  • In a recent Famitsu interview with the producer of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Eiji Aonuma and Hidemaro Fujibayashi, the game's director. They were asked where Tears of the Kingdom fit in the Zelda Timeline. And thanks to their answer, we now know exactly where and how. So in this video I break down Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom's events and other mysteries regarding the Zelda Timeline. Along with the new importance of the Sheikah and introduction of the Zonai.

Theory for the Zonai hybrid: Either Raaru and Mineru were the last to "descend" and then this is a new child hybrid or a new "descender".

People forgetting that it's been established that there is a literal Goddess of Time in the Zelda universe that can influence time itself, re: SS, OoT, MM. Hylia would be very capable of merging the three timelines into a new, unified one, and influencing the flow of time to ensure that the future happened as it should, re: the Rito and Zora existing at the same time in the unified timeline. I could argue that it was Hylia who pulled Zelda back into the past; I really don't believe that Zelda consciously went back in time once she got the Secret Stone, or, if her merely obtaining the Secret Stone was what "woke up" her time powers and enabled her to travel through time, and she unconsciously did so in a panic ("I'm falling to my death, I need to be somewhere else"), I think Hylia must've been influencing it in some way because IMO it is VERY unlikely that Zelda purposefully went back in time to the EXACT POINT where she needed to be
re: "so their new king and queen had no clue Ganondorf was ever a threat"
Rauru straight-up says in the A Show of Fealty memory that he's "well aware of [Ganondorf's] evil nature", and wants him as an "ally" only so he can keep an eye on him. Also Sonia says in the game that she and Zelda share a blood connection, meaning that there was definitely a Sonia/Rauru kid that we just never saw on-screen, probably being hidden from Ganondorf and his forces. Given that Ganondorf only acknowledges Rauru and Mineru as being the only remaining Zonai in the A Show of Fealty memory, that still leaves the possibility that this child *did* appear as a Zonai that Ganondorf just didn't know about, and so he *could have been* the Ancient Hero depicted on the tapestry as having been the one who defeated the original Calamity of 10,000 years ago. The Zonai genes were probably just diluted and eventually bred out of existence over time, up until BotW

This new era is fine, I just hope they do touch on older titles in the future.
imagine a spirit tracks sequel where some treasure hunter salvaged Ganondorfs stone statue corpse from the great sea, the story could start like King Arthur pulling the sword out of the stone, though this time it’s the master sword out of Ganondorfs ol’ noggin.
That in turn could cause the seal to break and a toonified version of mummy-dorf could be the antagonist, and link would have to reverse the mistake of pulling the sword out

i think everyone is wrong about this being the same ganondorf as oot and that era of games.
reason being, he doesnt bat an eye at the name link when rauru tells him during the sealing process that link will come to finish him with the sword that seals the darkness. presumably, if it was the same ganondorf, we'd see a reaction of familiarity out of him seeing as he would've faced a version of link along with the master sword atleast 3 times, being during OOT, twighlight princess, and wind waker, phantom hourglass, adventures of link, ect.
each timeline has a reincarnation of ganondorf that has lived through several hero attempts to permanently seal him/destroy him.
somehow, one of these links at the end of the mythic timeline events actually did it, and triggered yet another ganondorf reincarnation being born. whether its the one we see during TOTK, or the one(s) that preceded him.

In the memory, "A Show of Fealty", Rauru and Sonia are well aware of Ganondorf's evil nature. King Rauru comments that it was for that very reason that they wanted to feign interest and keep a closer eye on him. The king of Hyrule in Ocarina of Time blindly believed that Ganondorf was true and good, and didn't believe his daughter's dreams were an omen of evil.

"Our first great king sealed the Demon King deep below this land. In effort to safeguard this seal, we have built this castle as the cornerstone to protect this sacred site. If the castle should ever fall, then this sacred site could be lost, and over time, the hatred and malice of the Demon King could revive and be unleashed upon this world. Thus, the continual presence of this castle is tied to the kingdom's prosperity, and we wish for its eternal peace."

A thing he gets wrong in this video is that the Goddess Hylia "reincarnates" into all Zeldas post Skyward Sword. That is false. All Zelda post Hylia reincarnated Skyward Sword Zelda are bloodline descendants. The only beings that reincarnates are Link and Ganondorf. The whole "Spirit of the Hero" thing is just Nintendo's way of saying the Hero Soul is the same even if the body isn't.

@@Sarah_H You do know that Twilight Princess is a non canon story event of the Timeline right? Heck only the Downfall Timeline is the canon timeline. Why you may ask? Easy, it is the timeline that the first game of the series exists in. Same way "Kingdom Hearts 1" is the canon game of it's timeline. The Hero of Time was never meant to be successful in the first place. He was meant to die at the hands of Ganondorf in his Castle. I know it is a tough pill to swallow because to me my favorite Zelda game of all time before BotW was Majora's Mask but unlike the Child and Adult Timelines the Downfall Timeline's Triforce is fully in the possession of the Royal Family of Hyrule. Nintendo knows this which is why most of all the newest entries to the Zelda games take place in the Downfall Timeline because that is the timeline in which stuff can actually happen.

What if breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom takes place in the timeline that the original link defeated demise and that’s why we don’t see the triforce, and why we have the zonai, they are the people that hylia sent to the sky and evolved the triforce was never found because the first hero never had to find it because Demise was never really and obstacle so they made the zonai stones then over time since they forgot where the clues to the triforce it is forgotten and the first goddess statue casually fell to the ground overtime that’s why the temple is forgotten it was never really needed in that time line other than to house the master sword and the gate of time but since the one who used it had gone back to his time whole new time shenanigans because doesn’t the first link leave his sword in the past and in this time line there would be three because it can’t just pops back in to the correct time line unless it can then time would be meaning less to the blade but what I am meaning is that we should have the goddess sword in this time along with a master sword from the first link the blade that tears link uses on ganondwarf in this timeline so in this time line all the games took place but in different order than they were supposed to and why the master sword so easily breaks the blades power is being split by three but it’s just a theory

Yeah but think about it like this: Why were the Shieka who were there for the ROYAL family of Hyrule since it's original inception(post Skyward Sword) not be there to protect Queen Sonia? A lot of people tend to forget that in Zelda 2 The Adventure of Link, there were TWO count them TWO Princess Zeldas existing at the same time. The one who is the actual inheritor of the Goddess Hylias bloodline and the descendant of that Zelda's brother.
We do know that when it comes to inheritance of a Goddess' powers/bloodline it all is firstly given to the first born DAUGHTER. That is why the Kings of Hyrule(those that are named anyways) always have different paternal names followed by the Hyrule second last name. It means that they are married into Royalty rather than being BORN Royalty like the Prince from Zelda 2's backstory.
While Sonia says that Zelda and her share a blood connection it isn't what we are lead to believe at all. Tell me to anyone here, without using headcanons or other people's headcanons, did King Rauru and Queen Sonia ever had a son or daughter?
To me, the answer is a big fat NO.
Why you may ask? It is simple. King Rauru never mentioned the devastating effects this would have on a child at all in any of the cutscenes we see of him especially after Queen Sonia was murdered by Ganondorf.
So what you may be asking is "Then how does the Royal Family of Hyrule still exist to this day?"
The answer is via the actual blood descendant of the Goddess Hylia reincarnated form. The descendants of the Sleeping Princess from Zelda 2 The Adventure of Link. The Shiekah would obviously only serve those that are directly tied to the Goddess' Hylia's direct bloodline.
Sonia isn't directly tied to that bloodline because of one thing that most players forgot to noticed at first glance. Sonia has ZERO LIGHT POWERS. All Direct Descendants of Goddess Hylia have Light Powers.
So with the lack of an heir mentioned, Shiekah protection and Light powers proves once and for all that Sonia is a descandant of Princess Zelda from the first Zelda game who is a descendant of the brother of the true inheritor of the Goddess' bloodline. Meaning Princess Zelda(BotW/TotK) is a direct descendant of the Sleeping Princess Zelda.
So yeah that is my observation that so far no one else has noticed so far about Queen Sonia's blood ties to the current Princess Zelda from BotW and TotK.
If anyone has any questions for me about my statements made here please ask away by replying to this post. Hope to help you all shine LIGHT(see what I did there lol) on this mystery.

    • @javiervasquez625
      @javiervasquez625 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

The part about Sleeping Zelda being the "true ancestor" of BotW Zelda comes off convoluted given the lack of ANY other Royal Family in either of the timelines having to go through a similar scenario making me skeptical of this explanation for the Royal Family's existence in Breath of the Wild.
The part about Sonia NOT been Hylia's descendant is downright laughable considering the _Triforce symbols_ decorating her entire body making it very clear that yes SHE IS a descendant of Hylia by carrying the Triforce which her bloodline has *protected* over thousands of years across the ages since the times of Skyward Sword. One of the Stone Tablets in the sky islands refer to Sonia as a "Priestess of Hylia" which further aknowledge her as a descendant of her Grace carrying her duty in her name in her Era as the current descendant tasked with the protection of the Land leading to her and Rauru's creation of the Shrines and Lightroots to protect the world from the rising increase of monsters caused by Ganondorf's birth in her Era.
You really need to watch some Zeldatubers for they've made it quite clear that Sonia is Hylia's descendant just as her successor from Breath of the Wild.

    • @cm3368
      @cm3368 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Rauru and Sonia have a child that just isn't shown on-screen, this is evident in the fact that not only does the royal family exist but some sort of Zonai-Hylian hybrid race also existed for some time after the true Zonai's extinction, additionally the part about powers and daughters is no longer true as of Breath of the Wild, since King Rhoam is the bloodline carrier and also has his own very impressive magical abilities, being able to live as a Force Ghost for 100+ years after his death and physically interacting with the world

    • @goldliger1976
      @goldliger1976 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@cm3368 Just because she has a "bloodline descendant" ties with Zelda doesn't mean that Zelda is a descendant of HER family line. If you played the Downfall Timeline game Zelda 2 there are two Princess Zeldas meaning a split in the Royal Family line. The one with the Goddess direct bloodline and the one descendant of the brother(the prince).
Meaning that with the lack of the Shiekah race that is supposed to PROTECT the bloodline of the Goddess Hylia it means that they were outside of Hyrule protecting the ACTUAL Goddess bloodline descendant of Hylia.
The proof of this is Sonia not having the Triforce within her.

@@cm3368 ¿How do you *know* that Rhoam is Hylia's descendant and not his wife the queen? ¿Did you forget the memory where Zelda mentions her _grandmother_ stating the "Sealing Power" (the Triforce) can *only* be used by the _female members_ of the Royal Family suggesting Hylia's bloodline to be made mostly of WOMEN who carry her blood across the Ages? That ONLY WOMEN are able to wield the Sealing Power with Rhoam never even suggesting his ability to use it makes it very clear that it's the *QUEEN* who's bloodline ties to Hylia.

As much as I enjoyed TOTK story what really frustrates to me is that there may be no DLC explanation; leaving us missing key pieces with plenty of potential to add into this game. And so many plot holes that needs to be fill up.
One of which is the lack of Ganondorf’s backstory. I wanna see what his life is like before he became the Gerudo king. And have Twinrova as a new boss so his story will come to a complete full circle.
Another is the whereabouts of Kass. We all love the musician from Breath of the Wild and fans really love this NPC. Plus, he has given us tips to inform Link that Princess Zelda that she loves her appointed knight. But he is out to another region outside of Hyrule in Tears of the kingdom, and the only ones we know are his students. Players have been complaining about this since he excluded from Tears of the Kingdom, and they have been begging to Nintendo to bring him back.
And lastly, the Ancient Hero since we have only have the aspect when completing all the shrines and dungeons. What race is he from if he is not a Zonai? Is he a blend of Hylian-Gerudo and Zonai? Those are burning questions I can’t get over with.

I don't think the ancient hero was a zonai, the two share too many differences. I don't think the zonai have tails, and also their hair is usually white, not dark red. The ancient hero must have been some new race or atleast an evolution or far far descendant of the zonai

The Ancient Hero is more than likely a different _breed_ of Zonai hence the similar _arms_ to Rauru and Mineru despite having a lion like red mane and a tail. It's possible that he might lived in the Depths as a member of the "barbarian Zonai" tribe as suggested by the many Colosseums spread across the Depths.

I mean...it was most likely in its pedestal in Korok Forest. The NPCs in BotW and TotK talk about "the legendary sword" being hidden away "deep in a forest", so it's been in the forest long enough for its location to become legend (and in The Master Sword's Power memory, we learn that the pedestal restores the sword, so it was probably left there by the Ancient Hero who formerly wielded it to be restored and to await the arrival of the next Hero, who was Link, who according to the Zelda Wiki pulled the Master Sword from the pedestal in the forest when he was twelve or thirteen years old)

When Light Dragon comes to aid Link in the final battle, my first thought was “did she come back and maybe draconification hasn’t removed everything that is Zelda?” I believed it is her love for her knight is what drove her dragon instinct/consciousness in saving Link from falling and aiding him against the Draconified Demon King. We all seen that when her powers were activated when the one she loves is threaten in Breath of the Wild. And it is not friendship love as she did with the Champions. It is a romantic love.

Nintendo said Zelink is not canon and people stated the current incarnations of Link x Zelda are not romantically involved. Since I have played in both BOTW and TOTK, I refuse to believe any of them. So is what I break down the evidences that Link and Princess Zelda do love each other as it's very mutual and they're more special to me than anyone thinks:
    - King Rhoam assigning “HIM” as her appointed knight in in the first entry of Zelda’s diary
    - She is the only person that helps her Appointed Knight and Hero to be more opened to her as seen in Zelda’s diary entry in BOTW; explaining why he felt necessary to remain silent because with so much at stake and too many eyes upon him.
    - After the Calamity emerges beneath Hyrule Castle and nearly 80% of the land’s population is nearby wiped out, Link is gravely wounded defending his princess. She jumps in front of Link which activates her sealing powers.
In the Champion’s Ballad DLC, Kass hints Zelda’s love for Link at the very last song. Read this lyric here: 🎵 “The princess's love for her fallen knight awakens her power / And within the castle the Calamity is forced to cower. But the knight survives! In the Shrine of Resurrection he sleeps, until from his healing dream he leaps! For fierce and deadly trials await. To regain his strength. To fulfill his fate. To become a hero once again! To wrest the princess from evil's den. The hero, the princess-hand in hand-Must bring the light back to this land.” 🎵
    - Petals of the Silent Princess flowers represent their endless love as Bolton has mentioned after the Terry Town side quest.
    - In memory 8 of the Dragon Tears, Zelda tells Rauru her description of Link as well as her fondness of her knight/hero/lover. Her ancestors acted like the kind of parents who would be interested in meeting their daughter’s boyfriend and hoping to put Link’s mind at ease.
    - Before the pair set out to investigate the glooms beneath Hyrule Castle, Zelda was about to surprise Link with the newly improved Champion’s Tunic.
    - Both become teachers in Zelda’s School to educate a new generation of Hylians in Hateno Village with the assistant of Symin (since they saw themselves through them).
    - I’m not sure what the Japanese version is like, it claims that it is their home while the western called Link’s formal home “Zelda’s House”.
    - When Sidon said “I’m sorry, but we have yet to find your princess“ in either before or after you completed the Water Temple mission, this may implied that he is aware of their relationship.
    - A scene you get of Link surrounded by the silent princess flowers, a flower field where there are princess flowers and blue nightshade side-by-side, an npc implying married couples by dream homes, that dream home having a study and silent princesses nearby.
    - After completing the side quest in Lurelin Village, NPC tells Link about the couple’s secret visit at the Lover’s Pond (meaning Zelda visits there with Link accompanying her)
    - While the original Western version of Tears of the Kingdom calls this side quest “Potential Princess Sightings”, Link calls her "my sweet princess" in the Japanese quest log version
    - in the final boss battle, Light Dragon (Zelda) comes to save and aids Link against Draconified Ganondorf which could mean not all of her is lost. Zelda’s love for Link could be explained by her dragon instinct.
-Zelda’s dragonification is reversed when Rauru’s light power and Sonia’s time power channeling through Link. The reason why it happened was because they required Link’s stronger motives. And we have seen that before in BOTW where Zelda’s motives to save Link triggered her Light powers. It was love.
    - The entire goal of the game from the start isn't even "Kill Ganondorf". It is to "Find Princess Zelda" and that is only completed by Link by catching the real Zelda.
    - Link held on to her tightly as they landed on a lake. Upon being woken after being asleep for hundreds of thousands of years, Zelda can describe it as “a warm, loving embrace”.
    - When Zelda said “ Link ,I’m home”, I believe it is not just she really returned to the Hyrule she belongs to. But Link is her home. In Japanese however, Zelda said this: "ただいま... リンク" (pronounced as I'm home Link). These words depicts that is either someone close to family or a person you shared space with (aka lover). This hints that Link and Zelda are indeed lovers.
    - Mineru Theorized that reversing Zelda’s Draconification requires Sonia’s Time power and Rauru’s Light Power to be channeled through Link’s arm; but activating magic is also in need of strong motive. That is when Zelda smiles at her knight knowing how much his princess means to him.
    - In comparing the two secret endings, Link runs up to Zelda in Breath of the Wild while he walks proudly as he is showing his composure among his friends approaching Zelda. While she has shown a lot of love and care for the people of Hyrule, Princess Zelda’s true love is for Link and only the player can see the two of them in love.
My hope for the sequel of Tears of the Kingdom is that their relationship grow even further that we may get to see them become new rulers of Hyrule. Even though Nintendo will refuse to admit it.
