Some very cool chords I will be adding to my reptouir. How many bars is this chord progression ? I count 12 which most common but I like to switch up to 8 or 16 bars sometimes. I love the 7th, 9th, dim 7 but my fav chords are maj7th and some others i don't know the names of (forgive me) but I mix all these plus min7th and suspended chords together & play em up and down by the neck and it sounds great like improvising a solo but improvising with chords. Its great if your just noodling around by yourself. If your jamming with others, u definitely want to stick with a chord progression.

In diatonic harmony you can substitute a dominant 7th for the II or VI chord. I not sure about the theory but it is a chord substitution which is used frequently. I have heard it called the 2 6 rule also.

The cool thing about diminished chords is that there’s really only 3 shapes. Shape off the low E, shape off the A and a shape off first 4 strings.

Sixth is minor. What is the theory that makes it okay to play it as a major dominant 7th?
The E7 here is a secondary dominant to the Am7

Dominant harmony has nothing to do with diatonic harmony i believe
