    What a beautiful specimen!
    I have propagated in water also and agree it takes a very long time. I switched to propagating in perlite and love it! I haven’t had a failure yet since mailing the switch.

    One tip for fast successful propagation on any vine is to get cuttings about 10 inches, remove half of the leaves and put it in a vase on a window. The bigger the cuttings, the more success you have. And do it when the day is long. Once you have about an inch of roots(in about 3 weeks if you do it in summer) you should put them in growing medium. Spagnum moss is good. Once the roots become big you can take the entire thing and pot it whenever you want. If done correctly this metod gives you the best success. I tried small cutings in the past and they take forever with a lot of death. Big cuttings are best and over time you'll get more plants if that's the goal. Cutting should include at least 4 sections. 2 sections with leafs above water and 2 or three under water. The more leafs the better. Some cuttings my put out roots only on the bottom section but that's fine. You can arange the cuttings in a pot in such ways the baren part don't show up.

    I really didn’t think I was underwatering mine but according to this with the lower leaves dying off all the time 🤷‍♀️ maybe I need to give it a sink soak once in a while

    I think I’m going to make a propagation box for the cuttings you gave me and then I want to trim my golden pothos and stick them in there too.

    Liked as soon as I saw the cat. Lol Glad it was followed up with great content. Just got a mican today, it had a sticker that said it was a euphorbia. 🤷🏽‍♂️ Very pretty plant.

    I have two micans and both are small, one of them is living in high humidity literally next to a humidifier and gets ample indirect light and that thing is struggling, all the leaves get stuck and are coming out all ugly and tiny. I’m going to try fertilizing it and moving it low light. Maybe it wants to live the hard life and struggle lol

    • @GenesisFletcher
      @GenesisFletcher  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have mine all over so it really depends on the specific plant, but low light doesn’t hurt! They don’t need high humidity either :) I find that if you leave it alone, it does better! And definitely try fertilizer!

    I just bought this plant at my local H-E-B grocery store. She is full and thriving and I could not leave her. I am new to plants in general, but I have currently obsessed over her. It’s been three days since I bought her and I have not watered her because her soil is wet. Should I wait to repot her until she’s dry or give her a few weeks before doing that’😢 love this video

    I don't do perlite anymore. It's waste. For philodendrons I use bark of any kind and a little bit of Miracle-Gro, just enoug to fill up the gaps between the bark because otherwise bark gets really dry when it get dry and a little bit of peat moss and soil can retain some moisture. If you don't want to mix peat moss and soil you can just use Miracle-Gro mix. If you want to get more fancy you can add worm castings or slow release fertilizer. I use regular synthetic fertilizer lately. 2 or 3 teaspoons per gallon is more than enough. Sometimes I get lazy and don't fertilize every time. It takes me forever to water everything. About 2 hours every other week. And for the hanging baskets I have to water as needed. I'd say I need to spend 4 to six hours a month taking care of plants. I am not really a collector. I don't have too many rare plants. Most are not the easiest to find but not really rare. Anyway.

    My Micans are growing many long-ish aeriel roots. My instincts are telling me it’s a sign I should spray it and that it’s seeking more humidity, but I’m a little worried to do so because of the velvety leaves.

    I used Fluval stratum to propagate this plant. This plant is honestly beautiful but extremely fickle.

      I too have started my first P. Mican's using Fluval in clear plastic lidded tote bens with amazing results. I had 6 node cuttings I ordered from ebay and all were rooted well enough to be potted up within three weeks. I am loving the Fluval and I have been proping all my plants this spring.

    • @tranquilitywithdd
      @tranquilitywithdd ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@allenpost3616 I have propped with Fluval and PON. Both have worked nicely but you have to keep that Fluval sopping wet. Actually a bit above the Fluval line.

    Mine is in a south facing window with a lot of light and has trails that are about four feet long. I thought they liked that much like so it’s always been there 😂 Maybe she’s just a thriving survivor

    I have a small, but established pot but the issue I keep having is the leaves are so small, regardless of light/water conditions and feedings 😔 thoughts?

    Love it!! Any cuttings from that new addition? Asking for a friend ☺️🥲 and by the way, Can you unfurl leafs with a damp cloth?

    • @GenesisFletcher
      @GenesisFletcher  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha maybe later! & a cloth is too rough for new leaves! So always q-tip :)

    I had to move my mican from my east facing window. The leaves didnt seem happy. The dreaded leaf droppings. Moved about 5 feet back and its thriving.

    Hello...It seems that no matter what I do, the leaves on my Micans keep growing in very small. I really would love several Micans around my home, but I first need to figure out what I am not doing right. I have moved it to differing locations, but I am trying the same result. I also fertilize it during the spring and summer months with Captain Jack's fertilizer. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance!🙂🌴

  • @lavvy2585

    The roots are so tiny, I would be scared to prop in moss. I used home made pon, and they did pretty ok, but I had to use a rooting hormone. Micans are so fickle.

    Hi. This video is good but may I suggest, if you’re going to talk all thru the video you should show more pics and examples of what you’re talking about. It will keep the viewer’s attention more and relate real life examples to your narrative. Thanks for listening.
