I remember this, this was that game with that HORRIBLE call in it. Ohio State got ripped off on a fresh set downs to kneel out. They hadn't EVER called holding on Miami all game long (otherwise it would've been a blowout). Unfortunately there was no replay back then to show Gamble also had a 1st down so OSU had to win twice.
I hear so much bullshit about the interference call but NOOOObody wants to mention the block in the back by Miami to spring that huge punt return to put Miami in field goal range
Arizona always has classic sports games. World Series Game 7 Yankees Diamondbacks, Ohio State vs Miami National Championship, Super Bowl XLII, Super Bowl XLIX Something about the desert breeds classics
You do know you can only make one decision either was holding or pass interference. It was neither the ball clearly bounced off of the receivers hands before sharp wrapped him up.
It wasn't either of them, though. That was normal coverage that happens on every passing play at the goalline no matter the game. The flag wasn't thrown until several seconds after the play ended. If the flag was for "holding" like you said, it should have been thrown at the time of the supposed hold, which would have had to occur, by definition, when the ball was still in the QBs hands, and he was in the pocket... but it was thrown a full 3 seconds after the play ended... which given the flight of the ball, it was well over 5 seconds after the supposed hold. That's how you know it was a bogus call. Furthermore, that defensive holding call would have to occur more than 5 yards beyond the line of scrimmage, because they're allowed handfighting from the line of scrimmage. Since it was 4th & goal from the 3yd line, that would extend 2 yards into the End Zone. The ball was already thrown before Gamble made it 2 yards deep into the End Zone... so, there's another indication why the Defensive Holding call was bogus, as well. They intentionally made an unchallengeable judgement call of the referee type of call to ensure Miami didn't win the game, which was thrown after Miami had already won the game.
@@petermanson3475 Larry Coker said it wasn’t so much to call. It was the timing of the call kinda like you don’t call a foul on the last shot in the NBA championship game. That’s what he meant.

Still alot of b...... about that call..hows this though...all ohio state heard was how they didn't belong on the same field with miami...how miami was gonna win by multiple tds...if that was the case how does 1 play or bad call cost you the game??...we get it the call was iffy but ohio st. had one put to them in regulation where Gamble made a catch that probably ends the game, but its called incomplete, and some choose to ignore it ....just admit buckeyes were better than the media and miami and even many buckeye fans thought that year, and they kept fighting and found a way win a classic of 2 great iconic football teams.. and its ashame haters only wanna talk about the p i when there were so many plays by both sides to remember.
I hate osu but you Miami fans need to stop with the robbery. You didn’t get robbed osu should of won in regulation they incorrectly called the catch a non catch which ices the game
@Ryan Hanes If they had called defensive holding against Miami when Jenkims was running an in route late in the 4th (and it was blatant), then the Buckeyes would have been able to run out the clock in regulation and won 17-14. It was so blatant that it is virtually scandalous that it was not called.
Watch it again. Gamble is held coming out of his break. It really depends on when you look for the hold. The flag came late. It should have been thrown before the ball was even in the air.
Well, regardless of what we feel... Ohio St. wins that game because of that “ticky tack” call. Kudos to them, but Miami was clearly the more talented team...
I just hate that the PI call is all people remember. There were some bad calls and no calls in that fame. Regardless it was an incredible game and for those who watched it we all saw how dominant Ohio States defense was in that game. That’s why they won.
The Field Judge made the call, and He was in the corner of the EZ with the play less than 10 yards right in front of him. Adding to that, the receiver was his key. It was his man, his call, he made it, and it was graded correct.

Unfortunately there was no replay back then to show Gamble also had a 1st down so OSU had to win twice.
Defense was so good for Ohio state
osu was holding all game as well lol
This was a better game than Texas usc 06’
Naw!!!! That Vince Young’s show was a remarkable site to see.
💯
Right
Apples and oranges and also not important. Enjoy them both.
I’m gonna say it, that was not PI.
I hear so much bullshit about the interference call but NOOOObody wants to mention the block in the back by Miami to spring that huge punt return to put Miami in field goal range
Don’t worry Nebraska, will show you how it’s done. O-H!
5:40 because of The Pat McAfee Show
Name a game with more NFL talent
Arizona always has classic sports games. World Series Game 7 Yankees Diamondbacks, Ohio State vs Miami National Championship, Super Bowl XLII, Super Bowl XLIX Something about the desert breeds classics
And Boise State vs Oklahoma too
For the people that said it wasn’t pass interference, they also called holding if you pay attention to the ref
Still a phantom PI call🤷🏻♂️😂
ha circuit city
Welcome to the 2003 blockbuster Honolulu bowl lmaooooo!!!!
Ezekiel Glenn 😂😂😂
Totally skip the Mcgahee injury.
See you're not cheating if it's not cheating 😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉
Worst PI call in college football history.
Was this when Miami payed players
Damn these early 2000s Miami teams were just RAW. Its such a shame that Miami has never regained their form since these years. I mean even Florida State had a comeback those couple years that Winston was QB. I think its time for Miami to have a comeback one year
Yeah we won’t for a couple years but we always find a way to get ranked
After this loss Miami really hasnt won since then.
It’s a shame what became of Kellen Winslow
And they even killed themselves with turnovers
Always will be b.s. to me !!!#GoCanes
It was freaking like 17 to 16 years ago get over it
I'm good and its still b.s. so miss me buddy alright!!
@Ryan Hanes If they had called defensive holding against Miami when Jenkims was running an in route late in the 4th (and it was blatant), then the Buckeyes would have been able to run out the clock in regulation and won 17-14. It was so blatant that it is virtually scandalous that it was not called.
Yo Dorsey was some cheeks in this game
Hard to throw the ball when you're on your back.
THE Ohio State University beat the hell outta Miami allllll game long
The PI at the end should have not been called... it looked clean to me
Watch it again.
No way that was a P.I call. I remeber watching this as a kid
Silly turnovers by MIA
They Cheated MIa and Coach was dumb for trying to throw when he coudlnt hit the side of a barn. Run Payton and you tie the game
Lol "Circuit City" trophy....
Fsu fan, looking back 20 years, I just didn't see how it was pass interference... but it is what it is.
FSU Fan here, someone definitely made a phone call and the check cleared
Dorsey had an awful game
Not pass inference wasnt then still wasn’t now
Buckeyes went on to become perennial NC contenders while Miami is still trying to recover.
Yeah…contenders being the key word😂 they love to blow it every year
Ohio State has 1 legitimate national title in 50 years. Anyone who know's anything about football know's Miami got robbed.

That’s ref from the far side of end zone made that call .. if they had instant replay .. Ohio with the L
The Field Judge made the call, and He was in the corner of the EZ with the play less than 10 yards right in front of him. Adding to that, the receiver was his key. It was his man, his call, he made it, and it was graded correct.
Biggest robbery of all time
Good thing surfaces weren’t invented at the time. Ken Dorsey would have destroyed every one in sight
Miami got robbed
ohio state robbed that
I'm not a Miami fan but damn having the refs rob you like that must hurt badly 😂😂 I can't even imagine
And what's worse is that Ohio state has the most annoying fan base lol
They called holding and PI on that play. If you see the DB and WR the entire play, you’ll see there is a clear hold. I for sure agree it wasn’t PI, but either way, it’s a 1st down
Should have been over in regulation.
th-cam.com/video/i1xlg3SWDsk/w-d-xo.html
Miami still sucks..
Miami has the best college football team ever in 2001 and they got robbed in this from that PI so they should of won this in 2003.
@@Blick4 yea and look at them now
Naw Texas vs USC is.
They made sure Miami wasn’t gone win...I take that I forgot how many turnovers we had
Absolutely robbed
2:18 left in regulation.. Gamble made the catch AND was held.. the game should have been won by OSU without even going to overtime.
17 years ago get over it
@@ohiostate1629 yea ikr I have a friend that hates Ohio state because of this game. Like bruh you weren't even born yet
@@coryjohnson2486 bruh like saying if magahee didn't get hurt. Game over. Fuck this game sucked lol. OSU bullshit. Take those chips when ya can... Fields choked haaaaaa.
A lot of UM fans still hates OSU to this day because of that call but fail to realize that OSU dominated most of that game before that play.
As great as this game was nothing tops USC/Texas 05
not a miami fan by no means but Miami got screwed
Correction: Ohio State should’ve won 17-14 but the refs missed a call that would’ve given Ohio state a fresh set of downs
BS flag of peace
Lmao you can’t be serious. That was such an obvious pass interference. It’s not even controversial. Everyone know it was interference
I ate 5 whoppers on this day. Rip will smith and sean taylor. Victims of black male ego.
The game where miami was clearly robbed the championship
That was not a pi
Miami hurricanes got robbed
Bro didn’t realized Miami had a whole lot of turnovers that game! The D played well.. got screwed at the end tho
Good call
got screwed at the end. but still had another chance to score.
Yea they did but what can you do now
@@grantritter5315 funny thing is later after the game, the ref admitted that he made a mistake and shouldn’t have thrown a flag.
