First saw Dave on the atheist experience. Super impressed. He consistently cut to the core in a humble, authentic, no nonsense way. If he talks, I listen. Carefully. Inspirational.
@10:10, an observation: Every religion assumes that the only purpose of this life is to prepare to exist in an afterlife, that this one is simply a place where you wipe your shoes before entering the next, as if your time on Earth is just an audition for that afterlife. When death is eternal- this life becomes priceless.
Religions are lies I agree but Someone needs to explain to me why he is saying life is a wonderful thing? We are born even though we did not ask to be. We then have to suffer in a world that is nothing but misery and disease and rape and killing and suffering and on and on only so that one day like him we can die a long slow painful death to then only end up being worm food. So what is so great about that!!??
@@robertpreston2220 that is a fatalistic approach to life. We can choose other ways to face life's challenges and, yes, suffering. As a secular humanist some of us appreciate and even celebrate the great things that people can achieve. We are in a world-wide pandemic and humans have discovered vaccination within a year! Just one example for the great parts of life.
After 35 years in ministry and going through cancer journey , with no relief through prayer and no miraculous healing , I too had to look back and read over what I had excepted for so long and came to the conclusion that it's all a bunch of bunk! I have found that I could commit bad things and there's forgiveness, but declaring my self an Atheist is unforgivable and a dirty word to which all those who said they loved unconditionally , have proven just the opposit. It sure has cleaned out my Facebook page! Hahahaha......I have challenged both god and satan to show themselves, and so far it's a big no show! My heart goes out to Dave and others going through the same thing. Thanx for having him on.
I have great repect and affection for Dave Warnock. I have seen him a few times on the axp. Thanks for helping all of us to realise we got only one life and we should have an adventure.

@@robertpreston2220 That is a matter of perspective. However saying "in a world that is nothing but misery" is plain incorrect. One example to the contrary can prove it wrong. The average living standard for people is increasing over the centuries. Currently its the best time to be alive. Also not everyone is dying slow, dunno what let this on. If I could I would choose to live for aeons. As long as life is worth living for, wich I think it is on average.
Hi Robert. I know life can be hard, and there’s a lot of heartbreak and pain. I just choose to focus on the good part of life, and the joys we can take from it. The good moments as I talk about often. Please reach out to me on my dying out loud page, I would love to connect with you more on this topic.
I see both sides! In one of his stories, Stephen King said life has three levels - good, bad, and terrible. But, life’s a daring adventure or nothing at all! And like I used to joke with a couple of Christian friends about our supposed mission to North Korea (in which I would teach basic first aid for babies and young children, such as oral rehydration solution). I would say, “We have a letter from the Minister of Cultural Affairs. Nothing’s going to happen to us!” But if our worst fears are realized and we do end up in a North Korean Labor Camp . . . We’d teach songs to the inmates and teach first aid. Just maybe I would realize my dream of essentially working as a doctor and, for all intents and purposes, have a line of patients wanting to see me first thing in the morning who really want and need my advice and help. Heck, we even carry extra sand so some of our weaker inmates won’t get punished. The whole thing, weirdly, becomes a peak life experience! 😊 And when we get out, it is wonderful seeing some of our fellow inmates again. Super sincere smiles and hugs, very, very happy to see them! even if we don’t have a whole lot else in common. Maybe! 🏔 🚴🏽♂️ 🏡
I grew up Assembly Of God back in the 1980s, they spoke in tongues and all that jazz.... They preached the Rapture coming soon and scaring every body with that whole bit... I used to have nightmares as a child from those 70s Rapture films called A Thief In The Night series......
I've been a fan of Dave since I joined a podcast community last year where he has been a guest and member. I haven't had the opportunity to see him in person yet so this is very special.
As much as I think social media is the root for many of our social ills, particularly political ills, good thing have come of it too. Namely the examination of religion and finding those that have moved away fro god. I’m a deconverted Xian of over 40 yrs. I had no one. I’ve been ok with it….happy and free! It’s only been recently that I’ve discovered atheism online. I guess I can thank the You Tube algorithm after watching some Hichens and Dawkins vids in directing me to the expansive landscape of skeptical and atheistic YT channels. Thanks for the vid!
I can really relate with Dave in how he felt on all that stuff....... I think it's cool he came out of the Jesus Movement in the early 70s. I liked the religious hippie culture from the early 70s as well as the secular hippie movement of the 60s, Woodstock and all that......
What a touching interview. Thank you. I'm happy that Dave found the truth and the mental/emotional freedom of nonbelief. And I wish him much continued good health and peace.
In March of 1992 I went to a Holy Ghost Bible study as a 16 year old kid. The elderly man leading the group was speaking in tongues and suddenly told us out of the blue that God just spoke to him and told him the Rapture was going to happen in 1993 and the Tribulation was going to start. That obviously didn't happen, I remember 21 months later on New Years Eve 1993 at 17, really starting to doubt what that gentleman said LOL. One of many reasons that made me doubt the faith I was raised with.....
I find it extraordinary that a hundred generations have believed that Jesus is coming ANY MINUTE NOW! The Bible quotes Jesus as saying he would return within the life of the apostles, but christian simply ignore this important failed prophecy.
I just discovered this show via Facebook. Looks like Dave shared it? Anyway, I really like the traditional talk show format and the professionalism of Dan Barker and Annie Laurie Gaylor. I don't mind a few curse words once in a while but sometimes other atheist shows get a bit ridiculous with usage motherf-ers and similar superfluous adjectives that unnecessarily cheapens their important message. Man, I'm sounding old!
The say God loves you unconditionally, but he will send you to hell forever.. I will also make it really hard for you to believe in me, because you cannot see me, and my so called miracles are vague.
Take care of yourself as best and for as long as you possibly can, Dave. You're an awesome human!!!
Thank you!!
Thank you so much for inviting me onto your show!
Dave..tq so much for all u hv been doing..n we all hope u stay healthy n keep on going as long as possible..i do feel the pain u are going thru..
Thanks for being a guest and telling your important story.
Dave is always on point. I see his name and I pause and check him out. No b.s. with the man.

It is not about that hell would be real, but more that there exist people who find comfort in that idea and one should be aware of that.
They can believe that and still leave us alone
WWDD?
