  • I saw your high activity on the last video about Murder Drones, so here's part 2. Today, we'll discuss the international dubs of the second, third, and fourth episodes of Murder Drones. I watched German, Russian, Turkish, Indonesian, Korean, Ukrainian, Spanish, and other dubs. It contains many exciting things, such as anime references, uncensored swear words, and so on.

When Thad said” What do you mean”, in Turkish, he actually meant “Of course” because in Turkish, the phrase is used in that way. 😊

4:43 “Kankim” doesn't mean “best friend” all the time!
Usually it's equivalent to “bro” or “pal” in English. So a more accurate translation would be “N, (my) bro!”
    Hope this helps!

The problem here is that in the Ukrainian language the word “Люди” has two meanings at once: "people" and "humans". Therefore, it would be a big mistake to translate literally. Besides, I think it would be outrageous to call ourselves the ones who are trying to exterminate your colony

3:55 For Hungarian dubs, it is indeed pretty common to voice scenes with texts written in English. Many Hungarians find it hard to learn foreign languages, and can only understand it at a basic level, mainly due to how vastly different the grammar and pronounciation is to other European languages. A more historical reason would be the elder generations' overall experiences during the communist era.

Translations here in Germany often replace names to sound more familiar to the audience. Few Germans know names like Braidon, but Basti is very common. Same goes with character names that use a word play. We usually always translate names with a German word play to make sure viewers understand the joke.
In large part this because we have a huge English language deficit in Germany due to history. All people over 30 did not grow up with English in schools and most over 60 do not understand the language at all. English was only made compulsory in German schools in 2004, a year after I was born.

The german in the scene where Lizzy waves around Vs arm is actually a play of words. While in English he thanks her, in German N jokingly replies to Lizzys "What do I do with this" with "Lend me a hand?" ("Jemanden die Hand reichen" basically means to give someone a hand to help OR a hand to shake as in a welcome gesture.)
If we ask for help in german we sometimes ask "can you give me a hand?"

I believe that the Ukrainian dub is the best among the other dubs. In addition to the fact that it uses proper Ukrainian (unlike other cartoons that include words from Surzhik), the voices are as similar as possible to the original ones (and sometimes even better than the original. J’s voice in the Ukrainian dub is the best). The idea of Doll speaking in Surzhik is the best for me because it emphasizes that she is trying to speak the same language as the other drones in the colony, but includes words from her native language. If all the voice effects were still used in the dub (for example, there is no voice effect when Khan comes to Uzi for the first time in episode 5), then it would be very cool overall
I consider the Russian dub to be the worst, because the voices don't fit at all, and Doll's English is too bad

Frankly, Uzi says that she wishes this character bad luck, but in a light way. In Ukrainian it looks like this: “Щоб тебе” (the full phrase is likely to look like this: “Щоб тебе чорти вхопили”). tessa is now named 特莎 (te'sha), and this is interesting; the first character means "special", but the second character actually translates to a different english name, which is "sarah", but the character itself looks like the one for "sand" but with the "suffix" of "flower"
khan's last name is finally revealed in this episode, and it's kind of funny: 多门, which literally sounds like doorman (do'men) but actually means "a lot of doors"
braiden is now 布莱登 (bu'lai'den), which is just the translation for braiden. nothing special there.
thad's name is now translated to 萨德 (sa'de), which, funny enough, sounds more like "sad"
thad calls uzi "阿奇 (a'qi)" which is a nickname for uzi, but interestingly enough he calls n "恩老兄 (enlaoxiong)", which means "big brother n"
the solver's projections actually sound completely normal, this is probably because if it was distorted nobody would understand it since tones do matter in chinese
doll does in fact speak russian in the chinese version
absolute solver is... still just the absolute solver. they literally just say it in english. strangely enough, though, solver on its own is spoken in chinese.
when uzi kicks the ninja star and yells "kya", she instead yells "yes it is" in chinese, this is because the projection of thad asked "is that a ninja star", and uzi actually answers him by saying "yes"
the solver doesn't actually sound like a robot but instead sounds like someone trapped inside of a metal box, which i found interesting
    here's some solver lines:
"close one" -> "get out of here, trash"
    "snarl" -> "come play"
"pranked idiot" -> "good job, idiot"
"you big stupid" -> "you wasted your chance"
"lucky for you, it's snack time" -> "good luck, it's time for dessert"
also, when the railgun turns red, there is no alarm blaring in the chinese version
    episode 3 -
khan saying "i'm chaperoning" turns into "i'm going with you" in chinese
instead of saying "noooooo" after hearing that uzi has to go to prom, she just screams. literally.
n says "i'm not letting you go to prom to go on a killing spree" instead of saying "i'm not freeing you for prom murder"
v does not say the word "promise" when asking n and uzi to stop looking into what the murder drones are
doll's name is 朵尔 (duo'er), which kind of means "a flower"
lizzy says "are you joking? she's joking" instead of saying "you're hilarious. she's hilarious"
uzi actually does say "hold it, robot satan, not this mirror" in the chinese version
when uzi hears about lizzy's plan and says "what the f-", uzi instead says "what the" but doesn't get to say the fourth word, which is presumably the word for "hell" since there isn't really a phrase for "what the f*ck"
n does not call himself "dapper n"; instead, he calls himself "handsome bro n"
lizzy does not use the term "prom queen", but instead replaces it with "prom empress"
uzi says "hold it there, you..." instead of "unhand them you fiend...?"
lizzy says "you're way cooler than doll" instead of "you're way hotter than doll"
when lizzy tells v to run, v actually makes a noise that means you're confused in chinese, then promptly gets impaled
the screaming when v has her arms impaled is way more clear in the chinese version, but only the screams
the subtitles for when doll says "anyway you get it" is instead "nevermind, you know everything"
when doll says "i don't need help", the subtitles say "even if you didn't exist, the results would always be the same"
v saying "you traitor" is greatly emphasized, with her saying "you traitor, you should die"
lizzy's name is then finally revealed to be 丽兹 (li'zi), which could mean "with beauty"
instead of saying "shut up loser", lizzy and v both say "shut up idiot"
uzi says "v, we needed to keep her alive!" instead of just saying "we needed her for answers"
the phrase "what? she's fine... a little tuckered out" that v says is now "what? she's not dead, she's just a little tired"
v saying "n you suck" is apparently now "n you asshole", i'm not even joking. however, when n says "v you kinda suck" it's now changed to "v you're disgusting"
uzi saying "lucky for you we're not done yet" is now "you're lucky, thankfully there's still clues"
uzi says "so annoying" instead of "i hate it here"
    episode 4 -
the bus driver says "good baby" instead of "good girl"
after v shoots a kid and everyone is attentive, the english version has subtitles that says "overlapping shouted numbers", but in the chinese version it has the numbers 12 and 17
after v grabs the kid's hand and says "nah just full of love", the chinese version makes a funny pun, saying "nevermind, i'd like to be more full of sunshine" which is funny considering that they burn in sunlight
uzi says "sorry little one, let me fix you up" instead of "sorry buddy got you good"
uzi's laugh is a lot quieter but more sinister
lizzy instead says "you wanna fight?" instead of "clashing?"
v does still say "new body same horrors" but leaves the cyn part absent, and uzi then says "i don't know what you're talking about" instead of "i don't know who that is" since it wouldn't make sense
when the missile lands next to lizzy, she literally just poses and doesn't even groan
when n gets stabbed by uzi, he doesn't even say "ow", he just laughs and says "here we go" and yeets uzi into the sky
after n and uzi land, n says a classical chinese joke/saying: "you can't eat hot tofu when you rush", which is basically telling uzi to take it easy on herself
and that's all, sorry if this is a textwall

    1. Forget it
    2. F it
    3. Nevermind
    4. F off (i guess)
Bodo / bodoh = fool, stupid, idiot, etc

The reason we use different names is a form of recognization in the country, since the name is not popular for most of us to actually recognize in our area (it depends if you realise it) of the country, Germany. Since there are two separate areas of Germany (used to be). And of course there are many different reasons

Mr. Doorchenko in Russian is an extremely smart way to interprete Mr. Doorman. Though, a bit confusing for an average Russian I‘d say since Door in Russian is Dvyer‘. I’d personally say Mr. Dvyerkin or Dvyernik.
Also MnM‘s in Russian would be Emendems thus stretching the line.
It’s not as hard to find a Russian speaking actress in Germany, it’s just considered unnecessary effort for most studios. They do sometimes hire them though, like in the anime „Alya hides her feelings in Russian“, with the actress being a German native with next to no accent in Russian.
Also, I believe, it really isn’t hard to notice how drunk the guy is in Ukrainian dub just by the way his speech is slurred. Though, it might also be him concussed.
