Schwartscoff said that she could not help it if all the most beautiful songs had been written in her native tongue. She was so right. German is a very beautiful language. I wish I could persevere and speak it better.

In seinem launigen TH-cam-Video "Das Verhör mit Julian Prégardien" bekennt er zwar, lieber mit Franz Schubert zu schlafen als mit Robert Schumann zu schwimmen - dem Liedschaffen Schumanns scheint er aber nicht abgeneigt zu sein. Mehr noch: Julian muss diese Lieder wohl sehr lieben, sonst könnte er sie nicht so schön und einfühlsam singen ...

Bloody rushing the whole thing, got a train to catch or what? Even Franz Listz who composed a piano arrangement for this Wildung doesn't rush it, although he adds a thousand notes to it as usual 🙂

I was just complaining on another video how every performance of this lied on TH-cam is stupidly insanely rushed!!! I haven't heard this piece in thirty years, and I remember it being more Andante than Presto! The harmonies and melody demand it to be not rushed, I cannot comprehend where these folks are coming from.
