    It is truly a shame Ken just dissapeared from TH-cam. He is one Helluva' great teacher and phenomenal picker! Miss this cat.

    Hi Art! Thank you for the compliment. I've never worked up Departure, but I just released a new 7 disc instructional video set that covers Brad Paisley's style and many of the techniques he uses. I learned a lot myself during the 5 months I spent putting it together. You can check it out on my website. The link is above in the description box. Thanks

    Hey Nelson! Thanks. Your question is a hard one to answer. It all depends on what sounds good to your ears, because all amps have a different sound. I'd suggest that you play through as many different amps as you can, with your Tele, and choose the one that sounds best to you.

    Fantastic. I just took a peek at his video set. Video 5 is Vince Gill's Oklahoma Borderline solo. Gotta have it.

    So this is what you were telling me about last night at Buffalo. GREAT tutorial! I've got most of your tutorials on my *favorites* but didn't realize 'till just now that I hadn't actually subscribed to your channel. :) See you around & thanks for putting these on film for the rest of us pickers out there trying to figure this stuff out! ~Kougar Kori~

    Probably makes it easier to think of the caged system by using the G shape chord and E shape chord to work your way down the scale. The G shaped chord is what he describes as “apart” fingering. And E shape was the “together”

    When I start the guitar (about 30 years ago) the video were not existing. Friends of my brother showed me how to play sometimes, i had not lessons (I did not like lessons by the way because i was not enough mature to take the good sides of the lessons). So I was playing on my own "hours and hours" not in the good manner. Also I listened to the records and tried to find the note with the ears...again and again and again. It was very frustrating because i could not find exactly the right notes but more or less it was ok. In fact this way of learrning guitar on my own only with the ears, beside the fact it was approximative, I think it was very useful to me because I have acquired the culture of the "sound" just like if I were blind. The use of the ears is so important...also my imagination was teased. I cannot understand how it is possible to play music while reading music...for me it is absolutely impossible to imagine even 1 second. Reading music is a nightmare for me just like if I were in jail.
    I have discovered piano very late also and I am learning it on my own. With guitar i play pop, rock but I do not know why I learn classical music only with piano. I do not take any lesson with teachers because when I say to them that i do not read music this is like a thunder, they turn white with big eyes and very often I hear "This is the biggest mistake that you can do : you will fail".
    So instantly i do want to keep on talking to them. I respect them but I do not want to be spoiled or polluated and I hate hearing curses. Just like if classical music was " a garden for selected people" with a warning "Do not trepassing this area unless you are graduated". I hate "limits" and I dislike exclusion or the culture of "privilege".
    This video is really well done I like country guitar, it is full of joy, energy.

      @CountryGuitarChops thanks Ken. Just signed up to Country chops, it's fantastic. Always struggled with picking the triplets on the chicken picking. I think chet used to do the thumb and index. Is that how you get by

      @CountryGuitarChops  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kurtrehbein9103 I alternate between index, middle and ring, mostly using the middle.

    Is that a Duncan p 90 in the neck ? awesome playing learned a lot from this. Thank you

    Major 6th, Minor 6th. The Minor 6th looks like a backwards octave. Skip a string skip a fret. Major 6th, skip a string don't skip a fret. The interval gets bigger as your fingers get closer...because it's upside down. Anyhow that's how I explain it.
    Fun lesson.
    Sub. Scribed.

    Thanks for what you do! Greatly appreciated! I'm getting my first tele for my bday in a couple weeks, I sure would appreciate if you could recommend a good amp to go with it. I'm looking to play some older and some modern country. I've read great stuff on the vox AC 30, fender twin and fender deluxe reverb, any help would be great, thanks partner.

    • @CountrySingerWannabe
      @CountrySingerWannabe 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      In some of his lessons I see a 68 reverb reissue but I have the 65 reverb. If you are a veteran player go for the best you can get or afford. The 65 reissue with 2 12in speakers are around 1500. Buying used you can get them for 8 or 900. The Vox is a great amp and Brad Paisley has amps based on the AC30 (don't think he actually uses and AC30 though). Go to Zzounds.com and get a great amp on interest free payments. Nothing worse than settling for an amp you eventually feel is lacking so go for what you want out of the box.

      And no I don't work for Zzounds just been using them for years to get my stuff.

    Good lesson! If these guys need tabs watch your fingers, beginner lessons mel bay low grade guitar notes treble
    cliff,
    whatever, teacher buddy tech dude , How is the C# note in the key of A major ,technically called a 6th?? , 3rd note in the A maj scale is C# as you
    already know..

    • @CountryGuitarChops
      @CountryGuitarChops  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Danny. Sorry for the slow response, your comment went to the spam folder and I just found it. I'm not sure why it's technically called a 6th, but a friend of mine that's a GIT grad told me chords like that are 6th's, not 3rds. I'm with you though, I still look at them as a chord is with the 3rd in the bass! I think both ways would be correct.

    • @rokeley94
      @rokeley94 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      CountryGuitarChops C# is the third of an A chord (A, B, C#), but if you count up to A from C#, it's a 6th (C#, D, E, F, G, A). 6th's and 3rd's are inverted intervals of each other, so an A - C# is a ma3, but C# - A is a mi6. It is just another way to think about it, 6's are simply inverted 3's. Both ways of thinking are correct.

      +CountryGuitarChops more simply, a third above, a sixth below

    • @Barzi2001
      @Barzi2001 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Even more simply: think to the number 9.
      If note X and Y are a third far away, then the "inverted" distance (i.e. the distance from Y to X) is a sixth. In-fact, 6+3 = 9.
      Example: A and E are distant 5, so E and A are distant 4. In-fact 5+4 = 9.
      The quality (major and minor) are inverted. Example: C and E are distant a major third and then E and C are distant a minor sixth.
      Hope this also help. :-)

      I always assume that these kind of disrespectful comments come from punk kids, but I just visited your channel and you sure don't look like the kind of guy who has to turn off the comments on your own videos to avoid getting the kind of disrespectful comments you make on other people videos. You are a pathetic hypocrite. If you don't like someone else's videos, do what you have them do to yours. Shut up and leave their channel.
