"I feel like I'm on the inside of a snow globe." That's such a great line. We did the Viking Museum, the Fram, and Con-Tiki while we were there. We really liked the Fram if you have time to go back. -Brian

Dang, we were trying so hard to make it to all those museums, but it didn't quite work out. 😔 We'll definitely have to check out the Fram next time! -A

If you continue on the number 1 train further up the mountain, you get to a mountaintop restaurant, very traditional looking in burnt wood. There are urns of hot chocolate to keep you warm as you check the view. If you are at all interested in design, the museums in town are tremendous

Vigeland park is really cool, but if you have time, look for the vigeland chappel, it is like a small church where the whole inside is a single painting about the life cycle. Has amazing accoustics! Was designed by the brother of the dude who made the statues for the park.
The Fram museum is my personal favorite in Oslo, but overall Bygdøy is really cool!
Man, i've been to all these places, some more than once. Oslo is really a great city, but usually I just pass through on my way to mountains :)
    Thanks for taking us along!
Also, damn, I think I was the first view! :D

Trondheim is such a lovely town. If you do decide to take the tips over here, you should definitely consider splitting your time between Oslo and Trondheim, and take the train (during the day) to get to one of them. The ride is amazing, you get to see the "real" Norway and beautiful scenery.

Glad you made it to the Norsk Folkemuseum, I had particularly loved the old sweet shop, kept the kids quiet for some time. I had missed the Viking museum but if you loved that you should go to the Vasa museum once you get to Stockholm, that ship is simply amazing.

I adore Oslo! I went there on a complete whim (booked the flights on the same day as travel) for my birthday in 2015. Actually found it to be reasonably priced (I am from the UK). I think the main expensive was bottles of water, snacks, chocolate bars etc.

Tap water is a no-brainer here, so we usually say that you buy water on a bootle if you need the bootle for use, not the water. Normally most norwegian living in a distance of 1, 5 hours from the boarder go there 5-6 times a year and alcohol and candy and meet is what is most bougth.

Nice video again guys--not too much beer drinking in your Oslo ones--beer is extortionate in Scandinavia like about 15 to 20 euros for a smallish beer. Still very interesting history with the Vikings and all. Awesome scenery with the Fjords. Enjoyed your whole European adventures, how long is that since your European jaunt started--Jan ?? with the vloggers conference gig you attended. Thanks so much for all the very interesting/ entertaining movies, and enjoy being home for a while, Home, they say is where the heart lies, so chill out get your feet up, eat burgers, play ten pin bowling, drink Buds and other American pursuits. Ta very much.

Some Norwegians that live close to the Swedish border actually cross it just to get groceries as it's apparently significantly cheaper here in Sweden.

A simple asian meal would cost 150, a bigmac meny 120, a cofee from 20-40. A steak at a steakhouse 350-450. A beer at the city 65-100. In the store around 30. A sandwich 45 -100 depeding at size. A dessert 75-100. Greeting from a oslo citizen.

Ive always felt unsure about going to Oslo. I love Scandinavia but its always seemed so expensive! I will definitely be taking a trip there now thank you. Is there much history about the vikings or is it more about the modern age?

    • @ragingelch5042
      @ragingelch5042 7 ปีที่แล้ว

Both actually! The Museum of the University is well worth a visit, as well as the Munk Museum. Doesn't matter If you are into sience, art or historic stuff, it is all there!
But to be honest, the realy treasure of norway isn't its cities but the nature that surrounds them!

it is a common thing that people seem to think that vikings burried their dead in the sea on a burning boat, it is not true. They were burried in the ground, tho some people who were very wealthy, were burried down with a lot if not all their welth and either their own viking ship or a viking ship.
