I realy appreciate it, that you allways cut straigth to the point. No long intros/outros, just the information in an understandable way.
I made a character on each faction and played to lvl 15. The default guns give you a good feel for the factions weapons overall and just joining squads can show you what kind of people you'll be playing alongside.
Don't forget the HUGE amount of players who picked simply based on what avatar seemed cooler to them at start lol. Years Later they actually become a skilled salty vet..then try other factions and pick again as per your suggestions ;)

I prefer NC because i like the the look of the weapon and their unique way to fire. Most NC weapons are based on Gauss Technology which fire electric coil.
One thing worth mentioning is how directives play into the decision. Vanu have the most interesting directive weapons, but not necessarily the best. I am currently trying to get my heavy assault auraxium on VS, but using the lasher in off hours is a massive pain.

The thing that convinced me to choose a faction were the bonus cheques. Thats it.
If you like having a balanced fight play nc or tr. If you like getting everything on a silver plate, play vs
Dude vs is balanced. We may have accuracy. But we have half the amount of rounds in a magazine. And half the damage.

I'm an infantry only type of person, so heres my breakdown of the differences in their weapons.
Vanu is actually the most basic of the group, they prefer the 'slow and steady' approach. If you have an 'average' rate of fire down the middle, then most of Vanu's weapons 'generally' shift to the left of that. To compensate for their generally lower damage, they instead get majorly reduced vertical recoil in comparison to other factions, although this does come at the cost of some of their weapons being a bit 'shaky' with horizontal recoil. Their non-lmg weapons generally have a 143 damage model and 30 rounds-making them a little bit light on damage 'per mag' but also comes with great reload speeds. I actually think that this faction is probably the 'easiest' to play, even if it might be a bit frustrating to be on the weaker side, since Planetside's recoil is probably the most confusing part about infantry play. Vanu focuses much more on ranged accuracy, but does have its own supply of decent hipfire weapons.
TR is obviously all about fast shooting and big mags. If you have an 'average' rate of fire down the middle, then most of TR's weapons mostly shift far to the right of that, but they do have a few weapons that are on the slower end too. This higher damage per second comes with some costs, specifically, they have rather aggressive recoils, and they are far less likely to have compensators due to the low damage 'per bullet' so they don't have any way of 'dealing' with the recoil other than by skill. Their non-LMG weapons generally have a 143 damage model and 40 rounds instead of the standard 30, giving them the highest average damage per mag of all the factions--at the cost of PAINFULLY slow reload speeds. While this faction might be 'fun' to play as a new player because of it's high damage letting you get kills, I think its the hardest faction to play due to its harsh recoil and reload speed penalties. TR focuses on short range or hipfire capabilities, but almost lacks or just barely isn't quite right at long range capabilities in most cases.
NC is the heavy hitter of the group by far. If you have an 'average' rate of fire down the middle, then debatably you could say that NC generally sticks right down the middle, and shifts to the left just a bit sometimes--the reason this is debatable, is because of their different 'most common' damage model being different, so this is assuming you are compensating for that difference. With a damage model of 167, it comes with a lot more power per bullet but also has some drawbacks-a lower 'per bullet' rate of fire, meaning that missing is more of an issue, and more vertical recoil than most weapons, although it does come with the benefit of very rarely having much horizontal recoil. Their non-lmg weapons generally have 30 round mags, which puts them right in the middle of damage per mag, and their reload speed varies greatly between different weapons, with some being speedy, and some being slow. NC is also the only faction to have access to 200 damage model weapons, although the tradeoffs are pretty much even more of the same, more recoil and slower rate of fire. NC is actually a fairly balanced faction to start off on, since even though the vertical recoil is 'high' its very controllable, in comparison to horizontal recoil, and the VERY recent patch buffed compensators which 'most' NC weapons have access to-the compensator reduces vertical recoil which was 'great' for NC before, but it's effect was basically doubled. NC focuses much more on ranged damage, although isn't always 'great' at ranged accuracy due to it's recoil-and I think has the smallest selection of hipfire capabilities.
I have to disagree with you.
NC is the easiest faction due to overpop, shotguns on EVERYTHING and everywhere(which became op now), high damage oriented weapons, second best max(NSO max is the best). Btw TR now have 200 damage model weapon of their own.
VS is by far the hardest faction to play. Generally weaker guns, some of the worst directives, worst max, worst heavy weapon(for general use) and empire specific rocket launcher, magrider(a double edge sword), often double teamed.
@@addmen96 I'm still going to say that the VS is the easiest to start as for new players because of their low recoil allowing for an easier learning period. I mentioned that they have lower damage that is a bit annoying but its still more helpful to learn the game off of.

@@gary0044187 I feel like VS gets the very short end of the stick. TR and NC (and NSO) can mitigate recoil with skill, and unfortunately for VS cant learn to have increased base damage and rate of fire.

Magrider is the best tank for hit and run and positioning fights
Prowler is the best tank for columns, HESH, AA, and Forward Speed
Vanguard is the best tank for 1v1 tank combat against another MBT
Chimera is the funky cousin who has some potential, yet never fully realizes it
Chimera is the tank you use as an "off-tank".
One-on-one, or even in a small group fight, the Chimera is just too big and too easy of a target.
But if you're rolling with an armor column or a zerg, the Rival Chassis' ability to backpedal just as fast as it goes forwards, as well as the four rumble seats giving you squad spawns with Logistics Specialist... well, I'm not saying it's *good*, but you can certainly get up to some fuckery that you'd normally need a Sunderer or ANT for, except now you're in a main battle tank.
@@TheCyanDragon I NS main, thank god for the rival chassis or chimera would suck more than it does. It is however, really good at munching up non-MBT vehicles with the Satyr

Zealous, im very satesfied that you made the pick option based on peoples language and country. Rarely you see youtubers recomend factions base on a persons culture background. This is in my opinion one of the best way to encurage people to join a game, is to provide information on where they can find simular people to them selfs. Good jobb!
NC: Easy mode, dual wield shotgun maxes, tanks can get massively reduced damage, and bullets do more damage, plus TV Rockets.
VS: Role play, your weapons are easy to aim, , your tanks can go almost anywhere they want, and your air units are hard to hit, plus full auto splash shotguns.
TR: Hard mode, you have fast bullets, none will hit. your maxes have many bullets that fire like full auto air-soft shotguns, and your tanks can lock down in place to make them easier to hit, but it lets you fire more bullets, plus, you have faster rate of fire.
I mained tr in ps1 and continued it onto connery at launch. Dakka for life.
That being said, when I came back to the game years later I decided to main NSO. Although I still dislike helping those dirty vanu. TR for life with a side of NC for me thank you very much.
Shotguns and sniper rifles are basically the same across the 3 main factions. The only difference is vanu shottys have slightly lower muzzle velocity
And vanu have a 0 bullet drop sniper
@@evarage57 i think that may be the paralax which is a faction specific sniper
honestly first few BRs are easy to come by so don't be afraid to start multiple toons. It's especially easy to get those early BRs if you join some of the mentor squads or some outfits' public squads (sometimes a pubby squad can be fun but some outfits definitely use you as cannon fodder so you gotta get good at discernment). a good mentor squad should be using voip to let you know what they are doing. You don't have to respond, but following along should help maximize your own cert growth while getting used to the environment. All factions have great guns. All factions have great outfits. The key is to find someone you like to play with who plays when you do. I personally have tunes on all 4 factions on emerald. I play NC 90% of the time. But once in a while when my friends are offline I do enjoy dinking around with the other guns.
honestly, I suck at aiming so NC should probably have not been the play for me, but all my friends are there and NS weapons are available on NC anyways so there is that.

Whenever I started, I chose TR and I kinda wish I didn’t and I don’t want to make a new account but I wish I didn’t because every time we fight the purple guys I’m shooting them with little Nerf bullets while they disintegrate me with plasma ray guns and I don’t think it’s fair
Honestly at the beginning it’s annoying but once you get the hang of them and get out of the starter guns they’re quite fun I can easily compete with the other factions players
I have not played the game for like nearly 10 years, last time I played was when they just introduced the lattice system but then the Vanu were zerg rush, massive amounts of low skill players who stick in zergs where NC seemed to have coordinated squad players.
Vanu of course still had clans who group up for major pushes, most of the time vanu owned entire continents.
You forgot to mention that the Vanu have no bullet drop off, have the best weapon sights bar non, blend in more easily from their dark colors, AND have the most impactful weapon attachments.
I recommend playing all off them it's just more fun like that and open's you eyes to new opinions I thought vs was very strong so I switched to vs for a bit but turns out that there just good ate the game.

i play vanu as main, not because it's strong but because i loved the aesthetics, but now that i brought my main to lvl 40 i'm starting to play nc a lot, especially heavy assault because i love the lmg's (i hate vanu's smg's)

I personally love the NSO for a few reasons. You're not truly stuck to a faction unless you buy a membership and pay 1k certs, so there's always someone to kill. You can pledge if you have a membership and swap that pledge whenever you want for the 1k certs each time. You can swap from pledge to freelance.
And I love their weapons, especially the PMG-3XB (3 round burst SMG). Plus you're a robot, what's not to like🤣😂

Firstly TR cobalt is sadly pretty inconsistant from a squad quality perspective.
Secondly Vanu weapons are really easy to get into thats also why the average Vanu new player is better than the average Nc or Tr
There are downsides to vs like smaller clip size. Way lower damage. But yes every one thinks one faction has a complete advantage. A mag rider is as good as dead if gets trapped in a corner. Because it has way less armor, and damage.
heres my story.... I started on NC becuase i liked the idea of fighting for freedom. Turns out i liked the look of their weapons. Moved to vanu becuase i got roped into an awesome outfit, most of the time i found myself using NS weapons, then i played NSO, and now i play NSO on vanu with my outfit. This went over the time of 8 years. I hate TR weapons, cant stand them. Also as a person who has spent .....uh... alot of money on this game, i like customizing my character, and TR look like dookie to me. Vanu by has the best customizations imo.
I would definitely say for new people don’t join a faction because you like Communist or alien aesthetics (If you cannot use a specific faction well, staying for the looks is the wrong idea)
Test all the factions then decide from there, the looks of the factions is by far the least of your concern
I wouldn't say tr has a communist feel as much as a general space authoritarian feel. Basically starship troopers or imperium of man.
VS don't miss. TR keep firing. NC hit like a truck. As a freelancer I prefer playing with Vanu most and I like fighting against NC the least.
The TR winrate on Cobalt is low cause the standard Alert strat is like: "Lets push to the warpgate..... O no we re getting double teamed.... How did that happend." XD

@@bananaboye3759 Oh I dont personally care. But some people do. Its a shame that whats going on is happening, but that shouldn't really be anything to stop the natural comparison between the TR and Communism in general.
The best starting faction is probably the Vanu Sovereignty. Their specific weapons are geared towards balance and ease of use, and have excellent properties such as comparatively low recoil, balanced damage/fire rate/mag capacity, and the unique advantage of energy based weapons: no bullet drop over distance. Fire straight at the target, and you'll hit it. No need to adjust for distance or zero scopes, with most of their weapons! They also have access to what I believe is the best sniper rifle in the game- the Phaseshift VX-S, with no bullet drop, infinite ammo, and dual firing modes, giving you the option of semi-auto follow ups, or bolt-action style, immediate kill headshots, except you can fire twice so it's better than a bolt action.
pick VS or NC.VS has super accurate weapons with no bullet drop

What are you smoking man? Minus a couple extra shotguns (jackhammer for example) all the shotguns are quite LITERALLY copypasted across the 3 factions... all factions have access to oneshot pumpaction shotgun, they actually have access to the SAME ONE just under different name and ingame model.
Also having a paid membership will make the game extremely easier levelling up. I have 1,400+ hrs and I’m BR91. This game is made to be nearly paid to win. If you only want to do one month at a time, it’s better than paying for a years membership and not playing like me.
I only play NC really but I think VS (and TR) have better vehicles and weapons. I guess I would play a character one day and then switch to the next faction the next day, so you should be at least BR 5 on each character before you think more about it.
I am a VS main, and think exactly like you. Meaning, after I played on TR and NC, I think that TR and NC have better vehicles and weapons than VS.
Easier faction descriptions for choosing:
Vanu: Easy Mode
Terran Republic: Hard mode
NC: Overpowered shotguns
NSC: Normal mode, but chaotic play as you drop to any faction.

New Players should play VS on cobalt eu. Because its cancer to fight them as newbie. If you arent a salty sweaty vet or have insane good aiming skills and lightning fast learning capability.
And reaver is the worst esf cause of brick hitbox from all ankles. The slight afterburner advantage isnt worth it.
NC Teamkilling is only fun when you are familiar with it😂.
One more think about reaver it the only one esf that need skill to land xD if u don't land corectly it will by it self flip on roof

Man, TR and NC have tools that make them the best at something and Vanu is basically worse in most aspects, except Platoons.

Despite VS being the best on cobalt they get populated least on the server.
There is an unspoken alliance between VS and NC so it's just 30% TR v.s. 70% enemies

NC objectively has the best armory. It's very disheartening when my first advice for playing VS is spend 2k certs to replace the Solstice and Pulsar VS1

VS easy? Maybe on cobalt since you get carried by vets there... it is not the case at all on miller.
@@Igor369 I have nearly 2000 hours of VS over Miller and Cobalt. On both servers VS consistently wins more than both TR and NC. Getting to 200 was a breeze on my VS chars but it's nightmare on NC. It's nothing wrong with the weapons or vehicles but NC as a whole just lacks the cohesion that the other two factions have.
Vanguard less powerful than magrider? Yeah ok
the skill ceiling is far higher for the magrider compared to the vanguard. on the other hand the skill floor is way lower for the vanguard than the magrider

I can't stand playing other factions rather than VS. VS feels like you get the worst weapons but you still outperform other factions' op toys and use strategy instead of "just dump tanks and go".
In a few years none of other factions have made me want to try them, as I feel personally offended with their sheer existence
I've been playing Planetside 2 for 2 years now and have only played on Cobalt so far. Big mistake! VS is too powerful here and has many veterans and platoon leaders. TR has a lot of Russians and unfortunately you hardly understand them. NC is only good on Cobalt when the good platoon leaders are online and that's rare. I've switched to Miller now and find it much more balanced, although NC has a lot of players, the Alerts win is very balanced.
Would you consider Miller or Cobalt more challenging?

All empire specific shotguns other than directive weapons are exact copies of each other (we don’t count the jackhammer that’s a heavy weapon)

NC does not have better shotguns. The shotguns are pretty much copy/paste across all three factions, with only NSO having different stats

It wasn't really about politics but rather aesthetics. TR do have authoritarian looks and lore. But you don't have to be politically authoritarian/communist/fascist to play them.

@@pinorska6316 well as far as I’m concerned TR are trying to maintain a legacy of the republic of earth, which was liberal. NC are paid by corporations that wanted to have a part in the space exploration. And VS are just trying to build a new society with all the new Vanu tech. But in the war, I guess all they factions represent the worst and most evil parts of otherwise great ideas - NC: free market and absolute liberty, but they didn’t notice that they have basically became corporate slaves. VS: love for technology and progress, but for that they are forgetting what made them human, and in the end, not even their technology will save them, just like it didn’t save Vanu. TR - peace and civil society, but in war they have became almost slaves of the state.

A lot of players want different things, don't gloss over skilled gameplay outfits with this numb assumption you make. If I joined SKL I would have quit outright. Very few outfits were suitable at all to me, many of the perceived skill fits are not even so. There are only about 4 outfits I'd give any time to on the entire server as a preference. Don't back new players into a limited understanding of the game
Can you imagine what it's already like for the war pigs? So many of them have been overjoyed to finally realized their potential without such a dorky environment

Vanu has the most accurate and easy to use weapons by far. Less recoil, bloom, no drop. Mag rider is easiest to drive by far, most mobile, hardest to kill. Vanu wins more on PS4 too, cause they're easy mode. You're just butt hurt cause you die. Scythe has smallest profile too. Harder to see Vanu at night, unless you make graphics look like shit, like yours, then it isn't enjoyable anymore
Just don’t play nso i like playing nc because I definitely fall more in line with how most of the nc community and am acting able to have fun no role playing annoying outfits that tk if you meme
