  • Watch as I repot, and try and rehab this 70 YEAR OLD Aspidistra elatior! See the entire process as gets a proper planty spa day, and lots of TLC.
This poor old gal has been chopped about a bit over the years by the looks of things, as I would have expected a much bigger plant. A great result in the end, I have high hopes of it returning to its former glory!

One of the BEST plant care I have seen in a long time, very informative. Thanks

I have two Aspidistra plants, one from each of my Grandma's. They were both well established when I was a little girl so both are at least 80 years old. They are both in their original Victorian style pots. One is doing fine. The other looks a bit poorly so I have taken note of the excellent information and will now proceed to repot him(or her). Keeping my fingers crossed.

I've saved quite a few house plants that have had old compacted soil, Two ZZ Plants that are now doing much better with lots of new fonds and a big Ficus Elastica that is making progress. I had to give it a prune as well. I've also rescued lots of Pothos and made new plants from cuttings but I desperately need some long moss poles which seem to be hard to find.

I have a couple of these. One is a rescue and the other is what I bought new. I wonder what happened to you yours. I noticed the soil was a bit powdery when removed from the pot and probably a bit of the dry side. It looked like the leaves were a little sunburnt too?

I think it had been neglected for years and years, the soil was very compacted indeed. Happy to say it’s putting out new growth now the weather’s warmed up! 😁
