I had the privilege to study with Gary at the JISA Music Festival in Canada back in ‘88. His expression and tone were always something to aspire towards. A generosity of spirit that is very humbling. Glad to hear his playing is as vibrant and inspiring as I remember! Hope to see you again soon, my friend
Wonderful performance. For me, the closing section seems to express a sense of determination as well as the mournful pleading I usually hear and it works superbly. Bravo!
Alex Sztoica he likes the clarity of one finger, the vibrato of the 2nd finger, and bringing out the transitions of notes as their own expressive element
@@bmodextreme i understand that and i agree that the second finger has more power because it is used more often. In my vision/opinion any string player(especially the doublebass, because it has become more aknowledged as a solo instrument) should be able to use each finger with the same dexterity and elegance so you wont have to overuse one shift or finger and you can play and express with more colors.
Gary Karr becomes white rather than gray hair. His rendition is sad rather than elaborate and mature. He also knows well the truth that art is forever but life is short. One day one virotoso will perish in vain without any word.....
One of the world's greatest double bass players. What a joy to hear. May he continue to play for many more years.
Paul Hart
think he’s got at least three hearts, so beautiful. And his tone is twice as beautiful hearing it live
Garry Karr, one of the best double bass players in the world. I appreciate his Kol Nidrei through my tubeamp sound. Thanks from S. Korea!
Großartiger Meister!

Alex Sztoica if you get the course he does clean 2 8ve vibrato scale with each finger
it’s purpose is to mimic the voice of a singer
