  • Tony Knowles is tracked down in Bowness-on-Windermere as he prepares for the 2011 Q School.
    Fondly remembered as snookers very own Casanova from the games heyday in the 1980's, Tony Knowles was also one of the most fluent and stylish players of his era as this collection of archive footage highlights. If you have any Knowelsy footage or memorabilia to trade or even if you'd just like to share your very own TK memories then please get in touch.

    I'm guessing he only said he was going to cue school, to get a bit of publicity for his pub...

    Total legend from a great era. So sad we all have to get old. My sisters were mad on him back in the day. A real heart-throb. 😢

    He was really fast! A fantastic cue action as well. Should have been much more successful but he seems like he has an amazing life so he couldn't have done that much wrong.

      He's had quite a turbulent retirement actually Paul despite the picture painted in this feature. My book about him documents it all in case you're interested.

      @@gareth110777 hi Gareth, yes mate I am. I didn't mean to but I'm amassing quite a good snooker book collection and I really like Tony Knowles, he's a part of the golden era of snooks. Do you have a website or is it on amazon? 🤔

    No characters at all in snooker today
    1980s was best time for sport, so many characters i remember as a kid, like you all do.
    White working class heroes are no-more in england, or in white countries.

    They keep saying former world #2 but didn't he get to #1 briefly?

    • @gareth110777
      @gareth110777  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      He was provisional (i.e. mid-season) number 1 at the end of 1983/ beginning of 1984 but that never counted as an official position like it does nowadays. Same thing happened to Jimmy White a decade later so again he was also never an official World number 1 even though he did briefly top the provisional list.
