    This was one of THE best Mustang upgrade videos I've ever seen, and I'm pretty sure I've seen them all. Outstanding content, tremendous vehicle, this was not only extremely interesting but was weaved together and narrated in a fun and informative way. Thanks for your expertise and for the time it took to put this together. Highly enjoyable, great work, and a truly awesome Mustang build.

      Freedom Fighter, I can’t tell how much your comments mean to me. Your words hit straight to my heart, and I am incredibly grateful, not only for the time you took to watch the video, but the time you spent to leave the nicest and most flattering comments. I am humbled by your remarks, and it has made my entire year just reading this! Thank you, you have no idea how much I appreciate your words, and what an impact they have made on me. Thank you.

    Ford gave up on racing the voodoo engine after one year. Vibration was very much the problem. Too many rebuilds and Ford could not sell such a bomb to private race shops. So they dropped it.

    This is such a great video. Really appreciate you spelling out all the details of the build, and sharing what the driving experience feels like. I just bought a 2013 gt with a cobra jet manifold and full exhaust and I'm completely in love with it! I know it's not much compared to your boss 302, I bet that thing is a complete animal. Have you considered taking the car to Circuit of The Americas? It's such a good track.

      Congratulations on your 2013 GT! Our S197 platforms are very capable, and I know we share the same enthusiasm over the Cobra Jet Intake Manifold. It really makes a big difference on N/A Coyotes. COTA is on my bucket list! It looks like such a fun track and great overall experience.

    I own a ‘19 GT350 and owned a C7 Z06 so I can say this.....at 8:30 a C6 corvette pulls away from you rapidly 😁. S197/550 mustangs are good cars and my GT350 is great, but a C5/6 corvette is the best track car for the money. And an LS is even more bullet proof than a coyote. And C6s are easy to turn into a dedicated track car.

    • @TrackingPonies
      @TrackingPonies  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are 100% correct, and I completely agree! The C5 and C6 are the best overall track cars for the money. I don’t think this fact will ever change.
      Having owned both LS and Coyote vehicles/motors, I prefer the Coyote, but to each their own. In all fairness, my foot wasn’t in it at 8:30. I’m still learning that turn as a novice driver. Normally, I can pass stock C5/C6 Corvettes no problem (as seen in my other videos), but your C7 Z06 is an issue.
      Thanks for checking out the video! I appreciate your comment. BTW, I’m sure your C7 Z06 was blisteringly scary fast around the track!!! You’re probably the better driver, too, so I can only imagine what sitting shotgun with you around the track must be like!!!

    • @timeatak5248
      @timeatak5248 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TrackingPonies Well shame on me for commenting without knowing the full details. As I tell myself and my buddies I go to the track with, “your only as fast as your tires and comfort level allow.” You can’t go wrong with either engine though. Both proven blocks and thank God we have a choice! C7Z is very quick but it’s a handful on track. Plus I get heat soak timing retard and lose some ponies as the day progresses. The Boss 302S is a great car. I think it is really underrated as a track car. I just picked up the GT350 so I’ll see how it stacks up against the Z at the next track day. Great video BTW the build and drive are both very well done!

    Cool vid, I would like to know how much faster your lap times are and how much did all this cost you?

    • @TrackingPonies
      @TrackingPonies  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Let me review our data logs to give you a more accurate representation of how much faster around the track our lap times have progressed after all of the modifications. Depending on how mild or wild you want the build to be, I would estimate anywhere between $30k - $50k, not including expendables such as tires, brake pads, fluids, maintenance, etc…

    • @TrackingPonies
      @TrackingPonies  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s approximately 3400 lbs right now. In a few weeks, I estimate we’ll be dead even with the Boss 302S at approximately 3350 lbs after more weight reduction. I’d love to get below 3250, but the roll cage added back significant weight.

    I have published my build with you guys before, im a complete NA full wieght car, 2012 Mustang GT.
    I'm fully built, by Bret Barber and I'm 530 to 540 rear wheel. I'm currently the fastest Coyote NA mustang in AZ. I often beat cars fitted with turbocharger or supercharger power adders. Again , I'm all motor no nitrous or any other power adder of any kind.
    I built an AMP stage 3 MT82 trans and so far can run up to 9000 with no issues. I got the car for 17,000.oo and have to date put 43,000.oo into it. When the oil business starts back up I will be getting rid of the steeda suspension components and moving to cortex as well, in the rear. Wanting to go to the long torsion bar and wattslink from Cortex. In the front wanting to go to Maximum Motorsports complete front end with coilovers in the front. Then ofcoarse brakes upgrades. Planning on using the GT500 package as well. I wont be tracking as hard as you guys and my kids still enjoy the back seat, lol just went with race louvers for hood venting and installed them as well. Looking at ordering fender vents fron Professional Awsome Racing. Any thoughts??

      Oh, yes...I remember your build! It's the engine build I started drooling over when you described it to me in the comments section of the "5 Reasons Why We Are DESTROYING Our Ford Mustang BOSS 302" video. I am posting the link below, so if anyone else is reading this comment thread, they can click the link, scroll below the video, and read your comment where you list the parts, details, and describe just how big of an N/A beast your 2012 Mustang GT is and how it hurts many, many feelings.
      th-cam.com/video/UgFVnFmoiwY/w-d-xo.html
      If it's not obvious, I am very impressed. The fact that you have your back seat, can drive it on the street, and take your kids for ice cream is the best. I have no doubt your the fastest N/A Coyote in AZ, and probably one of the fastest N/A Coyotes in other states as well.

      @@TrackingPonies thank you for the kind words. Has anyone else, to your knowledge used a mixture of Maximum Motorsports & Cortex as far as suspension goes.?.? Do you see any issues I could run into by doing that

    • @TrackingPonies
      @TrackingPonies  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Let me think critically about your question. I don’t think you would have an issue given you can achieve correct suspension geometry and dampening with said parts (MM in the front, CorteX in the rear). I’m sure CorteX would tell you to use all CorteX, and MM would say use all MM and don’t mix parts from different aftermarket manufacturers. Since I’m an expert in not knowing anything at all whatsoever, I’ll ask Eric @ Galpin Auto Sports who built our BOSS 302, and I’ll check with the buddies at CorteX. Stand by...

  • @warwolf0
    @warwolf0 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Honestly, I'm surprised you haven't blown the MT82 more times. From what I've seen, the original stock street engine was planned to be somewhere between 7800 and 8000 RPM red line, but due to the transmission not being able to handle it, they had to stick to the 7500 Red Line that it has stock.

    • @TrackingPonies
      @TrackingPonies  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What if I told you we are on our third MT-82?
      1st MT-82: Stock, replaced under warranty.
      2nd MT-82: RST, Lines, Barton, Blowfish
      3rd MT-82: MagForce, Lines, TOB, MGW
      So far, the 3rd and current MT-82 is performing surprisingly well. You made excellent points on all counts. Thank you for commenting and sharing your knowledge on the MT-82 and engine speed / redline limitations!

    • @warwolf0
      @warwolf0 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TrackingPonies I saw from the video that you were on your third. I just also noticed you had the 8000 redline and higher torque, both of which causes the MT82 to grenade itself so if you were sticking with the MT82 I would have thought it would be more like 6th or 7th. I have a 2012 orange like yours... minus the fact it's still mostly stock (Ducts installed, For Racing GT500 axel backs and stainless brake lines are only mods) MT82 has perfect ratios... just wish it wasn't such a lemon

    • @TrackingPonies
      @TrackingPonies  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed, I’m surprised this MT-82 is surviving 8000 RPM shifts. It has been problem-free, and felt great yesterday on track. However, I have a feeling we are on borrowed time. I also agree the ratios are great, especially for road racing. Congratulations to both of us for having fine taste in vehicles for owning Comp Orange Bosses!

    What was the weight of the Boss 302 Track car? Ford claims 3650 pounds for stock Boss 302

    • @TrackingPonies
      @TrackingPonies  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, Danny! I hope you are well. It's funny you ask this, as we were going to weigh the car again after this last round of weight reduction (including a lighter clutch and flywheel). The last time we weighed the car, it was approximately 3432 pounds with no driver or fuel in the tank (I think, I have to find the printout to verify this info). The BOSS 302S turnkey track car is approximately 3350 pounds with no driver or fuel in the tank. 3350 pounds is the target weight for our BOSS 302 track car, and a few new ideas and mods will help us go even lighter (hopefully).

    • @TrackingPonies
      @TrackingPonies  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you - the Boss 302 is one of the best cars I’ve driven on track. That’s saying a lot considering it has a live rear axle!
      $30-40K. If you are knowledgeable and crafty, you can save a lot of money installing engine and suspension bolt-ons in your own garage. The majority of the budget here goes to seam welding, weight reduction, and general welding for the roll cage.
      If you are like me lacking dexterity and problem-solving skills and need a professional to install everything, then the project budgets closer to $40-50K.

      @@TrackingPonies Thanks for sharing that. So many open trackers start out by pouring money into power upgrades....I learned that that hard way...lol. Weight reduction, aero, sticky tires and seat time is where I've made by biggest gains. Moving into a Boss 302S was huge! Make me look so good as a intermediate driver.

    • @TrackingPonies
      @TrackingPonies  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      IMO, you couldn’t be more correct or accurate with your statement. In fact, if I had to do it all over again, engine upgrades for more power would be the last variable on the list. As you stated, seat time is everything. Suspension, brakes, wheel/tire, and weight reduction make an enormous impact on the driving dynamics and handling characteristics of a vehicle, resulting in a greater net decrease in lap times compared to the net decrease in lap times of extra high rpm horsepower. I definitely agree with you.
