  • “Love and death are two elemental and universal themes that have inspired masterpieces from poets and composers for centuries,” says young British pianist Martin James Bartlett. His debut album draws on these two dramatic themes with music from Bach, Schumann, Wagner, Liszt, Prokofiev, and more: w.lnk.to/LoveandDeathLY
The Evening Standard described Martin James Bartlett as “clearly destined for great things". Since his 2014 victory in the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition, Martin James Bartlett has built a considerable international reputation. Love and Death, with its imaginatively conceived programme, gives proof of his artistic range.

These days, so many pianists can render the notes, but can they create the feelings behind the music.? This is gentle, beautiful and passionate pianism and I will try to hear him more - a great future awaits.

This is by far my favourite interpretation of this piece I've ever heard! Everything feels so perfectly dramatic and emotional, and with the addition of that tempo/rubato - it's amazing

Bravo! Wonderful playing, adding to the list of other postings of "Widmung" on TH-cam. Great clarity, and control, yet highly emotive in the crescendos. One of my favorite interpretations already!

It is so beautiful to listen to Martin James Bartlett. Few pianists have such musical sensitivity. I am absolutely sure that we will hear a lot more from Mr. Bertlett.

Very beautiful playing and immensely talented. It’s a pity, though, that he didn’t take András Schiff’s hint about trying to sit upright and still: “The music is supposed to move; not you.” Poor posture affects one in later life. If the vertebrae in our necks lose cartilage, this leads to almost unendurable pain in back, shoulders, hands, and makes a mockery of all the hard work over many years.

Oudtshoornify here’s a suggestion! Take that stick out your ass or don’t watch. Why do veiwers feel they have the right to be master performers’ teachers. He likely performs better than you do, so let him reach the emotion which you seem to praise him for in which ever way he wants.
