I am again humbled by the generosity of people like you who take their time to take people like me on this tour. As an avid history buff, I love being able to see these places since I will probably never have the opportunity to visit.
I once thought that I would never get to visit England. I’ve been four times now and I’ve seen most of the historical places i wanted to visit. Never say never!
Been visiting Penshurst Place for 50 years. It holds a very special place in my heart and that of my family. I used to love the old tea room within the house, which had a multitude of copper jelly molds and pans etc on the wall. You really must go back to see the toy museum. It’s absolutely wonderful and is probably one of the reasons that I have been a miniaturist all my adult life 💕
My cousin lives in Penshurst. Across the road from Penshurst Place. We’ve wandered across the fields for many walks. One of my favourite villages to holiday in when I visit the UK. Have even seen Viscount Sidney wondering the grounds.
Just when i think I can't be any more amazed at all the beauty that is in every nook and cranny of Great britain you post another video that makes me fall even more in love with your beautiful country! Thank you SO very much for all you guys do to bring these videos to us across the world!! I don't know that I'll ever get the chance to visit but if not, your videos are the next best thing. Thank you again, with all my heart! Btw, the background music you chose was wonderful!!
Thank you for the lovely comment. It is a beautiful place to visit, not only the estate but the village as well. So pleased you appreciated the music we spend a lot of time finding the right track. 😊
Good video - I remember visiting as a child in the early 70's with my Grandparents who lived nearby.... The occasional flickering memory came into play!
Well you two never disappoint, what a lovely place and those gardens.....Im always awed by the amount of hedging in overseas gardens. Thanks again for sharing such beautiful places with us. ❤ cheers Cheryl
Good morning from a rainy morning in Southeast Texas. Love all the historical information along with the walkabout. What a beautiful place. The gardens were quite delightful too.
@@MemorySeekers We did get 5 to 7 inches of rain when Hurricane Beryl recently blew through the area. That said, Texas tends to have a more tropical climate with hot, humid weather so rain is always welcome.
Spectacular! Penshurst Place is really beautiful both inside & out! The furnishings are very unique & so opulent! Just beautiful! The Gardens are truly breathtaking, with such a diverse array of unusual foliage, plants & flowers! Delightful! The Chapel is also very beautiful! So rustic & charming! As well as, the quaint Village & the cute wee Garage there. Your filming, footage & Commentary is outstanding as always! Thank you for sharing this truly unique & wonderful place! Blessings to you both!
Really wonderful tour, guys! This is the kind of place where you want to get there when they open, and be the last one to leave. I can just imagine the sun setting behind those towers. Gardens are fabulous! I love the Heraldry garden and the Union Jack. And all of the arches of pink fluffy roses everywhere. Great summary of what is clearly a significant and complex history. Awesome job as always! Cheers! :)
Absolutely, a full day is easy to spend here. We didn’t walk through all the parkland around the estate. Coming back to a pint in the pub or a dinner is a great end to a day in the countryside.
The beautiful gardens, the amazing architecture, the rich history are all served well by your fabulous narration and filming. Truly enjoyable! Thank you so much!
Wonderful amazing. Thank you for the opportunity to see this beautiful place. And only a days horse ride from London. lol. Really enjoyed this visit. Hugs and many blessings. ❤
Hello Simon / Will , this was fantastic beautiful place so much to see and the perfect weather, I was amazed how quiet it was there , not many people walking around . Top class video thank you.
I think Penshurst is the only important “stately home” around in Tudor times that still retains its central fireplace, most had new wall fireplaces with chimneys installed over the later centuries. This hall is used a lit in films. I think the Wolfhall scene with Cromwell and Norfolk talking at an open fire was probably shot here.
1 more that I had unfortunately missed on my several visits to the Old Dart in former days. Interesting history and beautifully kept gardens. 1 of the few that might have impressed me more was the Generalife Gardens at Granada's Alhambra in Spain.
Wow, just wow! I watched the Isle of Skye two-parter and subscribed. This is the third video I've watched, and it's unbelievable - it could easily supersede a big budget production from one of the mainstream channels. The attention to detail and overall professionalism is very, very impressive.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We do make a big effort to produce quality videos, which does take time but comments like this make it worthwhile. All the best and hope you enjoy some of our others.
You took me back to my childhood visits, thank you! Did you know that there's a place nearby called Withiam (I think that's the spelling) where the Blue Peter donkey and baby lived. The children's TV series adopted the donkey and the baby was used to educate watchers of the programme about babies' development.
I think this has to be one of your best productions Simon! The History was so interesting and flowed beautifully. My husband says how you tie it all together, the stills with video is pure craftsmanship and takes a huge amount of effort. Does look like a beautiful place & we would have def gone there had I known about it when we were in Kent. But, at least I can enjoy it now, as far away as I am in Tasmania. 2 gardens worth a visit - Hestercombe in Somerset near Taunton & it's not far from the Quantocks & coast should you fancy a weekend away, then in S Devon at Kingswear, another Gertrude Jekyll & Lutyens delight with an amazing series of gardens falling over the cliffs, although it's NT, so I'm not sure filming is an option... Overbecks near Salcombe, that's NT :( The Garden House at Buckland Monachorum is worth a visit & used to have a good cafe. That's private I believe, oh yes, & down in Cornwall, we did visit Trerice, Nr Newquay, but that's NT, too... Oh dear! Anyway - Happy Travels and thanks for taking us to all these lovely places - I think it made hubby very home sick...
Thank you for all the lovely information. So kind to take the time to note them all down. I will certainly make notes of the places on our travel map! 😊
This was striking, how could have I missed and never visited this place and the village having being driving in the area for some years!!! Top on my list for the next visit to the UK ))
