Hi Paul, Goshen, NY here recently retired marine here taking up watercolor painting to relax it was going awfully until I started watching your lessons. Thank you for your great instruction it helped tremendously.
Hi Paul, just finished having a go at painting the blue door with the guidance of your video and book, haven't painted since I was at school (50+ years ago) really pleased with my effort. Now going to continue painting, and look forward to retirement in a few months so I will have more time. Thanks Paul for your inspiration. Andy.
After not having done any art in over 40 years, I have dared to believe that I can learn watercolor painting. I followed your video and am shocked by the outcome. Your engaging style and obvious desire for us to learn and grow makes all the difference. Now I am going to "binge watch" all of your videos and continue this journey! Thank you so very much!!! P.S. I also have your book - it is a must have for anyone new to watercolors. It's perfect!
Apart from the fact the painting is absolutely beautiful, for some reason I found this particular music selection to be quite emotionally evocative. Thank you for that gift.
Nearly finished it in Wellington NZ. The green and the gray didn't go so smoothly but the blue door fixes everything! Happy vibrant blue door. Thanks Paul!
Thank you Paul!! I tried this one and learned a lot! I am going to try it again tomorrow. I have a habit of over working things. Thank you for suggesting that I try this one!
Thank you so much...your video is so much more effective in being an actual tutorial all in the perfect amount of time. So many videos go on far too long without the plain explanation of tools and techniques used, colour mixing and useful tips all with a tiny bit of humour to keep us engaged. Buying your book today!
Thank You for posting this video and the others. I have been doing small tutorials because I am afraid to take on a bigger project. With this one I used a full size paper instead cutting it smaller and I'll am pleased at how it turned out. I know to most this is a small project, but to me it is a big step doing any work on a full sheet of paper. Thank You again for giving me the courage to give it a try
Love your tutorials, and you're so fun to watch! I find I do my best work when I'm not rushed. I go to classes and the stuff I produce is rubbish. Then I go home and re-do and the results are so much better! However, I am 82 years old. Took my first water-colour class just after I retired at 60 years of age. Then after a long absence from painting, started taking classes again one year ago. I enjoy it more and more eery day.
Update: i tried that (I'm a true beginner, I started yesterday!) and I'm very satisfied with the result. I added some outlines with a uniposca because otherwise it looked like crap 😀
So much fun! I painted it twice-once was a line and wash. Loved the look of both. Plan to give as Valentines Cards. Thanks for your wonderful tutorials.
Yes, it was great to find THIS video on YT, Mr. Clark. Your book reminds me of A. Lincoln's quote: “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the ax". So, I'm currently 'sharpening my ax' and enjoying a lot of the process doing every task !! 💖
I attempted to paint this with your instructions...and Aaaha, I couldn't believe I could paint so well....All credit is yours, thanks a ton!! Few more valuable lessons I got..., about mixing colors and right sequence of using colors...I would have painted the red flowers last... had I not followed the instructions...!! I am eager to do the next :-) wish I could share my version with you...
I love this one, well I love them all really. But I've always been drawn to doorways and their immediate surroundings. Just something comforting about them. Thank you for another wonderful painting.
@@ArtbyPaulClark EXACTLY! Sort of like driving somewhere, but you see this side road that just makes you want to drive down it,to see where it takes you. With a canapy of trees hanging over the road on each side, creating this shady area, quite irresistible.
Hi Paul, I’m brand new to watercolors and truly enjoying the frustrations 😂😂 that I hear are Inevitable on this colorful journey. I saw you tutorial of the blue door and loved it..saw more of your classes and paintings, so I purchased your book tonight ..I don’t know my style of painting yet, though I be believe I would like to Learn from you. Thank you for sharing your talent and your easy “speak” make it so comfortable to listen to and also to read. Maybe someday I’ll be able to attend your classes, but for now I’m grateful for you tube and your book..!
Had fun doing this!!! Perspective is challenging for me. I'm not an artist but have fun with watercolor and keep learning about perspective by doing and watching.
Another brilliant tutorial Paul. Thank you so much. You are always so positive and encouraging, making me believe I can achieve results like yours. Love the shirt. Very appropriate.
Thank you so much for the tutorials! I’m not a painter or anything, I just like to play with watercolors, so you help me a lot by showing us what to do to achieve such a beautiful portrait 💕
Loved painting this. Love France. Bittersweet memories of french holidays 😍. Sunflowers and vineyards would be lovely subjects for paintings x🍷. Good choice of wine too Paul 😍🍷👍
you are so sorted in your head and a good human being..your goodness reflects in your face.. thanks for sharing.. you make painting look so easy..love from INDIA
loved this one, too, Paul, AGAIN.... especially your humor about your shirt. I need that, the humor, as I'm "trying too hard" with this watercolor learning process. I equate it to golf... ten rounds lousy, ONE good, and it keeps you going! Just like watercolor: ten paintings to throw away, one good one to keep :) Thank you for continuing to teach us!
I have just found your amazing TH-cam channel. Thank you so much for sharing these guided drawings. I have a long way to go, but it is an inspiration and I'm looking forward to watching all your videos one by one and applying accordingly. My country is going through a horrible and terrifying war and drawing is a food for the soul for me.
I just painted this. I haven't been painting for too long, but I was able to follow your step-by-step guide. I learned a lot, and I'm fairly happy with my results. Thanks so much for the detailed video and making the template available. This is the first tutorial of yours that I've done -- but it won't be the last! Vivian.
That's a happy little shirt (said in my best Bob Ross, voice.) I love paintings of doorways and old windows with those cascading flower boxes. Beautiful, Paul. 🎨
Several times you mentioned less is more in your tutorials...so true, I now understand....as a perfectionist, or so I've been called, I often over do things...since watching your tutorials, I've decided to slow down a bit...maybe, ease back a little...my wife says your right Paul... once again....nice video of instruction here. Thank you... P.S. my wife threw a cauliflower at me while I was watching this LOL. . I told her, "Wrong video love"...that was earlier...
Lol!!! Great stuff Mike as always and thanks for great comment - If, at least I've inspired others to throw cauliflowers around then I feel my job is done!!!
Glad to hear you'll continue the videos! I view but not yet a painter, though I did a pencil sketch of this before I watched! Thank you for bringing your humor along with great info on how to start painting!
Love your shirt!!! You make everything look so easy but it's so hard for me lol!! Ive bought 2 A5 pads to practice on. I just love watercolour but it find it the hardest to work with, but I will carry on and persevere!!! Thank you so much for sharing with us as you do, so very generous!!
I also have your book and painted this one in my sketch book when I was very new to watercolor and was pleased with the result. I have logged many brush miles since then so I think it will be fun to try again. Painting from the book was a great experience as a very new painter, but now it's fun to watch you and all the extra little 'Paul' touches. Great shirt this week. So glad you started your channel. It has so much great content. Thanks Paul.
Thank you for posting your 'Blue Door" 'tutorial that I mentioned to you just a week or so ago, Paul! What can I say---I have a thing for blue doors and windows. I have your watercolor book in my Amazon cart. Thanks for providing the door template, as well! Love your work....

You have great talent and teaching skills.Like the videos. What's the best paint and paper to use ?
@@justpeaceful6899 Arches has good paper. 300 gr /140 lb cold pressed. Daniel Smith paint or Winsor & Newton have good colours.

Lovely painting! You make it look so easy with your quick loose brush strokes.
