He was ahead of his time. I’m now just learning about things he talked about before I was born. Religious leaders told us not to listen to these kinds of songs-that they were immoral. That created a vacuum for today’s immoral songs to take hold. If you doubt me just listen to Nigerian songs today; they are all talking about women, money and lavish living; no positive content. Religious leaders told us not to listen to these kinds of songs-that they were immoral. That created a vacuum for today’s immoral songs to take hold. If you doubt me just listen to Nigerian songs today; they are all talking about women, money and lavish living; no positive content. If we had invested our minds on the music of Fela (and other positive musicians ) we would have been fully equipped to petition our leaders on issues pertaining to us; maybe we would have had better leaders after a revolution
