I always separate my Navy from black. Same for sock drawer
Challenge: wear same top/pants for 3 days. (launder as necessary).
Change handbag, sweater/blazer/jacket, shoes, jewelry (earrings, necklace, bracelet, rings) , maybe a scarf and no necklace in colder weather.
Interesting to discover I don’t need extra garments.

I do actually organize my closet this way! So many options and you don’t spend a ton of money on clothes that you only have a few options for wearing! Love your outfit you have on, it looks really sharp on you!

I also hang my clothes on colored hangers. It made it easier to get dressed when my boyfriend worked graveyard and I had minimal light
Love your creativity! I do organize my closet by category but I get "stuck" on what to keep/toss.. I start my project then quickly become overwhelmed and of course I stop. Too many emotions attached to clothing! Thank you for another great video!

I organize my clothes just like you do! First by category. Then by color light to dark.

Yes. I make sure I try to purchase clothes that will work with my current closet. I can't say everything goes together, but I at least strive for several outfits out of one piece.

I think ithis idea is ideal for holidays to maximizing outfit choices, however, at home i do prefer hanging all items in colours and shades, as i like the block colour look. 😊

I do this differently. Winter closet. Summer closet.
Tops, pants, dresses. Now have 30 summer garments. Want to downsize to 12 garments to summer color palette. I am ‘autumn’ palette: coral, green, browns, khaki, ivory for summer. I can’t wear white ir black. Washes me out.
Scarves, jewelry, hats, handbags, shoe investments can change the garments. It’s a different thought process to have fewer garments but much better quality garments.

I would get the pink pants dirty the first time I wear them . Then my options would be dramatically reduced until laundry day.

I really enjoy your videos. I like to wear colors too but I like to wear some bright colors and I also like to wear some soft colors. I've always tried to wear grey on top but I realize it is not a good color for me. I still wear it on the bottom 🤪 Do I have to choose bright or soft colors 🤔?
I also classify by type but I like to hang solids with solids and prints with prints. I find that mixing prints with solids is too visually cluttered.

Doesn’t everyone organize their closet this way? I can’t imagine anyone doing it by outfit. I kind of like the idea, though, haha…certainly would make dressing a heck of a lot faster and easier!
I do everything by outfit, including smalls. It’s all ready to go in the AM. Not all top shapes go with all bottoms. I have only black, white, denim and tan, so the colours aren’t an issue. I plan my outfits well in advance because of my very early starts and I choose based on events, weather and rotation. It has saved so much time, and indecision.
I think David Kibbe recomends that you organize by outfit.

I also struggle wearing color, and have more than a few gray shirts, but I'm hoping to help my mom feel happy wearing colors again. Is there some kind of advice I can share with her?
You might try giving her a scarf that incorporates color, to tie onto her handbag, or use as a belt, or (gasp) wear around her neck. Then add a cardigan in her favorite color.

I've never thought of organising my clothes by outfit... I thought by classification was what everyone did???!!
...I don't know why people would organize thier closet by " outfits ", ..UNLESS it's a special Uniform, depending on one's job, etc.
I have organized my Closet by Colour, by Category , since I was in High School.... before Organized Closets were ' a thing', lol. ( it was early 70's. Yes ma'am. .. lol. )
