I tried but my live version of the WPvivid Backup is showing contents in both Part 1 and Part 2 of the download (instead of just 1 download). Thanks very much. Works very well. BUT be sure to disable some plugin's before backing up an online copy for local use. Hostgator's plugin which is automatically installed and ACTIVATED on new sites really screws up your local WP install!!! 😫

Found this video after another youtuber video showed how to use all-in-one free plugin and didn't mention the 2Mb file limit, must be paid to make you use the unlimited non free version, wasted a lot of time. Tried ways of increasing the limit but no luck. Will watch this video now, hopefully more luck...

ANyhow I proceeded with the restore, it got the website showing there but all the pages except home page were giving 404 error. Anyway I can do this correctly. Please let me know what did I miss? I haven't worked with wordpress in a couple years and now I'm trying to update a friends old site with 0 downtime. I'm used to copying files over ftp and using phpmyadmin to download a copy of the database but his webhost hasn't given us access to anything like cpanel. Looks like this might be a viable solution to replicate his site to my local dev environment then to publish it when ready. Thanks for sharing this!

Not a day goes by that (on various blogger groups) I don't see people screaming about their problems with their website and their hosting company.. Issue after issue after issue.. I have none of those issues staying with WP... I have heard various arguments as to why I need to get hosted but none of them offer me enough to want to gain all those issues..

I take your point about diluting your business domain with unnecessary content, I have added some personal posts I want to have on another domain, so rather than the old copy and paste, I thought I could get a direct copy, and then delete the person posts of the business domain, and vice versa with the personal domain.

I see this as extremely useful for creating a redundant server/copy of client sites. In case of hacks etc. Do you have any other thoughts on this? For example main client site A gets hacked (backups may have backdoors etc.) So, you identify the security concern and just point the DNS to another server? For instance I think this could have saved me a lot of time when wp file manager hack we had recently happened. I'd just go to the server with the copy of the site and make sure wp file manager is not active on the site (delete the plugin before going live). Go live, point DNS and burn the old server. Any thoughts?

Does this only work from local to live or can it be also used for, one live site to another?
With this new plugin you can migrate to any site as well. Allows you to DL a backup of your entire site to use for the process.

I've tried a few times now and it keeps timing out on the backup stage. Got to try a few more times I think and hopefully it'll work.
