That final red reminded me of the opening red in cliffs 147 break,cliff was a great player and character and I loved watching him play

Cliff came to London ontario for a pro amateur tournament last day of the tournament he ran 147 between 1990 and 92 can't remember the year kirk Steven's and Jimmy wych was also at this tournament the owner of Strokers billiards made a plack for that 147 and put it near the table it was done on table 19 and they were Dufferin tables there not bad but bce tabbles and these new ones they have for England make Dufferin tables look silly then again back in cliff's prime he could probably run a 100 on the kitchen floor with a broom stick 😉

Yeah..watched that final. Thorburn Took a battering. Davis repeated that torture by inflicting it on John Parrott 18-3 a few years later

How the game as changed.

The game has changed mainly because of the faster, thinner cloth. The balls spread out more on the thinner cloth and games end faster because it's easier to get a century break. They did this to keep ratings high after several of the matches ended in the early hours in the 80s.
