First timer to your channel. Saffa here. I always appreciate balanced humour with a great strategic brain. Also, some BR World Cup winners will disagree with you on the AR comment. That said, I’ve subscribed and look forward to some great content sir.
Great breakdown. The rest of the world doesn't appreciate the type of rugby the Boks are playing. They think rugby is only running the ball (Like rugby union), but they tend to forget the details and the beauty of defence.
As a saffer, thanks for a good laugh. You got some of it right, but you missed a key point. We turned defense into attack. Watch closely and you will notice that often the team with the ball goes backwards in successive phases. So when you panic and force the pass we pounce and go score.
We are now seeing Leinster take that same defence and turn it into attack through J Nienabar. Its amazing to see Leinster with such a high missed tackle count, yet have least conceded trys in the URC so far. The shooters out of the defensive line to put a hit in on the ball carrier and other runners blocking the passing channel seems to be the perfect defensive recipie. I am sure that as we near the end of the URC season, and head into the later stages of the European Cup we will see some of the best teams attempt clever ways of bypassing the rush defense, chip over the top for example, or pinpoint accurate back field kicks for another. This will bring us some top class matches to watch as fans im hoping.
Enjoyed this - keep going! One point: Maybe a bit unfair to simply describe Springboks' "before-Rassie" as being nowhere? The Bokke under Nick Mallet had a (at the time world record breaking) 17-test winning streak, from August 1997 to December 1998 - that saw impressive wins (Tri-Nations) and a standing ovation from the Paris crowds following a 52-10 trouncing of FRA, and 80-odd point thrashing of WAL… That's not to deny that "before-Rassie" had eras of absolute torrid, clueless, one-dimensional rugby (see Rudolf Straueli, Allister Coetzee etc. etc.) - but rather that, as with almost everything in life, it was a bit more nuanced and complex than a simple division into BR/AR periods.
The opening BR - AR phrase is only valid for like 2 years BR when we experimented with a more expansive game and got the arrogance beaten out of us… before that we were doing the job quite well
You’re so funny but I like your analysis for the game PSDT now we have his brother Thomas plus Ox Nche am not sure where to report this I have my two favourite rugby teams one boy being my biological son and the other adopted but still love them both the same AB and BOKKE I know I will die a happy happy mother.🇿🇦🇳🇿🥰
How can you say that the bokke weren't good before Rassie? They already had 2 world cup wins before Rassie. He just took them to another level entirely. And yes, without a doubt the Springboks are the best in the world. Not even close.
VIVA AMABOKBOKKE...WE ARE THE BEST...WE STAND ALONE X 4 TIMES AND BACK TO BACK CHAMPS...ABSOLUTE NONSENSE WE WE ALWAYS KNOWN AS A FORMIDABLE TEAM AND RUTHLESS
The Boks led the ABs in tests from 1928 until 1996. They won the NZ series in 1928, the ABs won their first series against the Boks in 1996. Is it your arithmetic that's deficient or are you just delusional?
We did. During the entire amateur era, South Africa was without any question the most dominant team in the world. No team, not even the All Blacks, had a positive winning record against the Boks.
You had a losing record to the Springboks at every point in the first 80 years of this rivalry (1921-2000). You’ve only been the better team for about 18 years out of the 103 years we’ve been playing each other (2000-2018), so sit down.
0:33 "you cant put a finger on whos the best in the world" ?? Really?? This is as equivalent as saying Antoinne du Kak is the best player in the world (he hasnt achieved anything significant)
@@Lesssvav There was just 1 try in the final, Beauden Barrett's late try and the one that was disallowed. And there is no trophy for the team who scores the most tries, it's about the team that can find a way to win. Which the boks do better than any other team at the moment. 🤷
I don't know what match you watched, but the world cup final only featured one try and one disallowed try; the try that was scored was an outflow of the attacking advantage gained by the disallowed try. So had the original try been given, the second one would not have been scored in the same phase of play. Also, defense isn't just a case of tries being scored. It also encapsulates not awarding penalties vs winning penalties at the breakdowns.
Ireland are the best at what exactly, the whole point of a World cup is to prove you're the best. Ireland never even got the smallest chance to participate in a final yet they're being praised like they revolutionised rugby. BS.
Ireland has made a major mark on the game in the last few years. Rugby has been absolutely dominated - and I mean DOMINATED - by the traditional powerhouses. It's SA and NZ first, followed by Australia, England and France. So while more than a hundred countries have rugby teams, it's just those five countries that have featured in world cup finals and they dominate the semi final spots too - never has there been a world cup where there has been less than three of those five teams to make to the semi final. Argentina breaking into semi final spots with regularity (first in 2007, then 2015, then 2023) is a massive achievement and their ascent in the past decade and a half just grows their legacy. What about Ireland? Non traditional powerhouse beat the All Blacks in a home series win, achieved #1 ranking in 2019. Held that ranking from again in 2022 and held it for a year. So yeah, for a team that is outside the exclusive Club Of Five, their achievements are monumentous.
@@thenomad47 they have beaten the boks 3 times out of 4. Including at the world cup head to head. The world cup is NOT designed to find the world's best. It is designed to find the world cup winner. Its format is not for finding the worlds best. Its just a competition everyone plays in.
