Nigerian legend proud to be Nigerian 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬
Who's still enjoying this masterpiece in 2020? They don't make them like Fela Kuti any more!!!
No, they do not cos it is impossible to replicate his work. Each song was a masterpiece that could not and cannot be copied.

So right. I was hoping that today could produce musicians of his caliber.
Thank you for enlighteningng me. Stay blessed!!

Glad you're enjoying such quality music.
I'm a South African boy from the Zulu clan who just found out about the Legendary Fela Kuti and I have to say, he probably has to be the best musician ever. He managed to touch hearts with his sound under horrifying times. He still touches my heart and I'm only 22 years of age. His music is something I will be proud to passing on to my children. May his soul rest in power
In 1972 us kids in New Zealand were listening to UK-based Osibisa - but when I hear FELA I suddenly understood where the Osibisa sound came from. Terrific music. Fela Kuti is the pioneer. Victor, I hope your future opens up bright for you.
Thank You Young Lion, you are OUR Future, 👍🏾👊🏾✌🏾🇳🇬🇺🇸
Im glad to a fellow South African listening to Fela, much love brother from Cape Town
Already thinking of making babies at 22?

Long live Fela Kutism, freedom fighter and an independent mind.
the man who invented the whole genre. LEGEND!!
As an African woman, Fela made me proud! I'm a WOMAN!
I was listening to Nduh Okoh on SpiceFM in Kenya and referred to her as a 9ja lady, and an hour later this song entered my mind and I just started laughing 😂 when the line "she go say I no be woman! She go say market woman na woman!" 😂😂😂 love it!!! I had not thought of it for a number of years!
Speaking as a 26 year old white boy in Kentucky, true music like this sails over the false walls that separate us. Truly, the fierceness of the spirit has been lost, my friends. Thank you for this sanctuary.
Liqht Raise yup love from Ghana
How can we have borders when the skies are open from Moscow to Nairobi to Sydney to.... you name it.
We created the walls ourselves.
ollo oduk absolutely right
ollo oduk The false walls will "fall" one day.
I did some training with US military personnel and a divorced guy complained bitterly about feminist ladies (especially his ex),just what Fela was singing about.
Arguably Africa's greatest musician
well, I could "argue" about that but I won't..... as there are SO MANY great great great African musicians out there..(Hugh Masakela etc etc etc)...but you can say this for sure...he was ONE of the greatest of all time...and also one of the greatest musicians in the entire world, of all time....not just Africa.....
Baba na Baba 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 the only truthful man in Nigeria 😢 continue to rest in the lord Jesus Christ Amen 🙏😭
Yes oo
I'm a south african man who has been raised constantly being exposed to fela. I will forever cherish his music ❤️🇿🇦🎶🙏2020
Where in RSA are you from
Yeah, he was very vocal against apartheid. "Animal want dash me human right ..." Saying it to Boether and Thatcher
This song cemented fela as an unapologetic African man.
A song made in the 70’s still attacking issues of today. What a legend RIP Fela Kuti
Growing up in the city of Lagos in the 90s, I always wondered at the mind this departed legend had that he could withstand soldiers' harassment, oppression, and torture just because of singing. He is indeed a prophet who foretells present-day conditions. African isn't yet free.
Greetings... a Guatemalan native here. I had the blessing of finding his music in 1996 and 25+ years later this music sounds even better after many years more under my belt.

I am from Bosnia, who cares, it is 2020. who cares. Do I feel this? Yes! That’s why I am here.
My father died in 2013 and i found a DC of Fela. After listening, i understand now why my father was a fan . Great music, great artist

Shame on you! Cheers! ;)
This world needs more Fela's! Greetings from Germany and Turkey!
I've heard fela's lady for the first time in spring 1977. I was "bewitched" by its rhythm. I'm now 65 years old, and I listen to it usualy, especially the l'on version.
Missing my dad who died 20 years ago, this was the music he loved and played in our home!
May his soul Rest in Peace. Make him proud by doing what he expected of you cos our actions, based on the expectations of the deceased, are the only way we can honour them. Good luck sis.
Same here
True artistic genius.
He really was the real deal.
This music will live on forever because it has meaning and feeling in its DNA.
Brilliant stuff.
i saw him in amsterdam in the 80s i paid my respect on his tumb in Lagos in the 90s i am crying listening to him in paris in October 2018 he make me fight against injustice in Ghana and the whole world where the word INJUSTICE means something in the 80s,90s and 20s i never tell the finish RIP MR.FELA

It is Fela music, that l felt in love with my husband and Nigeria food. Today l still do. Thank you Fela for your music.
This is love from Kenya 🇰🇪🇰🇪 I love Fela's work, he was gifted.
Fela was simply brilliant, a master musician, and messenger, activist, his message is so relevant today...much love from Kenya 🇰🇪
As a kid, I used to find his music so boring. Until I grew up to understand the LYRICS. I love Fela Kuti. He's still I and my uncle's favorite 🖤🖤🖤
Death is at its weakest when faced with this level of spiritual greatness, because Fela continues to live and inspire. Fela is us.
For me, this is freedom fighter who should be listened to forever.

Melodies in sounds 🥁🪘🎸 🎷 🎺
This song has me so emotional because I can imagine during his time with so much British influence how African women would have tried acting white and how Africans in general look down on their culture till today. I’m glad he spoke against it
You couldn't have said it better. He wouldn't be Fela if he didn't say something about it.

glad you have such good taste in music, my Brother....Fella was a musical genius beyond all.... he was so far ahead of everyone else...only now, the world is beginning to catch up t o him...
I was born in 1989 and I love this song! It's literally perfect.
I was in the Bahamas in January 1969 & i bought this albumn(12 inch disc) then at a music shop in Abaco, together with several others.Mano Do bango,Hugh Masekela & other African musicians was 28 then I'm almost 82 now, & still can enjoy this music today.

I just discovered his music 3 days ago. I'm about to go on a journey
Growing up In Nigeria as a Teenager I listened to Fela with My Older Brothers, Now in my 50's I am still enjoying the songs and my Teenage Son has discovered it. I can see his children enjoying it one day. Truly everlasting.
I am Cameroonian i like Fela Kuti this beautiful song
Fela,Manu,Okousun,Dr Nico,Louga, que sais-je encore. On ne peut pas les nombres, ces sommités africaines de la musîque.Il faut simplement dire : Merci Seigneur de nous avoir donne de si bonnes choses.
Fela was so powerful, they couldn't contain him. His music spoke to the oppressed, inspired and the awakened. l love Fela and his music!
Not was...Is. fela is Alive
Fela was an innovator, a beautiful mind with a horn or a keyboard. The rest is all noise. Lady tells a beautiful story about the importance of what is in a name. I recently greeted a woman - I mean a lady - in Nigeria as M'am, and she immediately retorted that "Who is m'am?" I remembered Fela and smiled.
I am a lady , with a dose of an African woman Mr. Fela…
Rest in peace great one..
Fela is just more than a legend truly.
As a cameroonian, nigerian musicians are great! But Fela is the one..Still wonder on his Skills, and how Nigeria government wont do something for his memories and give some value to the Shrine!! Go Slow as he sang! Even Macron recognize whether not in public am sure he do listen Fela's magic home... Fela Anikulapo was a Genius!! Baba Legend!

Absolutely brilliant...still a masterpiece in 2023
fela was ahead of his time and thats why Nigerian politicians, military and police could not understand him. First heard this song 1979 kitwe chimwemwe Zambia. still playing it in 2017. love sound of those elephants (trumpets).
Nduba Namoonde To be honest my brother it is everywhere in Africa when u r ahead of politicians army government they tend to kill you
could not understand ? they understood him quite well and that's the reason they kept attacking him. he constantly exposed them and said the things others were scared to say !
Exactly. No one can beat the system, except through enlightenment, expression and music. Fela was a real man, of likes we see very few of these days, but he chose to fight the entire system which this world is sadly based on. Ignore the idiots, laugh at them even when they steal all your food.
@@osabuoheinogbebor9563 so true, The army beat him up bad, broke all his musical instruments, and thew his own mom off a rooftop, because he spoke out against them...they understood his message VERY CLEARLY.....that is why they almost killed him...

Enjoying every bit of this"fela's' tunes
This song titled Lady brings back fond memories way back in1978 when i was in high school. This song was the opening song at our variety show and the girls and boys dressed in african atire streamed into the school hall dancing. I fell in love with this song and it would play in our household. We even nicknamed my young sister Lady as she danced to it very well. Love Fela.
I was in my senior year in 1978 and you're right Fela was very popular among teenagers then, and the track was released in 1973 when I was a freshman. It stayed at the top of the Afrobeat songs chart since its inception, and it still swinging today
When i was a teenager, i used to party hard off of this in Kenya night clubs (1900 & the garden) in 1975 and i still love this jam. U GO SAY I B LADY O

How can these Nigerian presidents be so cruel to felakuti who exposed the wrong things they did. Even to the extent of neutralizing his mother. Thunder fire on their souls.

2021 December 20 1845 Hours Zimbabwe..who is still with Fela here???
Hello. I 1st started getting hip to Mr. Fela through my dear sister from California. At 1st I was shocked by his lyrics and musical style. But as I got listening I began to get more and more out of what he's still saying today through his musical works and activism and through that of Mr. Fela, Jr's. musical works and activism. I wish all here and in Fela Kuti Music World well. ✌💖
Fela philosophy could have made Africa world power, best in any productive, he's a winner right from birth. Music inspiring the death soul to live again. I Love you kuti

Whoever puts all of this information on the screen during the Fela tracks, thank you. There is a ton of very interesting info on these videos. You do a great job. I've learned quite a bit about Fela that I didn't already know.
It is so sad that Africans and Nigerians especially do not recognise their Legends and Heros. But we are proud to erect statues of Foreigners and name our important streets after them. While Fela is still not even given the status that befits him. Fela is still the best ambassador to have come out of Nigeria. The Nigerian youths have not forgotten and will never forget you Baba Fela Anikulapo ransomkuti because you still are a great source of inspiration and an Idol. You were there for the oppressed and down troden, that is still going on today in Nigeria and Africa as a whole. One day, we will name our best after you. Continue to rest in peace.
WELL SAID... THX!!!
U talk correct!!!
Nigeria is not a "nation" and therefore it is impossible to acknowledge heroes. Sorry
fela has a museum shrine and his sons are keeping the legacy alive seun kuti is reincarnation of fela politically and social justice wise

Me too ...listen to every week for years ....this is music and words of truth !
A fervent lesson in musical reproduction . Do not go to the studio or laboratory and jumble up some fabrication or concoction in a hurry . It would not last the test of time . Of course you have to have talent . Which is the first and paramount requisite for excellence in all branches of the arts . Since its release in 1973, when l was about 14 years old, l have been thrilled by this exilarating album, sides A and B . Now at 61 years of age, the effect still outstandingly revererberates all over my body and soul with a chilling shiver and great sensation. The sound and instrumental arrangement high in measure, sonorous rendition on the alto 🎷 solo by FELA ANIKULAPO KUTI himself, juicy rhythm guitar, and of course, deep bass, rounded up by tight percussion mix of african and standard 🥁 drum sets . Just irresistible to your feet . LADY .
Yes! No computer generated stuff. He is there cranking out those sounds just playing the instruments. This is y this music cannot be replicated nor sampled. It is just way too original.
The alto sax solo was by a great saxophonist named IGO CHICO, Conrad Sunkiojack, man. Fela couldn't do that. His feelings on sax were like his aggressive opposition to oppression, very harsh, ear-grating stuff. Chico - Lord bless his departed soul - was the master of subtle melody on sax. Respect to Chico!
Precisely!
Since u left us no one could wear ur shoe, continue to rest the greatest icon of our time. The prophet.
RIP King of Afrobeat. 🛐✝️❤️🇿🇦🇳🇬
