  • John Hardeman Walker was determined to be part of the new state of Missouri and somehow managed to get the borders redrawn to include what is today called the Bootheel. This segment was nominated for a 2022 Emmy Award. #bootheel #missouri #history

My aunt, who is a Poplar Bluff native, told me one of the best jokes I’ve ever heard: “If you cut off the boot heel and gave it to Arkansas, you’ll instantly double the IQ of both states.” 🤪

I grew up in the Southern Missouri Ozarks and I always loved the story of how we got our Bootheel...

I was born in the Bootheel and graduated high school in the Bootheel, but I am a proud Arkansan through and through!

Should have been Arkansas. Missouri. Great farmland from this shady land deal.😬

Dont get me wrong, I am a proud Missourian but we should have remained in Arkansas. If only the Gov't of AR and MO would allow it secession would benefit both states. Missouri could care less about the region.
