I can only suggest you adding the "Just Enough Items" Mod. it will make searching and looking up reciped so much easier! no more searching wikis because you need steel. On the Bottom of the Inventory, there will be a search bar you can type the name of the Item you want in. On the right side, youll see a list of all items in the game. you can use the R (Recipe) Key while hovering over an Item to show the recipe and the U (Usage) key to see the Usage of it. If you have a recipe or usage window, up top there will be a list with different methods you can use the item for/ where to craft it. On the left of that Inventory, there will be the block or multiblock you need to craft it on which you also can press the R or U key. Another big QOL thing the mods adds is: if you press the A key, the item will get pinned to the left of your screen for easy accsess. I nearly forgot the biggest thing: if you are in a crafting table or in your inventory, a little + will appear in the boottom left while looking up a recipe when it can be made there. you can then shift-leftclick to automatically put the items in the right slot of the crafting inventory
Can't forget getting OneProbe or WAILA, so that you can tell what ores are what with a pop up hud, should be useful especially since there are modded ores.

The train machines are expensive. I would suggest making a miner or whatever it’s called from Imersive Enginnering. Then you can get Tons of iron and coal. Trust me you’ll go insane if you gather all that coal and Iron by hand
That sounds more like you're not installing it properly. Forge rarely fails to load a single mod if you do it properly. In case you don't know how to, I'll leave brief instructions. If you do know how, and it's actually some kind of unusual, bizarre, one in a million kind of issue, you can just ignore this part. 1) go to files.minecraftforge.net/net/minecraftforge/forge/ 2) select the version you want to play in from the drop down menu. (immersive railroading supports all versions except 1.13) 3) download the forge file to anywhere on your computer, doesn't matter where 4) double click it. It should open a small window to install it. Install the client, not the server. 5) when that's done, open your minecraft launcher. In the installation tab, make a new profile using the forge version you just installed (should be obvious). If you want to, I'd suggest also setting a new directory for the profile, so you don't mess up the vanilla profile. 6) run that minecraft profile. It will add all the forge files into the directory for you, including the addition of a "mods" folder 7) download the version of immersive railroading and immersive engineering that match the version of minecraft that you wish to play. So if you chose forge for 1.16.5, download the mods for 1.16.5 as well. 8) put those 2 mods inside of the "mods" folder that was created when you installed forge. 9) run the same minecraft profile again. It should load up with no problems at all. If it crashes, saying it ran out of memory, go into the installations settings in the launcher for that profile and hit more options. Where it says "JVM arguments" change the number 2 in -Xmx2G -XX to something higher like 3 or 4. I would not suggest going higher than 4 if you don't have a strong computer.
This is going to be a very cozy playthrough. P.S. I don't know if Immersive Railroading is as resource consuning as Galactic Craft with Galaxy Space but you definitely shouldn't just pass through any ores because you will run out of raw materials when you will be expecting it the least. Also Iron Chests is a good addition to any modpack.
Small note, villagers can't open fence gates, so if you build your house in the village, a little fenced in garden blocking off your door will stop villagers from stealing your bed. Plus gardens look nice!

I'll admit that I'm a totally new viewer that found you through your first Immersive Railroading video, but honestly I think I'm gonna stay for this series. Your enthusiasm for this is infectious. As for getting enough iron for stuff, I strongly recommend looking up how to build an iron farm. They basically rely on the way how villagers get scared from zombies to create an infinite amount of golems, which get killed in a special kill chamber and drop a few iron ingots (which can be collected using hoppers that lead into chests). If you build the farm within the spawn chunks of your world, the farm will never unload and will produce iron indefinitely. It's a crazy powerful farm that especially for this series should be super helpful.
Dang, this is gonna be so fun, lol This series has been one of my highest anticipated events, and it's such a pleasure to finally see it happen! Maybe for the type of train you construct, you should do some kind of poll on TH-cam for everyone to vote on!
In your creative world where you have or are connecting two near by villages with a rail way, I think you should add a test track (loop) and see how fast your trains can go and decide which train to use on the mainline. I'm not too sure if this train is in the immersive rail roading mod, but you should check out this British train called, The InterCity 125, or the class 43 it's my favourite train to the point where my Roblox user name literally has the name HST (High Speed Train) in it, XD. Either way be sure too check the train out and if it isn't in the mod, then can pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease look it up on the internet, yours amazingly, The smartest person about British trains in the world. 😁 PS: I'm crazy about trains too!

I just started into Immersive Railroading on a server with some friends. So I am literally doing this along with you. So its great to see we aren't the only ones struggle-bussing this. lol.
I know this is old, but I just found this, and it's cool seeing another New Yorker (I'm from Long Island myself) making videos, idk why, we seem like rare birds on YT.
Idea: If you need wood, then focus on logging the forest between the villages. You'll need to do it anyways, so it wood be better to do it sooner, while you need resources
Because you need biodiesel for trains, I suggest you add the "Immersive Petroleum" mod, it adds a way to get diesel, whitch can be used for trains too. You should add the "Immersive Technology" mod too, it adds more features to "Immersive Enginnering". And add the "Just Enough Items" and the "Just Enough Resources" mod, it let's you see recipes for items more easily, that includes mooded items. Also get the "The One Probe" mod, it allows you to see what the block is just by looking at it, and also if you have the right tool to get the item by mining it.
It's been so long since I've enjoyed a let's play... I am so happy that this is it though! Love it! EDIT: I would *highly* recommend making a coke furnace or whatever it's called to make coal coke so you can burn things without spending nearly as much time chopping trees.
I like how one step to setting up a railroad is going to the literal underworld... I mean, if you've ever seen the Soviet AA20 locomotive and how much it sucked that'd seem plausible.

You should try combining this with the mod that makes all the changes in elevation really gradual (so the grades on the mountains and valleys are really shallow and it takes a lot longer to cross them).
Loved the video csx42! I'm watching from Prince George's County, Maryland in case you're wondering! Steam Engines that I would recommend, and this is subject to whether or not the Immersive Railroading Mod has them included in the Mod pack would be the Stanier Class 5 aka "Black 5", Caledonian Railway Class 812/652, and the Great Western Railway 5700 class. These are better known as the types for the Thomas and Friends/ Thomas the Tank Engine characters Henry, Donald and Douglas (The Scottish Twins), and Duck. I might also recommend that you upgrade your Furnaces into Blast Furnaces by putting them into the crafting table and surrounding them with Cobblestone, and after that make three more Blast Furnaces so you have a start at making a "Super Smelter", which just a line of Blast Furnaces with Hoppers feeding into the back to give them the fuel, and on top of them for the item that you want them to smelt. The hoppers are filled via a Minecart with rails running across the top of the hoppers. A Redstone current is what powers the Powered Rails at each end allowing for the Minecart to go back and forth. The items to fuel and smelt in to Blast Furnaces are in separate chests. Also, as soon as you've got Diamond Armor and tools, there will most likely come a time when you'll need to go grab some Netherite, which is about twice as strong as Diamond; you get 10 Full Armor points/Chestplate Icons. You'll need to make a lot of beds since it generates like Diamond, Y level 16 is where you'll normally find it, as Ancient Debris. Put this in the Furnace or Blast Furnace and you'll get Ancient Scrap. Put four of the Ancient scrap with Four Gold Ingots in a crafting table to get a Scrap of Netherite, which you can either put through a Smithing Table (Four wood planks and two Iron Ingots, Ingots on top of the Wood planks) and a piece of Diamond Armor and tools to upgrade it to Netherite *OR* make Netherite Armor and tools in the Crafting Table. Last thing, please build a House for yourself and give the Village a Makeover if you can. Apparently your gamescore increases as you better the lives of the Villagers, this will also drop the prices on Villager Trades should you want to try them out. A TH-cam channel called "Cubey" has plenty of Videos about different things in Minecraft, and his video about the Villagers is about 30 or 40 minutes long.

If you are having trouble on the forge side, multimc makes installing forge and fabric a lot easier.

Also, as soon as you've got Diamond Armor and tools, there will most likely come a time when you'll need to go grab some Netherite, which is about twice as strong as Diamond; you get 10 Full Armor points/Chestplate Icons. You'll need to make a lot of beds since it generates like Diamond, Y level 16 is where you'll normally find it, as Ancient Debris. Put this in the Furnace or Blast Furnace and you'll get Ancient Scrap. Put four of the Ancient scrap with Four Gold Ingots in a crafting table to get a Scrap of Netherite, which you can either put through a Smithing Table (Four wood planks and two Iron Ingots, Ingots on top of the Wood planks) and a piece of Diamond Armor and tools to upgrade it to Netherite *OR* make Netherite Armor and tools in the Crafting Table.
Last thing, please build a House for yourself and give the Village a Makeover if you can. Apparently your gamescore increases as you better the lives of the Villagers, this will also drop the prices on Villager Trades should you want to try them out. A TH-cam channel called "Cubey" has plenty of Videos about different things in Minecraft, and his video about the Villagers is about 30 or 40 minutes long.
I would recommend steam trains too because there basically for starters!
