    I LOVE the colors and the negative space! There was only one teensy tiny thing I would’ve loved to see added to the finished piece.....that transparent turquoise(maybe it was the light green mixing with the ocean blue?)that’s already peeking out along the edge & into your negative space(right where u used the clear to cut into the colors to match what happened naturally during the pour)would’ve looked gorgeous mixed in with the pearl white, or perhaps blown over top of it-if that makes sense?🤷🏼‍♀️I love it though!👍🏻

    Beautiful piece, love your color choices. Maybe a silly question but have to be sure before I do my first resin piece; Do you just use rubbing alcohol for cells or do you mix silicone in too?

    • @MonicaBarnesArt
      @MonicaBarnesArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Marlene Wagner
      Never silicone !!!! It’s a mess in resin you can use oil base base and mica pigment. That should give you cells ❤️😘

    • @amandajones6481
      @amandajones6481 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dear Marlene, you can add both if you want to. If you're really interested in resin and mica or resin and acrylic pour painting, there's a very good book available called: 'Acrylic Pour Painting' by Rick Cheadle. He's a brilliant pour painting artist and he lists all the things you can add to your resin in order to create cells and other interesting effects. For instance, you can add hair spray (just a small squirt) because hair spray has a chemical called dimethicone in it which helps to create cells. Good luck with your resin pour painting. From Amanda in Australia :-)

    I love your videos - they are so informative, and your artwork is stunning. When doing a resin pour (or working with resin in general) is there a minimum thickness for the board you're using? (so it doesn't warp) I have been looking at trying this on MDF or Hardboard... they sell it as 1/8 or 1/4 inch thick. What do you recommend? Thank you! :)

    • @MonicaBarnesArt
      @MonicaBarnesArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mary
      Hi Mary canvas is really hard to work with because Resin is so heavy it tends to sag the canvas in the center and all the Resin goes there
      So no I never use canvas .
      I did when I first started only small pieces though but they never looked good and MDF is something you can get from your local hardware store like Lowes or Home Depot if you go in and ask them they will show you where it’s at and it’s very inexpensive thanks so much I hope this helps ❤️❤️

    Maybe you have answered this before! Just wondered if it matters what sort of resin I used, there are so many sorts. The art resins seem more expensive and just wondered if a floor type resin (which is cheaper ) would work as well. Also can I add just normal water based acrylic paints to the resin rather than buying another lot of paint? I'm trying not to buy more stuff! Thanks Yvonne

    • @MonicaBarnesArt

      Cathy Roelof
      Once the resin dries and you have holes or spots That is usually caused by not using enough resin and no unfortunately you cannot just try to fill it in . You have to do the whole thing I’ve made that mistake so many times when I was just starting out.

      I always use a respirator that’s why I do a voiceover on my videos now The first few months of doing videos like this one , I didn’t wear one now I always do even with art resin because of the mica that I mix in it mostly .. me and my husband did a lot of research it’s not necessarily the Rein that you have to worry about it’s mostly the ink and mica that is mixed in it and heated

    • @intuitiveartandcooking5481

      I’m not exactly sure , but when resin is heated or anything added to it
      it can change The chemical formation of the resin
      So I am not exactly sure about that but just to be on the safe side that’s why I wear a respirator .
