      We democrats are humbled aplenty. We received the biggest a$$kicking in the history of Presidential politics. No democratic voter is underestimating the level of success Trump and republicans have had electorally. However doesn't mean we forget what transpired on Jan 6, which caused the lives of several people and resulted in the grievous injury of over 100 Capitol Police. There is nothing, however, that Trump can do to increase the purchasing power of the Average American. There is no policy or regulation that will expand the financial flexibility of the average American. It sucks to say but look at how poorly he handled America's covid response. Remember the good old days wwhen he spent his fireside chats suggesting the consumption of household disinfectants and shoving UV lights up our a$$es, I sure as fck remember. But I digress; make no mistake if Trump follows through with his mass immigration plan, this will adversely affect the food supply, which, as you know, causes prices to precipitously rise. Likewise, unilaterally raising tariffs will impact the customer's purchasing power. Which demographic do you think will be most impacted by this...that's right the underprivileged and the working class. You might be familiar with our recent history, but just in case you don't know, what major disaster of biblical proportions did America experiences the last time tariffs were universally raised....oh that's right the Great Depression. You fckers will be the first to face food insecurity. It doesn't matter what voters expected, the fact that they voted for someone who wants to potentially expose America to financial collapse if he successively follows through these disastrous plans is discomforting to someone like me. American know full well what Trump's plans were all along, but voted for it all the same knowing it could potential send our economy into a tailspin is really hard to reckon with internally.

    • @nevermorenovelist
      @nevermorenovelist หลายเดือนก่อน

      What could Seth have possibly said in the face of facts? The fact that Biden stood with unions (and on a picket line, iirc), and Harris ran a decent campaign in such a compacted time frame doesn't take away from any of William's points, including his very apt observation that "[the Democrat] party has gone quinoa and the rest of America's eating at Cracker Barrel". Combine all of that with all the in-fighting and finger-pointing within the Democratic Party post-election, and you basically have a one-party country right now, at least for the moment.
      Finger-pointing isn't going to save the Democratic Party. That the Teamsters would not endorse the Democrats for the first time in decades was one of the major signs that all was not well with the party, and nobody wants to acknowledge that. I forget who said it, but the 2024 election was the Democrat's to lose. Watch Drumpf's reaction during his victory speech: he looked almost surprised that he won. The fact that Biden even ran for a second term initially and then waited _far_ too long to step aside and let Harris take over hurt the Dem's chances immeasurably.
      Most working-class Americans don't give a damn about the stock market. That doesn't help them save money on groceries or at the pump. The Democrats spent too much time talking about how Donald Drumpf is a fascist to people who, by and large, don't truly understand what that even means. And not to beat a dead horse, but how does knowing that Donald Drumpf is a fascist help save the working-class folks money at the check-out line in Krogers? Of all the generations still alive in America today, the only ones with first-hand knowledge and understanding of Adolf Hitler (a known fascist dictator whom Drumpf admires) are currently sleeping off their afternoon pudding in nursing homes. And again, telling people that Donald Drumpf is a fascist dictator-wannabe doesn't help, because Democratic voters already know that and (probably) won't vote for him anyway, and Republican voters don't care and hate those who would talk badly about their hero.
      Perhaps the Democrats should look to former Presidents like the Roosevelts (both Teddy and Franklin D.) if they want to have any sort of chance in the 2028 election, because the message the voters sent is clear: "we'd rather stay home and abstain than vote for a bullshitter."

    Lifelong Democrat here. We have lost our way. We were the voice for the middle class; those who are trying to improve their lives. But we lost them. WE LOST THE MIDDLE CLASS. In our quest to be everything to everyone, make sure everyone with a larynx has a voice, we lost our base. We became the elitist party. And our response to the election - saying everyone who voted for Trump is an idiot - shows that. Until we can recalibrate and get back to our roots (which even Harris tried to do but it was too late), we are sunk. In 20 years, a third party will emerge that will negate the Democrats.

    • @heavensmilesonyou
      @heavensmilesonyou หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very well said. The system makes a 3rd party candidate almost impossible. Look at what happened to Bobby. So long as Dems have money (which I hear is dwindling steadily) and MSM, they will block all 3rd party people at every step. To me, a sign of elitist, non-American foul play. I was an RFK fan, and when I saw what they did to them, it was easy for me to lean into MAGA - at first just to say F You to Obama, Clinton, Soros and whoever else is pulling the stings up there.
      Brian was right on when he said, the party needs to be torn down and rebuilt. it will take a bit, but that's perfect. MAGA needs 10 years to reset this gov't and its purpose so we can have a new baseline to grow from.

      It should be an exercise in who can service the customer better but not a PR/marketing circus focused on the wedding instead of the marriage. Sadly the right in office are more focused on thwarting Dem progress and spin than their own “concept of a plan”. I think we’re saying the same thing, but I’d say Dems “the woke socialist libs and progressives” (being good things that serve the greater good) are better placed policy and values-wise to service the majority of the country instead of the right spinning lies to that majority to get their vote -then delivering a fraction of promises while servicing the 1%. The whole globe is suffering a cost of living crisis and housing crisis. Soaring profits prove wage stagnation and price gouging contribute to the wealth gap. The right won’t legitimately address that cuz their buddies will lose out. Then there’s climate - what use is hoarding all that wealth when society will collapse in on itself as earth becomes uninhabitable. I guess they could build themselves a bubble or occupy Mars lol. Climate refugees will show us all what a genuinely problematic refugee crisis looks like.

Not sure if that’s the same price in-store, but it’s certainly not far from $40, at a store that A LOT of people shop at. Keep in mind, he didn’t say it’s impossible to find it cheaper than that. I think it’s not a stretch to say it might be $40 at a local grocery store or something, which is where many people might understandably shop for paper towels.

      I have to say that I am on an island on the East Coast and granted, we pay a little more for things coming over the bridges than they do on the continent. A loaf of bread here, unless you get the crap chemical laden white bread, is $5 or more. I feel lucky when the semi healthy, whole-grain bread that I buy is 3.50 at Walmart, and I get the last loaf. Because the supermarkets here are ridiculous. I'm supposed to eat sprouted bread, but that's eight dollars a loaf, and I can't drive forty minutes to Trader Joe's and get it for $4 every week. Eggs ate still $4, if I'm lucky.

    Hey comments section: pls stop demanding that every single late night show guest suck the democratic party’s ass the way the hosts do. It’s ok to hear another perspective so long as it’s respectful and intelligent.

      @ I think I’m giving BW credit for being intelligent here as I’ve long recognized him as such. His comments here weren’t incredibly thoughtful.

      I admire you, sir. How you manage to key your comments while rimming Trump is only something contortionists can manage.

      @@jpan7071 jumping to the conclusion that anyone who isn’t tongue punching the democratic fart box is automatically a Trump supporter isn’t a healthy or productive thought pattern. It only indicates your willingness to perpetuate a miserable social divide in the wake of an embarrassing defeat. Remember when nobody liked the Trump gang’s sore loser routine in 2020? Same thing applies here. Nobody likes your bullshit either.

    Seth Myers is so blinded, so elitist, he just can't admit that Williams is 100% spot on.
