- It’s here! Welcome to the place I call home in NYC! In the past, I would’ve wanted to wait to do a tour until everything was fully decorated and finished. But now, I think it’s important to show how I’m living in a space that’s a work in progress. In today’s world, it can be easy to get caught up in the idea of living in a perfectly decorated home. I’ve experienced this many times and it would send me into a spiral of impatience and comparison. What I’ve learned is, I was never present for the actual process of having a space come together. This is the first time I’ve been present for all of it: the good, the frustrating, and the boring. And you know what? I think it’s a pretty magical thing to love something that isn’t perfect.

WEEKLY UPDATE: This week has been filled with LOTS of changes on the decor front. I’ve decided to focus on one area at a time and the office/guest room is the first to get a makeover. I’ve ordered a new desk, a wall sconce, and shelving. Chairs also arrived and wallpaper just went up yesterday. It feels so good to see some progress because it makes me excited AND helps me practice patience. It can be hard waiting for things to come together, especially when deliveries are drawn out and it takes time to make decisions. But this week has made me realize that there is a payoff to thoughtfulness and patience. There’s still a lot of work to be done, but it’s looking like the office might be finished in the next couple weeks. That’s a small victory to celebrate for sure. ❤️

Hi Ingrid! OG subscriber here (like 7 years !). I adore you, always have, always will - even though I'm one of those subscribers who rarely comments, but I feel like this is important. My comment is coming from a deep place of respect and love and appreciation for all the things you've taught me and showed me and inspired me with over the years. I gotta be honest, I've been feeling quite underwhelmed by the recent content. I feel like you're (probably rightfully so) very guarded about your day-to-day life and world. This tour was a combination of closely shot spaces with no overview of the place, we haven't had a career or life update: how are you actually doing? I've regretfully been skipping some of your recent videos because I feel like I haven't gotten any real oomph or depth from you. Again using that word but you seem incredibly guarded, and it's become harder and harder to feel connected to you and what you're creating. I don't know, might just be me, but you feel far away and disconnected right now, and I hope you still enjoying doing this. Big big hug from Toronto x
F Dombrowski I feel much the same. In my opinion, Ingrid is such a bright spark with so much intelligence, creativity and potential. But I just don’t see her having a space in TH-cam anymore. I wish she would move into more traditional media or pursue something different in media, advertising, or something else entirely. I feel like one is either ‘in’ TH-cam - committed to the intimacy of sharing oneself and one’s life - or they aren’t. But Ingrid has been trying to straddle this line of sharing and withholding, of creating these highly stylised and sterile videos that can look pretty but feel so lacking in depth, that I feel a bit sad watching them.

Just watched a 20 minute apartment tour but still have no idea how the place actually looks like xD
Watching Ingrid ever since her first year on TH-cam I always get a bittersweet feeling whenever she uploads. I remember her first apartment and how in love I was with it that I wanted to find a similar one(havent got any apartment at all myself). I remember nugget first days and the apartments that came after-or at least the ones we got to see. So I was very happy to see this video but realizing how much the TH-cam community and content has changed in general, how much criticism you might get for anything you post, how much more careful of yourself you've got to be.. it makes me sad. Also I'm realizing how much time has passed and I feel so old. So so old. Lol

Me too! I actually get really bummed out now when I watch her videos, but because I have been watching for SO LONG, I can't bear to stop. I probably should, though. I live in NYC, and this kind of content ends with me putting unfair pressure on myself to live this kind of lifestyle and question myself mercilessly "why isn't my apartment bigger?" "Why don't I make more money?" even though I do quite well already. I miss the days when my favorite youtubers were relatable, and I think thats something I need to let go of, because it is absurd for me (and for most of us) to demand of myself (ourselves) the same lifestyle of a millionaire who is part of the 1% (which is great for her! She has worked so hard!).

queeneva3 Your comment is so spot-on that it made my heart hurt because you placed my feelings into words. TH-cam has changed so much that it's depressing, and if you didn't change your content to match the "new TH-cam" then your channel got left behind in the dust. So many channels that have millions of subscribers get hardly any views or ads to help them make money. I wish we could go back to TH-cam 6+ years ago. I feel SO old now thinking about how many years have actually passed since the old TH-cam was around.

I think it is for privacy. It would be fairly easy to figure out where this is considering that generally Brooklyn has small apartments and this in a newer larger apartment. I live in the area she lives in and the apartments are very unique and searchable.

I get why ur secretive about a lot of things since ur name has became so popular, just really miss that closeness u had with ur fans. I think in your effort to have more of a balance between your private/public life, you’ve lost your sense of being relatable. I get not wanting to fully share your space but you’ve become so detached from your audience that is almost just feels like one giant commercial for the products you have in your apartment.
I feel like it's a really sanitized version of her personality. Like if someone were running for office, this is the version you would see of them online. No vulnerability or connection. I get that for some people it is difficult to open up, but viewers come to TH-cam to connect with the people they watch.
It's interesting because I've found Ingrid's stories on Instagram much more relatable than her TH-cam content, even though she's uploading videos on both platforms.

yeah this is why i actually unsubbed a few years ago. i felt like it was repetitive and i decided to check out her channel to see what she was up too and i can totally see where you are coming from as i am assuming a current viewer. i'm kind of disappointed to be honest because she used to be SO relatable and funny to watch, seems watered down now. idk her current situation thought if something happened in her life or what not, but i hope she is doing okay.
I love Ingrid, but I have to agree. Apartment/house tours are my absolute favorite videos to watch, but we hardly got to see any of the actual decor. And she's always done nice tours in the past. Just kinda disappointing. :( I don't know what would be in a house that would be so personal you don't want to show it? I mean, aside from like... sex toys...which would probably be safely hidden in a drawer any way, hahaha! ;P

It's sad how Ingrid has more than 3M subscribers but her views doesn't even go higher than 300k. She is the very first TH-camr I watched and liked. Her relatable personality is what I used to love. But I'm just sad. I don't watch her videos anymore lately because I don't feel the same love and connection. Take a break, Ingrid. It's okay. We miss your cheerful personality.

I used to love your videos Ingrid and I understand that for privacy reasons you don't want to show the whole apartment layout but all this excessive zooming/focus gave me a headache! :(

I appreciate the idea of having your phone away from your bed, for sleep. But I recommend placing it away from the front door. If an intruder comes in the front door they are at an immense advantage with you being unprepared and now also without a phone. Consider the phone in maybe the bathroom near your room or in a more hidden area outside of the bedroom. Just food for thought. Love the space and your positive attitude

This was.... an awkward video. I was hoping for so much more. You showed us a door knob..... It doesn't feel connected. I didn't get the feeling of connecting with you. You have become more closed off from you subscribers and we miss it. That is why we watch....

How can someone find you by showing the INSIDE of your house? She didn't have to show the entrance or the view of the neighborhood. Hundreds of youtubers do house tours that actually show the house and had no problems with stalkers.

Personally, I LOVED this style of apartment tour. It felt raw and messy and just fresh. It wasn’t super saturated or overly energetic to the point of feeling fake, like a lot of videos are now. It was a good change of pace, and felt more relatable in a lot of ways, because although the products and space themselves are probably high end and expensive, it wasn’t complete, and it just felt natural and human. The place is beautiful, Ingrid, and i love seeing you so happy in this new chapter of your life. I can’t wait to see how the final product turns out!!
So much for an apartment tour! Don’t think I even saw the apartment but I did see flowers, counter tops, coffee maker, frigid, couch, some nick nacks, and the toilets. If safety is an issue don’t tease an apartment tour. Just do a “You want to see a stuff tour”.

I think I understand why she didn’t show the full floor plan. I know one of the Fowler sisters had people showing up to her condo a few years back. They found out where she lived by searching the floor plan online after she did a condo tour video. This filming style let us see the main feel, and awesomeness,of Ingrid’s apartment but keeps her safe.

That was a really bad apartment tour, don't actually have any idea of what the apartment looks like. I suggest renaming this video to maybe something like "little glimpses of my new apartment". It'd be great if you're looking for furniture ideas, but yeah for interior design or layout interests its not good at all.
I know NYC apartments are typically small, so it may not have been possible to back up more or give us a better bigger picture, but I really prefer tours where they don’t cut the in-between walking or at least so a brief walkthrough in the beginning before showing us each room... to me it makes it less confusing about where each room is. A lot of this vid was filmed super close up instead. Just my personal preference :) but thank you for sharing this with us! The place looks beautiful from what I can tell!

I was a huge fan of Ingrid's vlogging channel back when she had moved into her cute little 1 bedroom apartment in Santa Monica. Her tours and other content were so entertaining! Eventually she changed, which is understandable - people grow and change all of the time. Her videos now just seem cold, like she no longer enjoys making videos. I could be totally wrong though, and I wish her so much happiness in New York! I check back in every year or so, hopefully one day the spark will return.
I probably don't wanna know how much an appartment of this size in NYC costs.
That's all I could think about, but considering the locations she lived in LA it may be comparable to her rent here. I hope she invests well, but I'm thinking she must.

TH-cam! You tubers get like $1-5 per 1,000 views and she gets millions per video so do the math! Plus ads also provide income as well as speaking engagements and ad sponsors for products! She’s also an ambassador for brands which also brings in income!

I will be probably the first person to say that I actually liked this video :) I don't care if you show the room as a whole and then more in detail, or if you focus just on the details for whatever reason (privcy or your apartment not being completely finished).. It is so nice to have your own place and put in it the things you love, I call that a home. My mom lives with me and it is really hard to have things the way you want them when there's another person who keeps changing it. Enjoy it, glad it makes you happy.

And FYI I’m not even a big fan of Ingrid, I wasn’t dying for a apt tour vid. But I saw this and remembered the first 2 NYC apt tour videos she made and thought, “oh maybe this would be what it says it is just like last time: a fucking Apartment Tour video.”

You are very lucky. The finishes of your apartment, from the door knobs, the bathroom fixtures, the marble backsplash, and the Gagneau fridge all indicate that this is not exactly a typical apartment. I hope you are enjoying it and are deserving of it which you seem to be.
Hi Ingrid! Beautiful appartement! I noticed that you have the Swiffer and just wanted to say that in Germany (I live there) there used to be several cases where pets have died from the chemicals of the tissues by Swiffer simply by licking theirs paws. I would recommend you to not use there tissues but use a more natural detergent from an irganic brand to clean your floors. Best wishes :)
This! Be careful, it's happened here in the States as well.
At the cat rescue where I volunteer we clean everything with one part household bleach to 32 parts water. It's diluted enough to be safe but strong enough to kill things like ringworm, etc. I would recommend that solution to anyone who has pets and wants a really clean house.

I never comment but I really appreciate this. I just made a big move myself & thought that I had to buy all of these things to complete it. And this just helped me realize that I don't need to do that. I can take my time. Love the apartment Ingrid!
I hardly thinking giving an overview of each individual room would give away the floor plan enough to allow creeps to locate where she lives. This was pretty frustrating to watch - just a montage of tight frame product shots. If you want your space to remain so private, why make an “apartment tour” video at all

Hey Ingrid, I understand why you did not show your whole apartment, but maybe you could have done individual room tours. That way the clips would not be so zoomed in (which was kind of uncomfortable to watch), but you could still retain some privacy by not having to show every room or hallway.
Also! Will you be doing a video about the process of moving? like more a sit down one talking about finding an apartment, boroughs, movers all that stuff? It might be helpful to a lot of people moving from far, especially because it kinda looks like you pulled it off well, so I would love tips :)

This was NOT an apartment tour?! It was like weird zoom ins on certain products that happen to be in your apartment but as the background beyond the products was mostly super blurry I have no actual concept of your apartment - layout etc?
I would have liked to see an overview of the apartment. You showed us some pieces of furniture but I have no idea where they are located in the house neither the relative positions of the rooms etc. You said that you want to keep your bedroom private and that's totally understandable, but it seemed to me that you wanted to keep the entire house private. And that's totally understandable as well! But in that case I don't get the point of this video. In my opinion a house tour is not about what we keep in our fridge, it's about the house itself. Anyway, I really hope you enjoy the new house and that you create beautiful memories there!

Probably her building has a porter and a lobby with a reception area, she has the money to live in a very secure building. This is not the usual anyone can walk up to the elevator and go up and knock on anybody's door.
I love how you showed an in-progress tour. Moving is so hectic so I appreciate that you showed what your space looks like as you are getting settled rather than showing it once it was picture perfect. Good luck getting everything unpacked and settled!

For the top shelf of the fridge, a lazy Susan makes it easier to reach items because nothing gets shoved to the back out of reach. Just spin and grab.
I agree with a lot of people, this felt more like a "things I bought" video rather than an apartment tour. Which is cool, but I would have loved to see a more zoomed out video at the end. I understand it's a work in progress so maybe once its finished you can show a little more.
Wow! My apartment in FiDi is 900 sq feet closet and feels like a dump compared to this. Lol! I wonder where she got such a spacious apartment here in the city. I'm assuming she's probably in Brooklyn. Nice place and I'm so jealous of that fridge.
As an interior design student furniture pieces and decor items are popping my my mind which I feel would be perfect for this space!

A cafetière aka French press is the best way to make tasty coffee. You can get insulated ones now and you should always pour hot water in to warm the vessel and pour it out before brewing the coffee.
Plus you can brew the coffee and pour it into a vacuum flask after pressing.
Oh, Ingrid! I'm so glad you were able to move cross-country with your dad's painting. When I moved to the West Coast a year ago, I had to leave my mother's paintings behind with family. Did the movers pack them in a special way, or did you ship them?

Have you tried filling your French press with nearly boiling water and letting it sit for five mins before making your coffee? If not, I would highly recommend! You can also preheat your mug the same way 🙌
Here is a coffee maker, here is a floor, here is a basic bathroom with an air mattress and door knob. Idk how this shit popped up in my feed but this makes me hate the internet.

Hey Ingrid. Per Vaastu/Feng shui you should get rid of broken mirrors as soon as possible. This is to avoid the risk of further injury. There is also a superstition to not view yourself in a broken mirror. Hope you aren’t actively using it and will be getting rid of it. Ily! And I care about you!
