Shinigami who are destroyed by enemies. The number of dead and wounded continues to increase, and the fighting strength of the 13 Court Courts has fallen to less than 30%. Kyōraku, as commander-in-chief, sends orders to the members of the squad to rebuild their posture. On the other hand, Kensai Muguruma, who took the place of the fallen Shuhei Hisagi, Ikkaku Madarame, and Yumichika Ayasegawa and entered the battle with Masculine, was dismayed by the lack of response. Rojuro Otorihashi, who rushed with them, also watched quietly as there was no curtain to come out, but Hisagi, who regained consciousness, desperately warned him.

This is the most egregious example of explaining your powers. He really could have won this fight because Mask would never have figured it out. He was totally confused.

The three Vizards captains getting wrecked so quickly is honestly not a shocker but Kensei did better then Shinji and Rojuro. Shinji can't use his bankai when allies are around. Shinji also talks too much but since Shinji's shika inverts everything including his words, that adds mental pressure to the enemy to try and understand what he is say, but Shinji just drops his guard too quickly.
Rojuro was basically talking to the audience but if he never explained that his Bankai was sound base, he would have honestly won against Mask since he was panicking about the illusions.

It's a crime that neither of them used their Hollowfication. Not only is it a raw power up but especially because hollows are poison to quincy. I'm cool with Kensei and Rose still losing but at least make them lose at full power

Fun fact, that was the last time we ever saw Mashiro in the manga and Hisagi never used his bankai in the whole final arc.
And Harribel is just trapped in Yhwach’s dungeon forever.
There will be a lot of Kubo forgot moments.
Then 4 years after the manga ended he remembered and wrote a light novel about Hisagi using his bankai.
Then wrote a data book explaining that they freed Harribel off screen and her and Nelliel became dual rulers of Hueco Mundo. And; Mashiro was protecting Squad 4 barracks off screen.
Can only hope the anime can fix Kubo forgot moments but it doesn’t look hopeful.

@@stampoulisrafael5262 They were clearly losing. Byakuya had accomplished nothing; Kenpachi was torn to shreds and incapacitated; and Toshiro as clearly not acheiveing anything anymore too. They were 100% saved by the Holy Selection.
Not that Kensei is weak, as it’s shown that Immediately James cheered Mask, his punch was immediately able to ‘physically’ affect or push both Kensei & Rose. And even after that, James still cheered. The major problem for Kensei here as is presented: is the fact that his bankai relies on physicality or hand-to-hand combat as opposed to that of Rose which relies on sound (not physical strength)… In this case it’s just a bad match up for Kensei. On the other hand, Rose explained too much.

Guess not. Man this was one of the most annoying fights of the final arc in the manga to me. Two captains with top tier powers and bankai turned into fodder so Renji could win.

They did, Shinji used his Bankai on several Soldat, who are at least Lieutenant level, not a Sternritter but still a pretty cool addition and a Vizard victory

Vollstandig is a bigger buff than Letzt Stil and Letzt stil is a bigger buff than Bankai to the point where Shikai Mayuri was stronger than Uryu but Letzt Stil Uryu one shotted Mayuri’s Bankai
In the Manga, Mask’s buff form is stronger than his Star Murder Punch, and his Star Murder Punch is 10x his normal output
So Vollstandig Mask >>> Buff Mask > Star Murder Punch 10x > Regular Mask > Bankai Kensei and Rose
Visored Kensei and Rose would at best be weaker than Vollstandig Mask and at worst weaker than Buff Mask

Destroy your eardrums or be killed. It's pretty obvious what the better outcome is. And this is Bleach, characters receive lethal wounds and recover in a few hours.
In a world like bleach where healing can reattach entire freaking limbs rupturing your ear drums is not out of the question in the slightest. It's actually a very viable strategy hear since the Quincy have the hime field advantage.

He lost because James boosted Mask so much so That he fired a Star light so fast and powerful that Rose wasn't able to dodge or counter

What's worse is that Kensei's Bankai was completely destroyed, so it won't be as strong as it used to be (though this Bankai has never known victory).

Given how in all the fillers the villains had ways to depower the soul reapers except for Ichigo because he had hollow powers, the head captain really should have allowed for the vizards to use their hollow powers under certain circumstances. I get he didn't approve of hollow powers but its pays to have a little insurance in your back pocket in case someone manages to take your secret weapon away. Kensei might've stood a better chance by vaporizing Mask with a cero. Don't know about Rose though. Dude sold by blabbing about his Bankai's power and totally deserved that L.

I think it is unfair to call him dumb, Mask gained the upper hand because he caught Rose off guard, and knew there was a solution afterwards.
Rose didn't really say any weakness, he said he controlled music and even the covering of ears wouldn't do anything.
So calling him dumb is too much, we had several captains explaining and characters explaining their abilities, and if they didn't do it we would still have far more "unohana bankai" cases which would frustrate fans. An inner monologue to explain your own ability would come off as strange, and it is simply not Kubos writing style.

For those who ask why didn't they use their masks, I think it's quite simple. We've seen them use the masks with Shikai, but when Kensei faced WW, he didn't. If they can only use the mask for 3 minutes, more or less, they may not be able to use masks during Bankais at all. Ichigo did it because his shinigami and hollow powers are one and the same, while the Vizards don't have merged powers, that's why they also received Urahara's medicine, because their Bankais could also be stolen.

I don't really agree with these entire Rose hate, he didn't really say any weaknesses, he only gave some info about his bankai, because it is a Bankai which we have never seen, something that every captain has done.
Rose and Kensei were bound to loose because they didn't have the necessary information that was needed to defeat these villains, Rose didn't expect Mask to bust his ears drums and didn't expect an attack following up afterwards.
He might not have expected it but as they have mastered their bankai they should have really thought about it weaknesses especially that it's glaring weakness is blocking sound and not to mention these Quincies are completely dedicated to the cause meaning they would do anything to get that goal

Technically Kensei killed the first time the Stern the Mask but it was absolutely necessary to show Renji's power so he resurrects and slaughters the captain as if he was nothing...
