During McKinley’s presidency, tariffs along with a massive increase in the gold supply created inflation which helped because the country was in the middle of a depression and had deflation for decades before that. Also tariffs were needed back then because it was the government’s source of revenue. More often than not though if you actually study US history you’ll see that tariffs hurt the American consumer more than it ever helps industry by creating inflation which people hate as you can see by the result of the 2024 election. Tariffs are definitely not needed now that we are already in a period of highly inflated prices. Ironically the people who used to hate tariffs the most were farmers who voted overwhelmingly for Trump. I think this is because in recent history the US hasn’t had many tariffs as part of the neoliberal consensus so people aren’t aware of what they mean. If Trump really does across the board tariffs which are as high as he is promising, I guarantee you Republicans will lose a lot of support in 2028 even in reliably Republican areas. She only won the debate in the eyes of her supporters, who were the only people she was speaking to in the debate. The debate was her opportunity to speak to independent voters and she declined to do so. The real time meters used by one pollster based upon Republican Independent and Democratic voters illustrated that when Harris was speaking only her base was receptive to her comments, whereas both Republicans and Independents tracked not being receptive. Conversely only the Democrat voters tracked non-receptively when Trump spoke, while both Republicans and Independents tracked receptively. If you only cater to your party base, you'll never win as you must speak to the largest component of the American electorate, which is the independent voters.
And ubsound delusional trump literally said they are eating the cats and dogs at the only debate he had and couldnt answer one question and lets not forget he had a concept of a plan, racism and misogyny was the deciding factor

The reason KH lost the election is that she was a horrible cannidate and the campaign was very badly run. Who thought it was a good idea to get rich millionaire Hollywood actors to endorse her? Like they have nothing to do with the average middle class person. Also KH didn't seem to be able to answer even the most easy softball questions. She would start all her answers by saying how she grew up in a middle class family, she worked at McDonalds, and that she loves america. All the while laughing like the question was funny and never actually answering the question. Is this somebody you want making deals with foreign leaders? And saying that she wouldnt have done anything different than Biden was not a answer anybody wanted to hear.

Carville thinks that if they had a primary it would have given them a better candidate but that candidate still had to defend the indefensible: inflation and the DEMs' open border policies. Those two issues were #1 or #2 in the minds of 59% independent voters. Mother Teresa (RIP) would have lost vs Trump with such atrocious policies.
What is funny James would take a job in Trumps cabinet in a heartbeat if offered . I have known this man for 40 yrs he speaks out of both sides of his mouth,
James the point of tariffs is to penalize countries that tariff our goods which is basically everyone, from China to the neighboring country of Canada. If they would like those tariffs lifted then they need only to lift the ones they have against us.
Carville is just so out of touch with reality, just about like that guy that predicted harris would win based on his 13 keys. Both him and Carville allowed their demoncrap bias to affect their ability to come to a rational conclusion.
James Carville has been "celebrity bartender" at Molly's On The Market on Decatur Street in New Orleans. He mixed drinks, pulled beers, and cracked wise for a very packed house of locals and tourists. I hate his politics, but he's a fine fellow.
He’s right about the first part. The Democrats sound like Marie Antoinette arguing about decorum while the revolution rolls them. He’s just too embedded in the establishment to understand the revolution part.
Note the priority - he's not in the slightest concerned that the country might have a leader mentally unfit for the job, only about whether his side keeps winning. This is consistent with e ery Democrat opinion I've seen regardless of how they view Biden's mental state
I think Carville is spot on. In 1992 Clinton said that he felt our pain. In 2024 Biden/Harris said that we are imagining our pain. Trump won convincingly, but not in a landslide. Yes, he won the popular vote, but he did not win a majority of the popular vote. If Trump was half as likeable as Reagan Trump would have won in a landslide.
Is anybody else watching his head sway back-and-forth. His eyes wandering all over. He doesn’t even believe himself. Interviewing Carville, no one‘s learned yet. Conversely only the Democrat voters tracked non-receptively when Trump spoke, while both Republicans and Independents tracked receptively. If you only cater to your party base, you'll never win as you must speak to the largest component of the American electorate, which is the independent voters.
They think they won the debate because Democrat journalists and Leftist pundits told them so. They never talk to normal people.
And ubsound delusional trump literally said they are eating the cats and dogs at the only debate he had and couldnt answer one question and lets not forget he had a concept of a plan, racism and misogyny was the deciding factor
Carvel is as deluded as the rest of his party. If Comme Kammy had had more time as the nominee she would have lost by a larger margin. She was inept and incompetent.
Last month James told us Trumps MSG rally was mimicking a N@zi rally.
He has lost all credibility with this absurd comparison.
James can pound sand.
Oh please he called literally everything wrong. Just retire James.
Clinton only received 43% of the vote in '92, proving Carville was never an intelligent strategist.
She did push that she was the "change" candidate, but Americans were sick of the Democratic Party lies.
She was the "change" candidate who stated that she would not have done anything differently than Biden. 😆
You can't rub the stench of the rotting dem party.
Well DIMs have said they got the message wrong from 2000, ,2004, 2010, 2016.
Watching the videos of Democrat talking heads trying to figure out why they lost is the most fun I have had watching disaster coverage since the videos about the end of Game of Thrones.
I've always been a conservative, therefore not incline to pay his rantings much heed. He didn't even follow his own advice about the economy this past election, so why would I (or anyone else, for that matter) be inclined to consider his judgment at this point? Hating on Trump while admitting that he bested them with far fewer resources is just classic Dem thinking; guess the orange man is still bad...
He didn't exactly "blast Democrats" as the title suggests. I don't think he really understands how unlikable Harris and Waltz are. Of course, he is right about NPR language. There is nothing weirder about announcing your pronouns when when meeting someone....
And nobody wants to hand Walz a potentialy unearned presidency! From the cornfield to the Oval Office in one leap and no votes - no way!
So Ukraine has borders but the US doesn't...!? Lie about increasing wages whilst making that an impossibility due to an abundance of cheap labour... Just endless lies.
Is this guy literally drooling out of the right side of his mouth?
Yes. Tobacco juice.
I am not a Carville fan, but I appreciate the Hill bringing in a wide range of political perspectives.
"Came as close as we did". The man is delusional, they got wrecked!
Why should we believe him when he said he was certain Kamala was going to win?
BeCause he thought they still had the 2020 vote manufacturing operation up and running...but they fell 15 million short.....
He thought they could cheat again.
Who listen to these TDS liars anymore 😂
No one cares about what he thinks
The language is idiotic because the thinking behind it is idiotic. It goes deep.
Anyone who lists a "feeling" as a reason his candidate would win, should not part of diagnosing what went wrong.
Right James yall had more everything democrats just forgot 1 thing they needed “THE PEOPLE” that what democrats & celebrities forgot 🤷🏽♂️
Id like to know why he thought she was a good candidate.
She-It had the Right Diversity Quotient.
I love his pained look before starting to once again face just how wrong he was. Must be tough being so blind to reality while ragin' about sensibility.
This guy does realize that whenever they raise corporate taxes the corporation is just raised the prices right?
He is still clueless about why they lost on main street. Hopefully, they stay as clueless and out of touch as they have been and they continue to loose.
I would love to his Wife's opinion. Kamala changed all her postions! How much more change can she give? Leadership and vision was sorely missing
You lost and your team is still drinking woke coffee.
He's saying woke is bad
@@billywilson1368 You're both right. He said it's bad and the dems are still drinking that coffee.
He as an expert just had the light bulb come on? Lol!!
Amber went easy on him, bless.
Dear Elon and Vivek,
Please remove all funding for NPR. My tax dollars should not be spent on democrat propaganda.
She won the debate? No, no she did not
Carville thinks that if they had a primary it would have given them a better candidate but that candidate still had to defend the indefensible: inflation and the DEMs' open border policies. Those two issues were #1 or #2 in the minds of 59% independent voters. Mother Teresa (RIP) would have lost vs Trump with such atrocious policies.
It's a long road for the DEMs to improve the economy, first they have to understand the meaning of the word economics, that will be a long time.
2.5 billion and 20 million in debt.
Oh my, well God bless his little cotton socks. Little Jimmy is living in a world of his own. Best to leave him there
No democratic process in choosing the candidate, endless war, “this is fine” with an economy the workers struggle in, etc.
The more I listen to Carville the more I realize that he is indeed a demoncrat and beyond all hope!
To BE a democracy, you have to DO democracy.
Hey Carville, why didn't you say this BEFORE the election? Did YOU forget it was ALWAYS the economy.
Maybe Carville will tell us who will win the Super Bowl the day after the Super Bowl.
What is funny James would take a job in Trumps cabinet in a heartbeat if offered . I have known this man for 40 yrs he speaks out of both sides of his mouth,
That is an unexpected guest. Good on y’all for having him on.
This dude has gotten everything wrong for the past decade or so now. Why is anyone asking him anything politics related?
Sadly he's not the only one thinking campaigns are run like it's 1995.
For me it was Liz Cheney!!
James the point of tariffs is to penalize countries that tariff our goods which is basically everyone, from China to the neighboring country of Canada. If they would like those tariffs lifted then they need only to lift the ones they have against us.
💯
George Carnival is a 🤡
Who?
Carnival about sums it up.
Carville is just so out of touch with reality, just about like that guy that predicted harris would win based on his 13 keys. Both him and Carville allowed their demoncrap bias to affect their ability to come to a rational conclusion.
Carvil can’t position a camera properly to save his LIFE. 😂😂😂
😂
James Carville has been "celebrity bartender" at Molly's On The Market on Decatur Street in New Orleans. He mixed drinks, pulled beers, and cracked wise for a very packed house of locals and tourists. I hate his politics, but he's a fine fellow.
7:25 as soon as they came from”spirit animal “ I knew they had really
Lost the plot
Every prediction this clown made prior to the election was wrong yet somehow he still gets out of time
Democrats had more of everything accept love and concern for America and its people.
He’s right about the first part. The Democrats sound like Marie Antoinette arguing about decorum while the revolution rolls them. He’s just too embedded in the establishment to understand the revolution part.
Correction, at 13:45 he does the decorum thing 🤦♂️🤣
What debate did the Democrats win?
He clearly do not understand supply and demand
HAHAHA..."if only Biden had gotten out in 23' we would have won" ..... What a loser.
Note the priority - he's not in the slightest concerned that the country might have a leader mentally unfit for the job, only about whether his side keeps winning. This is consistent with e ery Democrat opinion I've seen regardless of how they view Biden's mental state
After foinbtheough 2 billion....Dems ARENT ALOWED TO TALK ABOUT A
OTHER PARTIES CONTRIBUTIONS POLITICALLY 13:42
Men with balls voted for trump and woman with ballsvoted for kamala - someone. 😂
His delusions of grandeur with Harris deems him unbelievable going forward.
The dems had more of everything except good policy ideas. lol
As long as they blindly refuse to acknowledge they are out of step with normal people they will take a huge step backward in the midterms.
They didn't look in the average swing state polls, but rather focused on outliers. If they had they would realize she was really struggling.
Is anybody else watching his head sway back-and-forth. His eyes wandering all over. He doesn’t even believe himself.
Interviewing Carville, no one‘s learned yet. There’s rarely one reason for anything. Multiple reasons, not the least of which were our children being molested.
Find somebody relevant.
