    Great helpful tip. Thanks Lee.
Timely as was trying to setup a new gps with integrated compass on my Flywoo Explorer this last weekend, and like you was confused. Can confirm this works. 😃👍
Originally was setting the offset as -10º, as compass(and integrated gps) is mounted at tilt -20º in pitch. Was thinking better to use "average angle" between when quad would be level (in hover) and assuming 20º pitch forward in normal flight.
However, after watching this it sounds like the offset is the difference between the FC (INAV) orientation and the GPS/compass orientation. So compass alignment should be set at -20º.

Tip: If you cannot figure this out, especially on a board with atypical magnetometer placement (with no directional markings), use XYZ mode in INAV magnetometer tab (new thing) and look up datasheet for that magnetometer (note the dot in a corner). Write down that orientation with XYZ arrows on a paper and match it with your magnetometer (rotate the paper) and then match it again in INAV. Next do the compass calibration and it should be working.

Excellent discussion as it was not intuitive at first. Thinking of the perspective of the compass chip orientation, it makes sense that the roll is -20 degrees for this drone model. Seriously considering getting the Rekon 7 LR with DJI air unit and using INAV

I have attached an HMC5883 compass to my SpeedyBee F405 v3 flight controller, which is running the INAV7 firmware. The firmware successfully detected the compass. I calibrated the compass using the INAV7 configurator, simply by selecting the "calibrate compass" option and keeping the drone steady. However, I've noticed an issue: when I rotate the drone and observe the drone's depiction on the setup tab in INAV7, the image also rotates, but it does so at a significantly slower pace. It also takes a considerable amount of time to match the actual drone's changed heading. What could possibly be the issue here?

Is it just that the accelerometer in your FC was mounted at 90 degree about yaw and so the pitch axis became the roll axis? Also would be great to know if you set the mag align to 180 deg flip, does the direction of yaw become inverted (i.e. does a positive 20 deg yaw increment relative to the FC now become a negative 20 adjustment in the cli since, because the mag has been flipped about pitch, the positive direction of yaw relative to the mag is now negative)
