    Good pointers......I rode today on Tampa bay in 25 knots of breeze on a 10m switchblade and had a blast. At times I had to de-power which gave better control edging and jumping. On my bigger jumps I need to master the heli-loop so I don’t drop like a stone. I’m down looping all my transitions which i really like, and working hard on load and pop which is coming along. My biggest hurdle is making a back-roll. I’m getting closer but frustrated. Thanks for your vids.....

    Feel vindicated about all my looping on the water when others wont go out cos of low wind. Really progressed my riding... and yeah, LOADS of fun! 🤙

      Nice spam brah... but do you even kite though?!!? 😂

    good points!!! There is a debate out there about jumping and soft landings. Your comment about redirecting the kite after the jump is very correct. What about the bar. Some say keep the bar sheeted in while landing some other say sheet out after the peek of your jump... What do you think..

    • @MACkiteboarding
      @MACkiteboarding  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I saw that debate on Blake’s last video haha. Normally I just sheet in myself. Today I actually tried his method of sheeting out a little while redirecting. I also sheeted back in right before touchdown. His method popped me a bit forward. Kind of fun. I’ve seen the effect when he rides and wondered how he did it. I think it all comes down to timing. Most vids say to sheet in because everyone sheets out too early. In that case best to sheet in. I’d say give the late sheet out a try while diving the kite. I’ll experiment more with that to see. - Rygo

    Nice video 👍 I've done lots of the mistakes you point out, but when it comes to being "overpowered" I agree in most parts and see your point... But I love being overpowered most of the time, but thats because most of my spots got big waves you need power to jump over.
    I wish I had more kites in the beginning, but since its not that cheap I've used my 10m from 8m/s to 18m/s and its awsome always.

    Awesome points, most will apply but I dont remember a day when the wind was constant. Light at first, then cranked then up and down is the story of my spot.

      Yeah I hear you on that! In my experience those places make the best kiters because you have to adapt to so much. - Rygo.

    True dat!!! Perhaps if one finds themselves afraid of loops, it wouldn't hurt to practice them on a trainer kite some more, on lighter wind says, and/or on the beach. Also they could loop the kite in a water start. I am definitely guilty of riding over powered. Gonna start to work on that!!!! Thanks for the vid!!

    I hear you on the re-direct at the end of a jump. However, when I try to do this I find that the kite generally doesn't respond very well. Probably because it is directly overhead ? It feels like it is stalled. I am beginning to experiment with sheeting in, sheeting out, etc. Any tips on that aspect and also where to begin the re-direct from, ie: overhead, past overhead, etc. I think that also there might be a bit of a fear factor and holding back involved as well because a few times I have landed (down wind fortunately) fully lit. I am searching for the happy medium. Thanks.

      It’s in your head! Past overhead and switch direction!

      Just go with the pull from wherever you redirect. I like to pull as I start coming Down. 🤟🏻

    great tips rygo! I tried some transition loops on some sessions and some of them went really well. But! Some of those loops werent that good and as a result the kite touched the water with the tip and suddenly the lines were tangled because the kite landed awekwardly. Any tips for that? It is really frustrating because i am only trying these on an onshore situation.

    • @MACkiteboarding
      @MACkiteboarding  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oof, onshore can be tough. In our spot the current will push you towards the kite. Try looping with the kite higher and pull harder so it doesn’t touch. - Rygo

      I used to be able to loop the kite on a water start but now I am unable...I guess that the 3points are resonating with me. Do you have a kitelooop tutorial? Thanks again from rainy London 😀

    • @KrissowskiM
      @KrissowskiM 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pull much harder! I can make my 13 m2 kite loop around the steering line now but initially - I wasn’t able to make it without hitting the water! Also the whole bar must be appropriately pulled in. In the beginning When I had problems I would pull with one hand and push with another. Later that’s unnecessary - you learn how to pull the whole bar in with appropriate force to make the kite loop with the right speed. You start these exercises relatively slow and once your head gets over fear - you move into a very dynamic action - as I’ve written earlier - I am capable now to turn my 13m kite almost like a trainer!

    if you are "overpowered" you should not go out, because you won't have control. "Powered" is ok though, since you still have control.

    • @MACkiteboarding
      @MACkiteboarding  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re the exception haha! Yes I agree. Once someone has good skills riding powered is fun! The idea is to help new riders focus on the fundamentals without compensating. 🙌🏻

      @@MACkiteboarding sure, I get your attempt, and you are right...if you can land tricks in light wind, you can do much more when you are powered up. But power makes tricks possible and more stylish, once you are more advanced. But we need to start at one point...we all did ;-)

    Super helpful, great timing for this, I Just went out really overpowered...I think I did everything you mention here 🤦‍♂️ended up having to self rescue. I have a NV 9 12, Solo 15.5, can you suggest a good kite for higher wind days? I'm thinking about a 9m. I'm about 180.

    • @MACkiteboarding
      @MACkiteboarding  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You want to replace your NV 9? Or did you mean you have the version 9? A 9m is a great size for stronger winds. I was always a big fan of the NV V9 myself. There are easier kite for strong winds though. Anything in the freeride or big air category will be a good option. North Orbit, Duotone Evo, Cab Switchblade, Rally GT. These will be awesome in powered winds. - Rygo
