
1. In the Local Application, click the hamburger menu and select Preferences.
2. In the Preferences menu, go to Advanced, then at the Router Mode, select localhost option, then click apply. Close the Advanced window.
3. At the home window, you'll get a warning. Click Fix it this will take care of the issue.
4. Click the Admin or View Site buttons to see if it worked.
