Aw yesterday Peter struggled holding back tears at the church and today Mary is crying like a baby.. .even though I feel yalls strong love for one another regularly its sweet when you two randomly occasionally mirror one another:)
That video made me feel like I was flying. Ollie was so happy to see you. Tears and all from both of you I think you had a good trip aside from laying your friend to rest.Thats never easy.
Only ever been in the Boston airport twice (on each end of a 2-week trip), and the last time was 9 days before 9/11 - we just barely squeaked by in time to miss it! It was an incredible 2 weeks with our grandparents (it was our grandparents, my parents, and us kids), and my mom made sure to teach us about the history of and around the revolutionary war before we went - I still remember Plymouth Rock, Plymouth Plantation, Paul Revere's house, the Old North Church, Mystic Seaport, Old Ironsides, the Freedom Trail (and the water tower at the end of it), and Mount Washington, to name just a few (if I had been older, I probably would have remembered more than I do, but I was only 7).
Oh Boston! That is where my daughter and 3 grandchildren, ages 4, 9 and 11, are. I haven´t seen them since Aug of 2019. Grandma misses her grandkids! Beautiful skyline pictures of Boston. I am so sad about the pandemic roaring back again. Such willful ignorance and disdain for human life makes me shudder and take the news in small controlled doses. My son the respiratory therapist in Charlotte says conditions are terrible for staff and unsafe for patients. My advise. as a retired RN, is to make sure you have family, an advocate, with you all the time you have to be in a hospital.
Just a side note...nothing to do with Boston. I am in love with red, orange or yellow peppers with cream cheese and everything bagel seasoning!!!! It is so good that I think about it often and begin to crave it. Wow MARY! How did you ever come up with that? Soooooo good!! Thanks for sharing that! Love you, Grandma Debbie
Yay for wonderful memories in Boston and outside of Boston. My dog goes crazy with excitement if we are gone for a few days. She has to check that all family members came home. I hope you are settling back into Durham with warm weather!
It's nice to be back in your home town again so many emotions and memories. Thanks for sharing your fight I liked seeing the planes wings open up and then land. I grew up in San Diego California I lived on a little called Grove ST I lived three from age three to age seventeen. I have yet to go back my memories of my childhood me roller skating and playing tv tag with my friends. You're pets are so happy you're back and as all ways I see yall tomorrow god bless.
I remeber a video where Mary was in the hospital and Peter went to primark to shop for her. I don't remeber if he video called her or sent her photos, but it was a way for her to shop from her hospital room. What a great guy!
Our cats greet us at the door. Especially my son's cat Puppy, she's the youngest 3 yo. And when my son goes out she sits at the door waiting for him and sometimes still cries for him.
As someone that uses a handicapped placard I would recommend you still get one. We never know when we might need it. I try not to use mine all the time, but some days I'm simply in too much pain not to use my placard.
Mary! You need to stop tearing up during these videos. My eyes get leaky when you get watery eyes. :) I heard that very song today and it made me think of you. So glad you are doing so well even though there are still hard days. Glad you had such a great short trip to Boston. And made it home safely.
When I was still working I got a parking ticket at least once a month. I have a tag but the rule was you got 4 hours in a regular space and there were no designated HP space close enough. If I got a really close space no way was I going to leave it. So I paid the tickets. There was one enforcement officer that would ticket me. The others knew me and let it go. I don't miss those days.
Welcome home, Mary & Peter! I am so happy living in a small town……roughly 6000 population. We live within 20 minutes of 2 large cities which is convenient…….I just don’t want to reside in one! Nothing like being greeted at the front door by the furbabies! I think that they may have missed you LOL . God bless and glad that you arrived home safe and sound 🤗❤️❤️🙏🏼😘🐕🐱
I would go crazy if I lived in a big city. Staying in a town of 10,000 can get spooky for me. We don't have the hospital facilities though, so that's one drawback. We have a 20 minute drive to the hospital but that's not so bad. Looks like a very sweet welcome home. 😁👋💖
Love that song! ( the song you heard while driving the streets of Boston ) I felt like I was on the plane with you! Oh my goodness! Lol! Thank you for the airplane footage! 😍
Mary, you should do AGT. I think it would be a blessing and a wonderful way to show that your disability does not define you. And though you have a lung condition, you can still sing. Your a role model as is, and people look up to you and children going through what your going through, have dreams of being singers and feel they cannot due to their lungs. You singing, shows them their dreams could come true
So thankful for Trikafta for Mary and many others. As for the ticket years ago, for using your Disable Parking Permit. We are seeing so much of that recently in Australia with over zealous Police fining people who have medically exempt from wearing a face mask during Covid. It's easy enough for Police to say you can contest it in court but the thing is, it's the time, effort and cost associated with it for doing something you were legally permitted to do. Plus during Covid, people don't have the spare cash to splurge on, on the whim of Police refusing to listen.
It is so fun to see you guys back in Boston! I am a grad student in chemistry at Boston College and I hope to one day work in pharma producing life-changing drugs like Trikafta has been for you:)
And he REALLY didn't want a hairless cat! "Mary would have had to marry a different man, if she wanted a hairless cat."😄😄😄😄 And look at him now, totally in love with Harry.❤ I'm so happy that Harry won Peter over....good job, Harry!👍🏻
Ok so i have a queatiom mary has a port how does she fly i was told i couldnt fly with a port in my chest due to 9/11 but i see so many ppl doing it do u need a medical letter?
Not sure who told you that you couldn’t fly with a port and not sure what that has to do with 9/11? I have a port and I also self administer my infusion. Flying is safe (medically) if you have a port! I also travel with lots of medicine and medical equipment and all you need is for your name to be on all your medicine and equipment. I travel with 6 full size IV saline bags…and I live in NY where I also fly out of and I have never had an issue. They usually flag you which means they need to swab your supplies. @@darlarohde1010 i live in Massachusetts and i have called and talk to people in logan and refuse me flying to the point i have book fights and they cancell me and refund my money and when i ask why they explain its due to my port which os why am totally confused
Hi Caroline, I am so sorry you are having a hard time with Logan Airport! According to the ADA it is illegal to deny you access to fly due to having a medical device and that is anything from diabetes devices to shunts to pic lines or even portacaths. I am not sure what other info I can give to help you other than what I have researched and have been told by the TSA. I included the TSA phone number in my 1st reply. I would call them (get names including position, time, date and phone Ext when speaking to anyone) and call the ADA. I would get a notarized letter from your Dr. and /or hospital and as a last resort get legal advice! Remember it is considered a discrimination because of your medical need!! Good luck 🤞🏼🙂
I do not know about the USA but here in Ontario Canada, if you have a accessible parking permit, “parking tag” the person who has the tag must be in the car when someone is in the drivers seat. I have one because of my vision, so my boyfriend can not go get the truck in the parking lot if it is a super sunny day and the light is hurting my eyes and leave me in the shade, I have to be with him. I have had cops several times come up to me when i was getting something from the truck/car (they did not know i was the permit holder, and can not legally drive, and because I am “blind” i have a invisible disability unless you look closely at my eyes) and say “you were lucky you did not get behind the wheel of that vehicle, if you did I would need to give you a ticket”. I then told them I am the permit holder and some asked what my disability is because i do not look disabled in anyway (I had sunglasses on each time this happened). I told them I am visually impaired/legally blind, and they reminded my of the law, just incase, I had forgotten, and asked to let my person driving know about the law just incase they are also unaware. This might be similar to the laws for you, Mary and Peter.
I believe he went to court with her placard to prove that she had a disabled placard. They did not have it in their vehicle when the incident happened if my memory is correct it happened two or three years ago or maybe longer. All they had to pay were the court costs. So they got away without paying much.
@@SuZQ4361 I thought the officer said it was just for taxis, not handicap placards but the officer was wrong. Peter got the ticket dismissed but still had to pay court costs and spend his day going to court.
@@curlybibliophagist2 either way they did not have to pay the traffic ticket. Trials and tribulations of real life and challenges that we all face at some point in our life.
So I am disabled as well, but I love playing devil’s advocate. I went to school at the University of Florida. During Christmas time, I went to the mall and as I getting out of my car parked in a disabled spot the police officer approached my car and asked for my drivers license and registration and the registration for my placard. Once he verified I was valid and the placard belonged to me, he went on his way and I went on into the mall. He said you would not believe how many college kids had the grand parents placards and abused having them in their cars. That officer might have just being trying to stop people for abusing that street. If you didn’t have your placard to show him and then the ticket was warranted and going to court to show proof was the only way to get the ticket dismissed. If everyone said to the officer oh but my wife is disabled especially when it is not true then imagine what that street would look like. Just be grateful that you were able to go to court and get the ticket dismissed and only had to pay the court costs.
Are your animals so stinkin happy when you get home from a trip? We were so happy to see the wagging tail and hear the sweet sound of purring!
Definitely, Mary! My dogs go absolutely CRAZY!!!!!!
And, just wondering Mary, how long did it take for y'all to get home?
Oh yeah. Even just going to church or the store.
Ahhh, watching you take off I literally felt that drop in my stomach that you get when you first get off the ground. LOL.
