- Gotta say, it's a poor idea, but a sick science fair project.

"GET OUT OF MY LABORATORY DEE DEE"
Parents banishing their kids to the back shed with explosives is how a kid in my 8th grade class lost 3 of his fingers.
"learning is never cheap nor easy."
- some famous person I can't remember
That mug was my exact reaction.
Oh I was so scared I didn’t think he would live I was just sitting there with the same face as the mug
According to Wikipedia he died in 2016 from a drug overdose. His obituary is still viewable.
@@spiwolf6998to add onto that I think it’s alleged he got something from the radiation exposure so he decided to go out on his own terms
He was only sentenced to 90 days in jail, but unfortunately died due to alcohol poisoning at 39. Some speculate that the reactor contributed to his death, although I doubt it. After the government threw away his work, he became depressed and, like many unfortunate souls, fell into drugs (he was on fentanyl and diphenhydramine at the time of his death). Rest easy, David Hahn.
I mean, I made nitroglycerin for the first time when I was 13. But... yeah, I never had the balls for that type of shit 😬
Yeah, this is more "willing to go to any length to play with fire" than "super smart science kid genius"
I think he got pretty nasty radiation poisoning, if it's the nuclear boy scout I'm thinking of
@samuelmellars7855 yeah I believe he did if I remember right. I've always thought it was kinda crazy that he was able to just get the stuff he needed for that, but hey I have a chunk of uranium ore (that is very well secured within a led lined box) so I guess it hasn't really changed much.
@@samuelmellars7855Wikipedia says he died in September of 2016 at the age of 39 from the combined effects of alcohol, diphenhydramine, and fentanyl. He also suffered schizophrenia.
I love chemistry and it’s kind of funny how easy it is to purchase restricted chemicals. I don’t do hardcore backyard chemistry through because I don’t want to get myself killed.
@JosephsDesign me too lmao. I've actually almost killed myself when I was younger with homemade rocket fule. And then again, more recently, with a big elemental bromine spill lol
Real life Dr. Cooper 🤣
My high school chemistry teacher tried to do this on acid once when he was in his 20s. Not out of malice, just curiosity. He stole a ton of exit signs and took them apart. Then he sobered up 😅 no idea why he told that story, but he was a great teacher for a very complex subject. Once he lit a ring of fire (very controlled, lasted like 2 seconds. Not even sure it was fire just very bright and sudden) around a sleeping student. Legend. ❤
Well, that was an interesting story
He decided his booms werent big enough, NOT WHAT I HEARD O.O
I agree with the child, that is an amazing idea, and i will copy him
And there we have the difference between intelligence and wisdom.
Ah, that sweet spot age where a genius kid can do just about anything they want to, but their frontal lobe is not telling them it's actually a bad idea. haha
Isn't that just every cartoon character ever? 😅
Nice to see kids playing outside. This is what parents and grandparents are longing for when they tell kids to get off the damn phone and go play outside. Kids those days....😅
Sheldon Lee Cooper?
This is my favorite cup so far
Jimmy nutron
I immediately thought of Phineas and Ferb
another banger mug.
This kids story is in a book-the Boy Who Played With Fusion
I would've so been friends with that guy if I knew him 😂😂
The goofy ahh mug… I NEED IT ACK
the full story gets worse...
Wdym?
@@eksprolek2924 he died of radiation poisoning (allegedly) after purportedly continuing his experiments
Got that "Um actually," mug
high intelligence, critically low wisdom
Goofy mug…💀 I LOVE IT SO MUCH THO
Sounds like a mix of dexter and sheldon
Ferb I know what we’re gonna do today!
BANISHED TO THE SHAD...
sorry... SHED
I don't think smart = common sense sometimes.
Sheldon copper
FlintLOCKwoood!
Yoooo, we have the same glasses. Mine are 'gun metal grey' and might be a touch smaller than yours but still, neat!
Young Sheldon? Is that you?
the funniest part about this is that he made the reactor for an Eagle Scout badge/award. he's the reason they removed the nuclear science option 😂
I've watched like 4 of these.
I couldn't tell you a single word you've said and I don't mean that rudely. These mugs are incredible and my mind melts.
Sounds like some voices of the void shit
Young Sheldon did that 😭
I think I remember this plot from Young Sheldon
Oh my gosh, he’s the kid who applied to MIT and got rejected!!! My mom had me read an article about how “even a genius like this kid missed the mark; but that means someone who isn’t as smart but is better in other ways can do things too!!” To help me feel better about college or whatever??? Now I see why he was denied lol kid was a criminal
Jimmy Neutron type shit.
You know the name “Neutron” really fits with this story given neutrons play a very vital role in creating a nuclear reaction.
A real life Jimmy Neutron.
when is the shop coming back online?
Ive heard this story before
my idol
Isn’t there a young Sheldon episode about this
These Eagle Scout projects are getting out of hand
Could u make a capricorn cup I always see moenter need a capricorn always waterhorses
Of course it was a boy scout
Anyone else hear “boobs” not “booms”?
Why were they red?
Did he get anything working?
yes.
He had a successful neutron source. He wanted to make a breeder reactor but the radiation output from the source was already concerning and he tried to get rid of it. He had a police stop on the way and warned them of the radioactive material he had in his car, which led to the investigation and cleanup. David Charles Hahn if you want to look him up.
Okay I'll admit, it annoys me when people call dangerous people like this "genius" because it kinda implies safety and social/self awareness aren't the result of intelligence....
Like no offense, but a monkey could make a bomb.
But it takes a human mind to decide whether or not that bomb SHOULD be made based on the situation and concepts like morality.
If you're smart enough to cause a problem but not smart enough to figure it out or just not do it then you're kinda stupid.
Not ignorant, _stupid._
Idk if anyone else gets annoyed by that, but I do. 🤷♀️
I'll argue!
he's not a genius. just because he could read a chemistry text and had motivation enough to try and try again didn't make him a genius.
a genius wouldn't accidentally blow a hole in the tent!
don't wait to be taught everything.
take some initiative and experiment (explore)
🙁
