- Circuit Tracks jam with an Arturia Drum brute to back it up! aka Compact Creations. Wow it's been awhile since i've done a simple small dawless setup. I wanted to feed 2 birds with 1 seed using Circuit Tracks to give me 2 synths. But then i went and ruined it by using the Drumbrute as all my drums haha! This was a fun jam and should I start doing these more often?

Just finished a full Twin Peaks rewatch and got a big smile on my face when you played Laura's Theme 😁
I know this was made several years ago now, but this is a nugget of gold. I have a good size complicated music making setup and sometimes end up with option paralysis or only learning to use gear in limited ways, rather than learning to understand instruments capability on a deeper level. I just purchased a Circuit tracks and the Drumbrute Impact to setup a separate mini set-up to break up the redundancy of my usual approach to music making. I especially loved that you use the drum track on the tracks to use as a sidechain even though the volume was at zero. This level of understanding the instruments in front of you allows to be creative in how you accomplish a musical idea. Great stuff as always, I love the content on this channel!
Small setups like this with no pressure is the biggest tip for anyone wanting to get into this. Don't worry about tons and tons of gear or software. Grab some drums, and a couple synth voices and just have FUN. Get lost in it.
But but but how can I overcompensate for my shortcomings with such a small setup?

This! The best stuff comes from what I know best. If I’m in the DAW I always reach for a synth plugin and it’s not familiar and I just end up using a preset which changes the direction of my original idea. Limitations breed creativity - everyone knows that there are two camps. I fell into the less is more camp a long time ago.

I can't believe I didn't realize where that came from. Now I am a bit ashamed. David Lynch is an all time favorite.
I have used the Mulhollad Drive main theme in my DJ set up a few times .. It works very well layered with most kinds if techno drums.

The drumbrute was my first drum machine! Followed by the og circuit as my first groovebox! Great pieces! I’d love get my hands on the new circuit 🙌🏻

Was in a record shop (Release the Groove in SoHo, London) in the late 90s and it was being played and some guy came off the street and shouted “Go” right in time with the music. For me though it’s Twin Peaks first then Moby.
Honestly, I just naturally slip into that theme so often that it took me awhile to figure out what it originally was.
